I would stay far far far away from it at this point. The game has long since pass it's prime and now it's a shell of it's former self which in truth was a very ambitious game which had a lot of great ideas. As of now the game is now a Gamble to Win business model, upgrade materials and even new weapons are all in the gamble boxes now, late game is entirely dominated by the same vanilla setup of all range, supports, and 1 tank and debuffer. The game is on it's deathbed sadly, the community has long since grown frustrated and jaded towards the devs and publisher, I myself have played the game up to endgame content and each time new "content" comes out it becomes a race for who can craft the best gear and it get's expensive and ingame money is rather difficult to make with such a small community left.

    Back to the topic:

Granado Espada hands down has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. It has a lot of variety and doesn't give out a generic feel at all.

Ragnarok and Talesweaver also have amazing soundtracks just because of how well they made you become immersed, it really help breath live into both of them.

Going to put this gorgeous piece here:

k well while we're talking about RO
RO's soundtrack is great because of the amazing variety and that just about every single one of the massive 120+ tracks is excellent
I could talk about RO's soundtrack all day. but no one wants to read that

but here are a few of my favorites (all of my favorites would be half the soundtrack. like 60 tracks or something):
one of the beach towns - Latinnova
the lower floors of the epic Thanatos Tower - Erebos' Prelude
    The Sphinx - Hamatan
some of the field maps that look like autumn countrysides - Antique Cowboy
space age city ruins - We Have Lee But You Don't Have (lolwtf at this title though)
fields near the fairy village - Splendide Dreams (apparently NOT SoundTeMP)
deep inside the forest maze - Labyrinth
aaand the theme of Lighthalzen - Noblesse Oblige

FFXIV: ARR. The Final Fantasy series has some of the best music and this one is no exception. The music is beautifully done.

Downloaded the game a few weeks ago out of nostalgia. It's.. terrible. I mean, the quality before it went to GamersFirst really has gotten shit. It's a mess now.

surely none of the music here so far, beats Tristram theme from Diablo 1??

Be warned - I am a major player of Regnum Online the mmo. I've been playing it for about 2 years and rarely go without logging in at least once a day. You can also look at good alternatives to Regnum such ase Aion online and Aika Online.

Nobody mentioned the old poor Ragnarok II, crappy game excellent music. Too bad the game was shit or we would have seen Yoko Kanno produce more music for this game..

I played neverwinter online but didn't like the game, combat is way too blocky and p2w up the ying-yang. But I do remember their theme song... which is just amazing.

Also, C9's new Continent (Raebin)'s soundtrack is amazing:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-abryPg7uI

    And.. even better...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_3UqesZDkQ <--- One of my favorite C9 BGM's! I get a full fled rush of nostalgia across my body while listening to that song, it's insane. Brings back how awesome the PVP was back when it was actually fair (lvl 50 cap) Ohh good times <33333333

Just a shame how this game isn't more popular, the management behind it is just.... I don't even want to go into it or like talking about it because it's truly just sad. Oh well though, I do pray one day Webzen snaps out of it.

I always liked training in Crude because of that music. My favorite from that game though is The Last Promise.

ArcheAge has really good background melodies. They sound so epic and inspiring... Too bad the game itself is not that good. I leveld two characters to 40s and it was exciting under lvl 20s only

Granado Espada has the best music ever. No competition. The renaissance era setting and gameplay is very unique. Unfortunately the game went downhill really fast with its cashshop.

Most of the replies have stated the best out there. I haven't played a few of the games mentioned but Lineage II, RO, and Granado Esparda are the best soundtracks I've had the pleasure of ringing in my ears. Maybe I could mention a few other games with decent tracks in them. With that said I'm surprised neither Minecraft nor PSO:BB were mentioned.

FlyFF - Only played upto lvl 40 or around there. Aside from northern Flaris music the rest was pretty awesome. The first area music is cool, jazzy and smooth. Dungeon music is creepy. Completing a quest is pleasant. Saint Morning is beautiful because you hear that when you fly to the island for the first time(Probably my fav town music of all time. FlyFF - Saint Morning

Gunbound - No matter how repetitive the menu music got it always got me humming or the like. Sudden death was intense too. Gunbound - Lobby

ATC Raycrash - Short lived but the music was pretty powerful. Violence is enough to get anyone geared up... Despite the latency issues. ATC Raycrash - Violence

Ace Online (AKA Space Cowboy/Air Rivals) - Probably the only game I've quit and enjoyed more the second time trying. While I have a playlist of music I would grind to there was a few tracks they had which were in the list. Most notably the mothership war warning(Stone city in SCO). Ace Online - Stone Ruins/BGM 3002

PSO:BB - Very surprised this wasn't mentioned. The intro is enough to remind me why I love VGs. Sega did bring me back (Big thanks to Schthack). Phantasy Star Online: EP1&2/Blue Burst - For Eternal Story

I'm sure I'm forgetting some other notable music.

ragnarok and talesweaver music is great yeah, i often throw it into 1 giant playlist and put it on shuffle

eve online is another mmo where the majority of the music is really good, and of course ffxiv, but any ff has good music

edit: wakfu has some sweet melodies too
