Should humans be given the ability to toggle on/off their pain receptors? Like basically we can decide when we can feel pain.

We can still feel texture and stuff, but given a certain intensity threshold, we can eliminate the feeling of pain.

    Good idea or not?

    Bad idea.
Look at those who are immune to pain, it seems great, but because of so they tend to have very short lifespans.
For every one time pain annoys you, there are about a hundred times it saves you from disfiguring yourself.

The people who are immune to pain can't toggle on or off when they can feel it. My hypothetical scenario indicates that what if humans have the ability to decide when to feel pain.

No. Pain is an indicator that something's wrong.

Turning it off at will could shorten your life to the next couple of hours. Yes, this includes stomach pains, headaches and other common pains.

There are people who genuinely enjoy pain. I'm not one of them.
