Couscous, tomato, basil. Onion microwaved 3 minutes and covered in Tabasco. Then chop it and mix in. 6 minute healthy delicious lunch.

I've never had, nor heard of, couscous. What is it and is it good?

Since i started university, i love to cook lol. Idk why.

I think its really satisfying when you cook something good for yourself or others

Im not into western cooking, more into asian style.

    Hate baking though.

    EDIT:

Will try to contribute something to this thread since i cook almost everyday.

Speaking of uni, I used to cook a bunch when I started. Until I found out the reason why I was getting food poisoning so much. Never cook chicken straight from the freezer boys and girls!

My backlog of photos that I need to post is building up but I've been extremely busy.

I always cook this when im busy/lazy. Just a plain fried rice.

Takes around 20-30mins (assuming you have cooked the rice) to get it done

I didnt quite follow this.... you weren't cooking it slow enough and the middle was still raw?

    English?

Ive cooked frozen chicken since I moved out on my own at 17 and im 34 now, and never had any health issues from it that I am aware of..... That is why I am confused. I just microwave it a couple minutes first but never fully defrost it, its pretty much always still frozen in the middle when I start cooking.

edit: I defrost even less when I plan on cutting it since the ice crystals make cutting so much easier than thawed slimy meat.

I usually drop my frozen meats in some warm water for 30 minutes before cooking them. Cook it too long and it'll get pretty dry.

So I am actually a professional cook going to school for culinary so this topic is right up my alley.

Today I made Tomatoe Basil Bisque with Tortellini. Sounds hard but is rather simple.

I make huge batches but i will do my best to trim them down.

    Ingredients:

    1/4 C. white onions minced

    1 Tbs. Garlic minced

1/2 C. Red wine (any drinking wine will be good though I usually go a little sweeter)

4 Cans diced tomatoes in juice or whole tomatoes in juice

A handful of fresh basil with stems (if you cant get fresh use 1 Tbs. dried)

    1/4 C Heavy Cream

Store Bought Tortellini (usually found in the frozen food section filled with cheese)

    Directions:

Saute your onions and garlic till they are translucent/tender. Deglaze the pan with the wine (other wise known as add the wine and scrap the pan to get everything off the bottom). Add in your tomatoes if using whole make sure you crush them with your hands as you add them. Add in your basil bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer and cook 10 minutes stiring every minute or so. At this point if using fresh basil remove it from the soup and let cool. Remove the stems and chop and save for later. Take the soup off the heat and let cool a bit. At this point I use an immersion blender but if you don't have one a regular blender works you just want to puree the soup to get it smooth. After you puree the soup set it back on the stove and add the heavy cream. Turn the heat on about medium because you do NOT want to boil a soup that has cream in it. Let cook 2-3 minutes the soup will start to thicken. At this point add back in your basil and you pasta (thaw the pasta first if frozen) cook for another 2-3 minutes and serve. Best tomato soup ever. Also if you like your tomatoe soup spicy add 1 tsp. red pepper flakes. If you like it sweeter add about 1/4 C. white sugar. And as always season the soup at the very end with salt and pepper to your personal taste. Enjoy
