Default Understanding what a stress test is...

When I was in the stress test of Wildstar last night, it kept on crashing/freezing at the log-in screen, character screen, and load screen. While it would freeze or crash, I would Alt+Tab to the beta forums. I came across a few threads and facepalmed...

So, this is most horrible stress test i saw in my life.

How little effort developers put in, when most people cant even log in in game world for 1 hour.

It pathetic to see such bad preparations for test

Nobody think about people, who stay all night just to help clean game bugs and check servers balance.
    And this one:
So ya i was playing the stress test when... oh wait no i wasn't playing the stress test because carbines servers are terrible they reaaallllllyyyyy need to fix this
There were a few more like these.

Which brings me to wonder. How many of you know what a stress test is for? Apparently not these people.

Don't the emails include the information what the Stress Test is and what is it for?

Yes... hell even on the forums there was a few topics that were titled with like:

Lets blow this server up! Good Luck!

    Lets crash this stress test!

    and the likes...

There was even an official announcement on the intentions of what this stress test was for.

Most people skip the info and prolly read "WILDSTAR STRESS TEST TONIGHT" or something along those lines and think they'll be playing the actual game lol

it happened with the GW2 stress tests also. for some reason people think a stress test is the same thing as a beta test. people would get pissy cause they couldn't get in or would get kicked off. also for some reason people think a beta test means actual release which is also very confusing to me. most people don't even submit bug reports during closed betas.

Yeah, I know and then they get pissy and post complaints. Then afterwards they get their thread trolled for being an idiot. Hell even one of the mods got involved with the trolling, but in a polite way...

Its was when mod got involved and the in game announcements that blamed the lag and crashing on Space Pirates, that made me realize one thing... I think I want to stay with this game.

The problem is cyber7chink, you assume people actually read the important stuff.

As someone who does paperwork for a motorcycle safety training school, I can assure you the girl who wears shorts and a pair of uggs and thinks they are proper riding gear did not in fact read their paperwork.

I'm the problem? *runs off with tears in my eyes*

LOL, I know what you mean. If people learned to read, they would not look like inbred idiots themselves.

Not too surprised, a majority of these "testers" are just people trying to play ASAP.

I think we need to gather these individuals to stress test some up coming roller coasters.

I find it interesting that such huge titles going in for for testing and looking for applicants don't actually do a good enough application process to weed out the idiots who don't even know what a test is or even help with the development.

LMAO, what application process... all you do is send in an email for a chance to get into any beta testing. Besides its a stress test. You invite as much as you can to try to crash and assess the threshold of the servers. I would say there were about 5000+ invites. I dont think ANYONE would want to try to weed out the idiots with that many people.

I mean a survey or something. A stress test, I can understand not really caring, but I rarely ever see a beta application do well with surveys. Like, I've been in some with NDAs, and they take their content so seriously, yet they let random idiots in who aren't even reporting bugs or helping in any way.

You are always gonna get idiots who dont care about the game's improvements. They are just in it for self entertainment. But what matters is the ones who do report the bugs and try to help improve the games. Thats what the forum mods/admins are for. To copy all reports that seem to be important and send them in. The rest of the garbage... as long as it does not cause trouble, let it be.

Unfortunately, if you removed the idiots then you wouldn't have enough people to stress the servers... It's just a part of the process, at this point. The most simple of players will more than likely report at least one thing, so long as it interferes with the persons experience there's good odds that they'll report/moan, with that said everyone has there uses.

True, true. I guess it's just harder for me to let go of the fact that idiots are so oblivious to the effect of their idiocy.

Well I always known what a stress test is. I been in quite a few but is still taught it was a shame when I finally got invited to Wildstar I could only make a char but im glad I could help in some way to test there server but I dont hope they make same mistake as others mmos. I mean you make a stress test on the server to see if you need to upgrade it and still on release day there server can´t handle it. I mean what the hell did you have a stress test for if you did not upgrade your server it always the same almost all damn releases I been on Diablo 3, Tera, FF14 1.0 and a few other mmos had beta and stress test and still had a horrible lunch where the server can´t handle more than 10k people.

they could call it *dont-expect-to-play-this-game-at-all-test* and people would still go apeshit about it

This thread made me smile. I can also imagine Mikedot looking at those threads and grinding his teeth since he still has never gotten an invite to play

While the tests do serve the purpose of knowing the limit of the server, they won't upgrade for release because... well that's not their goal, they don't want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on servers that will only be used once

By this do you mean the overly hyped players that try the game out then get bored easily and leave?
