You mean without loading the next area? There's no such game.

I think Tom Clancy's The Division is open world ... from just those gameplay videos they shown there were no loading screens .

IIRC Ultima Online didn't have any loading screens or portals leading you to a different area.

Champions of Regnum. You really do have to ride everywhere. Teleports do exist but they are very rare and if a player has teleport powers, they are very limited in availability.

and yea.. Regnum doesn't have much in the way of loading screens between zones. It's all largely seamless.
Be warned - I am a major player of Regnum Online the mmo. I've been playing it for about 2 years and rarely go without logging in at least once a day. You can also look at good alternatives to Regnum such ase Aion online and Aika Online.

Hail Queen Voo. She Hath Returned.

Also: Runescape is (I would argue) Open World.

Well... FF14 1.0 used to be like that. You would only get a loading screen if you went to the zone of one of the 3 big cities.

I'm not talking about loading screens. I'm talking about loading the next area in general. All large games do it. You either have games with loading screens that ensure the next part of the map is fully there, or you have games without loading screens that try to load in the background, which end up popping things into existence and sometimes failing at it. Such as in Warframe, which tries to separate loads by rooms, which sometimes ends in a room NOT LOADING AT ALL. Don't get me wrong tho, Warframe with loading screens would be horrible. However, I feel as if loading screens still have a place in games that are more slow in pace, where it really doesn't matter how the game loads, due to loading screens being superior when it comes to 100% loads of the next zone. However, with more and more advancements in computing, mainly processing power, background loads will surely replace load screens in the future for any type of game.

It doesn't so much matter if the game is 100% open world.. What matters is if it is mostly open world.

Honestly, I occasionally enjoy going into an instanced map and being away from everyone else. It's nice when you get into a dungeon away from ALL the other people, where you can focus on your enjoyment of the game without having to worry about other people getting in your way or ruining your fun.

If a game has a GOOD mix of both Open World and Instanced, then I am happy. These games include Aion, Rift and likely WoW and many other games.
Playing: World of Warcraft (Area 52 Horde)

    Waiting for:

    GTA 5 PC (Pre-Ordered)
    Everquest Next
