    Default The Secret World

    Edit: Sale has ended.

So, The Secret World is currently on sale on Amazon and Steam for $10.19.
It's a traditional style MMO with a modern setting focused on secret societies and the supernatural(zombies, ghosts, demons.)

It also has no monthly subscription.

I honestly wouldn't have bought if for the regular price of $30 but if you have been on the fence about this game I strongly advise looking into it while it's on sale. I personally think it's well worth the $10.

Gah i suddenly got into way too many MMOs this week... Yulgang, Aura Kingdom, Smite, Dragon's Prophet, and World of Warcraft... and I'm having trouble getting around to each of them. But i just researched the game and I'm gonna go grab TSW as well. Thanks for this post.

It was also on sale on Steam earlier this week, it's also not as traditional as you're saying.

I didn't really stress how traditional it is.
I won't break it down because they do put some interesting twists on it and I don't really want to take away from that.

Probably the most traditional thing is the gear grind and that it do have quest hub. Though if you really go into depth of the game they got lots of broken mechanic that they never fixed since day one. Which is kind of sad since this game had quite a bit potential initially. Interesting content if you want to put effort into it. Like those investigation quest and events they host.

TSW is one of the most unique MMORPGs there are. It's also worth the full price imo.

The game is great and one of my all-time favorite MMOs. It's a great game to play with one or two friends. Very immersive MMO with some of my all-time favorite quests and storylines.

Their are admittedly some quests which require skills some folks don't have, like my inability to read music and its requirment to do this one spicific quest in the first town >,<

    Also, Carter is cute :3

    Edit: my only gripe with the game, and i have this gripe with a lot of games, is how few weapon models their are. Here's a 3D gallery of the items in the game, though i'm not sure if they're only from release or all together. God the Soviety weapons and 3rd age, so sexy ; . ;

I'm looking into this game. Is it true that they don't have forced open world PVP?

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)

From what i remember the PvP was kind of king-of-the-hill style group games that take place in "Places of power", like an arena based around Stone Henge and a Mayan Temple.

No, and it's generally suggested you stay away from the PVP if you don't want to be disappointed. I haven't tried the PVP myself, but from what everyone has told me, it isn't very fun.

There is no forced PVP at all.

i bought TSW about a year ago on a steam sale for about 14€ and id have to say its an action mmo where you actually have to aim to hit. Id say everything is doable alone besides the raid missions and group instances that have sign-up lists available so no biggie. Overall its true that its a PVE game but they did update the pvp system recently and theres alot of gear you cant get any other way besides PVP points you get for winning. (but theres alternatives for them if you look close enough)

also its a game where a single player can get all skills and weapons in the game so no need for multiple characters of the same faction (but as all factions have a different main storyline people tend to have multiple characters)

well... it has atleast a 200 people online all the time in my opinion but mostly you see people flocking in agartha hub waiting for teams for group instances

oh...and they do have DLCs you have to pay for (they mostly add a few new general side story missions with adding only small solo instances) also some of them have added special weapons also like a whip, flamethrower and so on (you get chainsaw, healing weapon and rocketlauncher with the base game)

Reminds me of the open source MMORPG, Planeshift with that many people online.

<400 players is pretty common for a lot of MMOs these days.

A good barometer for MMOs is how many podcasts still do shows about them/are about them. I think TSW still has two or three covering the things that happen, updates, "Issues" which are their little DLCs put forwards like comic books.

For those interested, I found a bunch of old screenshots I took on my photobucket. I also have a few videos on my youtube channel if you're interested (link in my sig).

    Anyways,
