Been reading about this all over the place. Loving the hatred she is receiving because it just convinces me that humans, male & female alike, are idiots. I'm glad she's out finally, I kind-of saw this coming, I don't believe anyone should have to hide their sexual orientation. What's sad though is that a female becoming a lesbian won't receive as much hate as a male coming out as gay. Anyways, congratulations to her and I hope she can wad through all the bullshit that's about to be thrown at her.

Aside from voyeurism and her obvious discomfort in front of the global public, I noticed little to take away from it, so I switched it of after a few minutes. Is there some message to it that is necessarily to be heard?

I am thinking of watching it muted, kinda like "silent support"...

Maybe switching it off is the take away anyways... I don't feel I am to know or care about that information. (You don't have to be gay to support political freedom or support for gay teens anyways. The part of the speech I heard anybody could <should> have given. I am just assuming that for all of it, besides the "juice" parts.)

What voyeurism? Why are you asking if there is a message if you didn't even watch it?

I'm sorry, the rest of what you wrote is illiterate.

Let's take a moment to use our context clues from her speech and apply our knowledge about society to this issue. A large portion of the entire Earth's population is religious and practices religious dogma. Within this religious dogma is a rejection of homosexuals. It is so ingrained into our society that even non-religious folk are homophobic/anti-gay. It's on such a massive and disturbing scale that homosexuals are globally bullied, physically abused, denied civil rights, and even murdered, just for liking someone with the same genitalia.

While I'm pleased that her sexual orientation doesn't bother you, that's not how a large portion of the Earth's human population feels. She confesses she has been afraid, and hopes that her stand and support to the organization may give other homosexuals hope to be strong and continue to strive for their civil rights.

Despite the initial target of the organization, it doesn't just affect homosexuals, but everyone, in a multitude of ways. Her speech was inspiring, at the very least. Although you may not feel it, it's acts such as hers that convert into huge action, and essentially...change. I can only imagine how many young teens she just inspired to become leaders, motivational speakers, activists, survivors, etc.

    History serves as my evidence.

Because I didn't watch it, because why else would I ask?
I have just as much personal knowledge about the matter as you can have straight. I had a gay roommate in a student flat for nearly a decade. It's easy to loose the ground under your feet, if you are talking about things from an outsider perspective. That happens to me too. On this topic, I never really got into this detail (only 80% sure I never mentioned it, I am actually very reluctant, because issues are not about who has the most endearing life-story to present), because it's interesting how patronizing people are and how easily their stereotypes of others and their judgmental opinions are reviled and how they all have a special dear topic that forms their idea of the world. Everyone has an axe to grind and if you invite people they will bring it to you and they will spout their personal projections relentlessly.
Just don't think no one notices that.

You are just using the story to make yourself look like a dick. Feel free to try to prove that it takes one, to know one, I won't disagree. Just what the heck are you trying to prove though?

*Coming back from consulting the dic. on what illiterate means... Well it meant what I thought it did. That's rather confusing, but w/e.

At least in America, it is unfortunately a big deal.

We're not quite at that point where it's is not a big deal for the majority of people sadly.

I honestly don't understand half of what you say, where you are coming from, what you are talking about, and how it applies to what I'm talking about. I'm not sure you grasp what I am saying. Therefore, I will digress.

    Have a good morning.
