Thumbs down Ubisoft attempts to sweeten the Elderscrolls pot...

From an article on Ten Ton Hammer - http://www.************.com/teso/new...tal-pre-orders

Yesterday Zenimax Online Studios revealed pre-order details and an Imperial Edition for The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO). Since that time digital retailers opened pre-orders for Standard and Imperial Edition digital versions of TESO, but Ubisoft is going that extra mile to try and convince you to purchase through its Uplay service. So if you plan to pre-order digital only, keep on reading for some juicy deals.

If you pre-order the Standard Edition ($59.99) of TESO from Uplay, you’ll not only get the 3-day headstart and pre-order items for the MMORPG, but also a copy of Assassin’s Creed III. Opting for the Imperial Edition ($79.99) will get you 5 days of headstart, an assortment of digital items on top of the pre-order bonuses, and a copy of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Green Man Gaming is also sending out 25% off vouchers for TESO to subsribers to its newsletter. If that interests you, you may want to sign up.

TESO is scheduled to launch for PC and Mac on April 4th, 2014.

Honestly, thought it's obviously a ploy on Ubisofts part to try to get more people to use the Uplay system, it doesn't help when it comes to what the pre-order advantages provide. Offering more on top of lore-breaking and unfair advantages given by the ninety dollar edition dose very little to endear either of them to most folks :s

I don't see how Ubisoft or anyone else besides Zenimax/Bethesda is at fault here.
Companies sweetening deals to attract people to their platform is not a new thing, it's old as balls.
What you should be doing is diverting full attention to Zenimax/Bethesda not distract from the actual problem.

I'm not sticking my hand in that pot unless it's morrowind online at this point (with updated graphics of course). I'm sick of third person stuff which is why I'm wondering how mortal online will fit my tastes when it goes live on steam.

I don't think its a right and fair decision to make this game P2P its not showing any respect to the games 100's and 100's of million's it made through Skyrim, its kind of saying yeah we made money thx but now we want to make even more out of you.
I do not see this as game that will last long in its current state, its too expensive to buy along with added mthly sub. It would of been kinda if it were F2P with a shop. It would of made more sense to of gone the F2P route as it would had made a more compassionate plea or a thank you to the game players! for making them rich through Skyrim in the first place.

Buy to play is what they should have went with IMO. If they went with the B2P option, I would have been pre-ordering but since there going P2P I'm not touching it.

I'm with ya, and they could have added a cash shop even and we'd be totally fine! I have heard rumors that it's going to have a cash-shop as well as an upfront purchase and subscription, but i'm not sure if that's valid or not...

It's true that it will also have a cash shop on top of the box price and subscription fee (And if your on xbox, you can tack a live fee as well.) It's One of the first games to not only double dip, but tripple dip into your pockets.

Honestly I was planning to get the game myself to play with friends till I learned they are already starting down a pay-2-win path by gating content and an entire race before launch. Ah well, $60 to spend on something else, not the end of the world.

ffs! Didn't we see what triple-dipping does with The Secret World?! Even if it's as good a game as that (And it's a good game! :3) it'll still end up either going f2p or b2p before March! Also, sixty dollars you say? Ya know, Everquest Next: Landmark just went into Alpha for folks that dropped 60$ on the explorer pack, which you can still buy <,<

hope no one gets duped by Ubisoft.

big coys like ubisoft are just like the big banks. evil.
every dollar u put their way means millions more dying, more horrendous global climate change, reduced chances for you to have kids, more money for the superrich -- all these are bad things for you.

the sooner we crush and destroy ubisoft forever, the better.

There isn't going to be a cash shop. There will be purchasable race/faction/name changes, but every p2p over the past decade have had this set up.

I am going to get it, but not through Uplay. I don't like the AC series so that gives me 0 incentive to download, and create a uplay account.

I think the game is going to be pretty successful. Enough to warrant a purchase from me.

nah im just hating on big companies, banks and politicians.
ubisoft is a big company, so to my (short-sighted) view of things, it is bad.
big companies like big game developers and banks are bad because they clearly misallocate resources.. Gaming companies spend millions of dollars developing games players hate ( they end up being forced to pay) and like big banks, all of them cheat people of their money.

the bible says bankers are bad. therefore gaming coys are bad!
all bad things must be destroyed !
so nothing in particular bad about ubisoft, but it should still be destroyed as a big company.

    overreaction huh?

I can totally support this point of view, for the most part o-o
We've certainly seen enough indie games explode to help support the theory that smaller game companies allocate resources more effectively e,e

Actually banks live because of peoples money ... if people kept holding their money under their mattresses like they used to there would be no need for banks so for the most part People themselves are at fault for their wrong living habits and spending money and need for more money which they find getting from bank for certain percentage ... and after that they whine how banks are bad and how they take too much money but Hey if you are stupid enough to buy a 30k car instead of simple few thousand one... for money you took from bank then be smart enough to pay it with all the percentages you took that money ...

banks are simply using people stupidity in ability to use money but hey ... lets Blame the bank not the people.

Next game companies yes they are like banks they use people stupidity to pay for something they might or might not like ... This is the same as buying ice cream but instead you buy a game ... then after instead of buying a lot of ice cream for 26 euro or so you buy 2 months of gameplay and so huge companies survive while stupid people still keep on crying for why is the game pay to play well ofc it is because each of you keep on paying for it so the company says ''Why Not? we get our revenue ...''

And some people choose p2p over f2p any day some people like me ...

In the end all your statements are neglected by a simple line of words ... which is: People themselves are the most at fault.

(Now stop Q.Q and choose to play or not to play.)

At the END of the day, game is pretty bad though.

You think its SKYRIM but it really is not, I bet you have more fun playing SKYRIM with mods, then this MMO.

And if your going to pay 15 per month might as well pay for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, which I think pretty much everyone will play, because its the best expansion blizzard came up with in 10 years.

lol, yes, you might as well step back into a time machine and play a game that has been expanded on and beaten by at least a half a dozen mmorpgs (maybe more) since. WoW is Mcdonalds and Wal-Mart. I like filet mignons and GQ. Have fun at the bargain bin

I've been playing Mortal Online for the past 2 weeks and must say it's the only game I've been eager to play since Ultima Online way back when. It does have some bugs to be honest but nothing game breaking, I'd say it is worth my money compared to what else is out there. Just curious though, why are you waiting until it is on Steam?

P2p is fine when it's a reasonable amount, say within the $4-8 range, but the standard set by wow at $15 has sadly poisoned the minds of devs out there.
Oh well though, the preorder things are w.e as it's not really new or anything.

It's only fifteen dollars. That's one less pizza a month, one HD movie rental to skip, 30 vending machine sodas.
Honestly fifteen is the sweet spot.

I know where you're coming from, but I honestly barely have anything to spend usually what with being low income. What little spending money I have each month I prefer to use to spend time with friends. This is where low monthlies and cash shops are nice, i can spend when I can or what I can afford.

That and baring a really low server population $15 a month is a really big profit margin, so they could go lower.
