Default FFXIV on Sale on Steam

For only $15. I'm thinking about starting up again and might buy this for a friend or two. If anyone has been wanting to try the game out but hasn't yet, now would be a good time while it's on sale. In my opinion, it's one of the better MMO's out there not in in terms of graphics but also freedom in your classes.

Yea, the graphics are top notch but it's a lot less taxing on PC's now with the updated engine of 2.0.

I wasn't sure since you said it was last year. :P

Yea, ARR is the 2.0 version. I remember a lot of people had trouble running 1.0, even me and my PC hasn't hiccuped with anything I've thrown at it besides that. Still, it requires a decent computer to run.

Really solid and polished, fair amount of content for being new(when you realize ARR is a reboot not an expansion)
The combat is very much like WoW, like...a LOT. So if you're looking for FFXI sadly 14 is not that. Crafting and gathering however are fun, and gathering in particular is quick but involving.(No fighting for resource nodes YAY)

I say give it a shot. $15 for the game+a month is quite nice, I may just resub soon myself. Just haven't had the funds what with some RPGs coming out(gonna suggest you all play bravely default) and moving soon, but with tax money coming back..well yeah.

Tl;DR Solid Mmorpg. Combat can be basic but is rather polished, while in turn the crafting is splendid. oh and leveling can be really fast(but REALLY boring if you just want speed)

Great game, absolutely loved it, but the absolute lack of PvP killed it for me.

I don't consider 4v4 shit to be PvP. It has to be open world for me to enjoy it.

That and once I changed my race from a tartaru (idc what they're called now, they'll always be Tarutaru to me) to an elf it just felt so off that I was never able to play again.

I actually submitted a ticket asking for a race change, saying I'd be happy to pay for it a few hours ago, so maybe I'll be back if they do it. I forget what server, but I'll update this post.

They flat out told me "There's nothing implemented in the game that allows you to change your race back".

Apparently the potion that I used to change my race isn't implemented into the game yet... ****ing idiots. Will NOT be playing this game again until they fix that.

And I know of 3 people besides me who won't be playing for the same reason.

If you already bought the game, can you get it on your Steam list?

I've just recently started using Steam but can't you add a non steam game to your list? Or would you not be able to get achievements like that?

Pretty sure you can add the game to Steam, but I don't think you'd get any achievements or whatever, you would just be able to open it with Steam.

That's basically just a shortcut in Steam. It doesn't add the game to your Steam account, just a shortcut on that PC, so no achievements, updates, etc.

Instead of starting a whole new thread I'll just ask here: Did they remove forced grouping? One of my friends picked the game up on sale and said he could get a mount, join the factions, and progress through the story without being forced into instances with parties anymore.

You are forced to group for some of the main story quests for, say, dungeons and stuff but a lot of the game is soloable. Not to mention you have all the crafting jobs that you can solo as well. Dungeons wouldn't really be fun by yourself. =/

Much cheaper than the collector's edition.
