So, some of you might know I recently ordered a Sager NP8235.
Well, xoticPC had a special and they were selling 16gigs of RAM discounted for a nice price, so I went ahead and got it as well as 1TB upgrade for free.
I figured I needed it since I'm using mobile hardware, but I sort of get confused on the jobs between a processor and RAM.
Both seem to be the meat to a computer, while the graphics card and other things like the soundcard, speakers, etc. are simply the seasoning (or how you're using the 'meat').
-So, just out of curiosity, what exactly is this benefit to having 16gigs of RAM? I originally wanted 8gigs of RAM, i7 Haswell Processor and a nVidia 770M gfx card.
-And what is RAMs job specifically in dumb people terms?
Thanks. I want to eventually get to the point where I can completely understand PC hardware, so it helps a lot.
