Default Elder Scrolls Online NDA lifted: Discussion

    http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/new...nda-has-lifted

You heard it folks. Discuss and rant away. I don't think this game has much of a future and if it does then that's just because it has Elder Scrolls in the name, but that's just my opinion. What about yours?

Only the beta tests and stress tests that came before. They were mostly horrible implementations. Broken voice acting, placeholder voice acting, and various other things. The game has a fuzzy select system a la dragon's prophet if you can't seem to aim properly. The game has a PVP Area similar to Guild Wars 2's WvWvW deal, but to take cyrodil, and it is constantly ongoing.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior, RE:FFVII ∑ Saving For: New Computer

I suppose I'll try it out when it's F2P then. And I'm pretty sure it's going F2P at some point, first things first, milk as much money as possible of the Elder Scrolls name.

It likely won't. Bethesda's pretty stubborn, like Square Enix.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.

looks not bad, i've played in beta and it feels and looks great. The main drawing force for me will be how the PvP ends up at end game. It looks right now to just be zergy/sieges reminiscent from DAOC and Warhammer. That could get old real quick. I don't see much that is personal about the PvP as it stands right now.

    Currently Playing: Eldevin

Bethesda has nothing to do with ESO, Zenimax is the developer behind it.

I'd rather player DaggerFall again, or watch paint dry. Then to play this.

It's a very good MMO - one of the best out there in my opinion.
Anyway, if you look at it with a "skyrim-mulitplayer-game"-mindset (which most people do), you will be disappointed.

The game doesn't deserve a monthly fee and will definitely fail quickly, like SWTOR did. A big expensive flop. It's only a matter of time before a thread pops up guessing when it'll go F2P.
    Current Games:

    Overwatch (NA - PC)
    Battleborn (NA - PC)
Kings and Heroes (Steam Early Access)

    Waiting for:

    No Man's Sky (PC)
    Chronicles of Elyria (PC)

I thought it was pretty good, but from what I played ranged chars have a huge advantage. I made a ranger / rogue type would shoot arrows then assassinate when in range. Straight melee was tough if enemies were a couple levels above you. Leveling was very slow which I dont mind. My biggest problem was some of the quests. If you go into an area and other people are on the same quest ahead of you, the whole area is cleaned out, boss is dead, chests are looted, etc etc. You complete the quest w/o doing a thing. Another thing is most chests/ crates / barrels I cam across had been looted already. I dont know what the respawn time is, but it didnt seem fast enough. The crafting system was kinda weird. I could not find any items to research in order to craft anything. In order to make a bow for example you needed several components. One of them was type (which seemed to be another word for race). In order to craft a bow you have to "research" one to learn the type. I did not find any armor or weapons that I could actually research so I was not able to craft a single thing. You can also learn magical properties from items like in skyrim. All in all if the game was $30-40 I would get it, but at $60 I am really on the fence.

    Yeah, that's not very good.

Tries too hard to be Skyrim and not hard enough to be fun.

Character models were pretty dreadful, couldn't make a character that I actually liked it, they were all ugly as heck. To some that might not be important but to me it is.
Combat felt really clunky and unrewarding, they have some issues with hitboxes. At least for me the Beta was really buggy and unpolished, which I'm certain will change at release, but for now it left a bad impression on me.

Anyway, if I wanted to get back into a P2P game I would still choose FFXIV over this.

Stealth was pretty cool. I was actually impressed at the faithful implementation.
Also, the Posterior slider is very innovative and should be an industry standard. None of that thigh size or waist width nonsense. Just flat out let me give my character a fat ass without any of the fluff.

I didn't find it to be a some kind of crime against humanity like everyone else did. It was exactly what I expected: A watered-down, mediocre version of skyrim with some MMO mechanics stuffed up its rear end. The combat was clunky, floaty (holy christ does it need some collision detection), and lacking in feedback. But so was skyrim's so it's not too severe a downgrade.

Not my cup of tea in any way or form. But I found it more enjoyable than ARR, Aura Kingdom, Wildstar, and other recent junk. At least from an initial impressions perspective.

Didn't really like it the first time I tried. Might be trying it again with different mindset. If I'm bored.
Heard PvP and Crafting is pretty good though.

Don't really understand all the hate this game gets. It's pretty fun. Can't comment on endgame but leveling up was fun and different for each faction. I don't see why games HAVE to do something new to be "good." It does what it does fairly well if still needing some polish. It's in a way better state than SWTOR was at the start at least and I still enjoyed that game for a bit.

The game is not going to make it on P2P basis it would of been far more successful as a F2P model but they choose greed over marketing. To fall from a P2P game release into a F2P is kind of not gaining any respect if it was to do this. Its now a pitfall that's opening as a P2P game! they missed the plot and saw it far easier to rape rewards than to gather them over time. Simply put.... Its a flop.

Yeah game is actually really decent. It doesn't deserve all the crap you guys give it. I feel the ones giving it crap are those who played it for 10 minutes or just watched a video or something. I hope it doesn't fail because I wanna play it! I tried it 3 betas ago and it was... pretty bad. Just in the fact that I couldn't even play cuz it was lagging horrifically. I tried it again last beta and it has shaped up tremendously and now runs like a dream! It is definitely worth trying and don't let the haters talk you out of it. The only people I actually see hating it are the ones that expected Skyrim Online... ESO is not Skyrim online, never was, never will be!
