But let me guess, more restrictive laws than they used to have? Since gun violence is going down. Because I doubt everyone just decided that they couldn't be bothered to shoot each other any more.
It's nice to see you don't actually bother to research this stuff. After multiple firearm bans were lifted in the 90s, gun violence in the US has been drastically reduced. Every year, gun homicide is going down. Some of the most violent years were also the years with the heaviest restrictions. Fun fact, over 90% of criminals that use a firearm in a crime obtained said firearm illegally. That means that over 9 in 10 criminals are using illegal firearms that are already being blocked by the law.
So if they removed all the laws on guns, letting every man, woman and child have one, you think crimes would go down?
Yeah, totally. Because that's the logical conclusion to this. Just like the brilliant idea that removing legally obtained firearms will somehow stop the over 90% of gun crimes committed, which again, are done with illegal firearms. That would totally work. Just like the war on drugs stopped the consumption of such... Oh wait.
But aren't most of these 'illegal' firearms stolen from people that legally bought them. If more people can easily legally buy them, that's more people that are likely to misplace them or get them stolen.
Excuse me for questioning all your gun laws so much, but hearing about a gun crime here is so fvcking rare that I just assume banning them completely works quite well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
