Default Popular MMOs with Big Guilds?

Out of curiosity, what MMOs are out right now that are:

    1. Have 1 or more active fansites
    2. Have active guilds
    3. Has an overall active community

I know World of Warcraft is the biggest and most active MMO out there. Same with SWTOR. Crappy thing is you have to be a paid subscriber to post on their forums. World of Warcraft has some cool fansites and tons of guilds though. SWTOR has MMO-Champion and a few Curse sites.

What other games do you guys know of with really big guilds and open communities? Planet of Exile, Neverwinter, Wildstar, Elder Scrolls.....

Any other MMOs? I've seen Rift. Though I wonder if there are any fansites for it...only 1 I've seen for it. Trying to survey what MMOs are huge in terms of community size. World of Warcraft and Runescape are perfect examples.....tons of fansites, tons of guilds, and still popular. But there should be more out there.

Tera. Tons of guilds with 1k+ members, but not sure if it's still that popular.

I would play tera over wow anyday even if tera only had 50 max players on the whole server. fortunately there are atleast minimum of 1000 players on a server.

Really? Tera? I checked it out on Gameforge and people had no replies when it came to guilds lol. Apparently Tera is a bit stagnant when it comes to guild activity.

There's gotta be more games out there....

I don't see F2P required anywhere in this thread so....

EvE Online. Here's a ranking. That's just alliances on their own and not allied alliances, which can make extremely huge powerblocks. (IIRC, Goonswarm and Brave are allied last I've heard)

    Agreed.

I initially thought that the players in EVE were too toxic, but then I became toxic myself and didn't mind playing.

GW2 has some really huge guilds, mainly because they can be made with members from several servers. It's a really active game too.

And quite demanding on the PC Not everyone can play it.Especially on laptops. My laptop can run it but it's too demanding and will probably overheat even with the cooling pad

ArcheAge. Has lots of guilds with 300+ members, several fansites (with Archeagesource being the biggest/best), and active sub-reddit, etc.. Bad thing is, it's now IP blocked on the Russian version, which is the most active for international players. You'll have to use a VPN to play now, I believe. If you made an account before the IP Block, however, you wont need a VPN. There's also a Chinese, Korean and Japanese version you can give a go. NA/EU should be out, at least in beta, within the next few months.

    I also second GW2.

I've seen EVE Online and GW2 and I agree. Super active games with huge communities, though there aren't many active fansites. I've only seen tools, databases, guides, and resources. Not really external forums.

LOl ArcheAge....I actually discovered that game few days ago on Reddit....it's not bad and it's got a big active fansite on it.

Planet of Exile is ok....some activity in that game.

I've also checked out Final Fantasy but I wonder if you have to be a subscriber to post on the official forums? I have no idea if guilds exist in FF and what the big fansites are.

Any other games? Saw a lot of threads for new games coming as well as games that have big updates being released. Any games that have been existing for a long time and is really big? I've already seen Rift, Tera, WoW, Archeage, GW2, and Wildstar. Though Wildstar is relatively new, not really a long-existing game.

Warframe does have some guilds with over 1k members and have their own websites, active, etc.

Runescape is a reeaallly old game that is still pretty cool. It's been "refurbished" multiple times now that it is so different from how it was when first launched.

C9? I'll check it out. As far as EVE goes, EVE has TONS of fansites bit those fansites don't have forums. It's all databases, tools, resources, articles. Haven't seen many active EVE discussion forums besides the official forum.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Wildstar, Runes of Magic, or any other MMO. World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2 are like the top 2 games in terms of guilds and communities, though Guild Wars 2 doesn't have many active fansites....it's got one fansite by Curse, but the rules are soooo strict. World of Warcraft has a few decent fansites.....it sucks that you can't post on their official forum though....only subscribers are allowed.

    *bump*

I actually conjured up a list of anime MMOs but although they fit the criteria of "really active and friendly", very few were active in terms of guild activity. I think Final Fantasy was the biggest anime MMO I've seen with guilds. Fiesta as well.

So....Tera, Rift, GW2, and WoW only? Do people still play Runescape?
