Default Want to make games? For Free?

You can currently get a copy of Game Maker Studio($50 value) for free. Offer ends March 02, 2014.

GameMaker Studio Standard Edition Is Free For A Limited Time

For a limited time, GameMaker Studio Standard edition is available for free. Valued at $49.99, GameMaker Studio Standard is a significant improvement upon the free version of the software which imposes harsh restrictions on the resources that developers can make use of.

Additionally, developers can use their free Standard edition license to upgrade to the Professional edition (RRP $99.99) for only $35 more. This offer ends March 2, 2014.

To take advantage of this offer, download and install GameMaker Studio and follow the instructions that appear. To upgrade from GameMaker Studio Standard to GameMaker Studio Professional for $35, simply enter your Standard license key when checking out. This offer is not being extended to the Steam version.

Due to high demand, the license key may take a while to appear in your email inbox, and there may be delays when trying to validate the key.

    Download GameMaker Studio
    Upgrade to Pro for $35

I'm sure they did this a few months back too. Unless the deal just lasted really long.

Why would I make games for free?

    I'd rather be paid.

    Reading: NOTHING
To read: American Gods by Neil Gaiman, The Hungry Games, by J. K. Rowling, No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy
Last read: A Dance With Dragons by GRRM (4.5/5), A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin (3.5/5), Titus Alone by Mervyn Peake (2.5/5)

Interested in why I picked these books, or want to recommend me some more? Just pm me. I love books.

You realize there are still 1000's useful, quality programs that don't rely on DMR?
Steam is nice because it keeps everything organized under 1 account but the program functions perfectly regardless.
