Default Why Buy a Wii U?

Really. Why would anyone buy a Wii U at this point? Sure it is the cheapest current gen system but it's also the weakest. Most of the AAA "multi-console" games aren't available.
In 2014 the Wii U's launch list is slim, with only a hand full of exclusives.

Sure, there are a few gems that are a blast to play but ultimately there just aren't that many good options.

My wife and I really wish we had done a bit more research before buying ours last year.

Do you think there is any hope for the Wii U or even Nintendo in the console war?

Super Smash Bros. 4 (it doesn't have a title yet but it's coming)! If it's ANYTHING like Melee then it SHOULD be good. Then again, Nintendo managed to ruin Brawl.

No. They fail to recognize that children don't want to keep playing Wii Fit their whole lives. I stopped being a Nintendo fan when the Wii was released with only one game that I wanted to play. Which is sad because I was a huge fan on Super N64 and Gamecube.

Xenoblade, Xenoblade 2 / X are the only ones I'd really play on a Wii U, so yeah, it's up to you.

Tales of Symphonia was released on PSN (Both games), so that's not really viable.

Same. I stopped playing DS handhelds/etc. as well because not as many games I liked were coming out.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.

Had fun with my Wii, have more fun with my Wii U. Plenty of games on both, guys. Take another look.

What type of games do you guys like btw?

Bah, embrace them they are your friends!

Nah I can understand how you might not like them, hell I originally didn't even like Phantom Brave. It was one of those games I bought and played for a bit and didn't care for until I gave it a serious second chance and then it just clicked with me.

Serious though, if you like straight up turn based RPGs, get Arc Rise Fantasia.

I'm fine with Action RPGs as well, like Tales, Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts. Only real RPG I'd get on Wii / U is Xenoblade series, if I could find them.

While the Wii didn't have too much good games, it certainly had the best and most unique ones of its generation (the PS3/XBox generation was really weak in terms of games if we ignore the indie ones released for XBLIG/XBLA/PSN). Alone for Fragile Dreams and Sin & Punishment 2 it was already worth it for me. The Last Story was also incredible.

Wii U doesn't offer too much yet but it probably will. At the very least it has an exclusive Sonic game which is said to be fairly good.

On ther other hand XBox One won't really offer anything I want and even if it does, I'd rather get the PC version for more modding power. Plus all the "we spy on you" Kinect debacle. No thanks.

PS4 is a maybe, I would like to get all the PSN indie titles but on PS3 there wasn't a single indie game released in Europe because PSN Europe sucks big times and if they don't improve that, there is no point getting a PS4. Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV? SquareEnix first needs to prove that they can still make games that don't have horrible design.

Squeenix is also up on the fence about offering FFXV on PC.

if only Nintendo stuck to violent videogames and a regular controller I will be buying nintendoes today. one of the best consoles is Nintendo 64. I wish Nintendo had kept Rareware and made more shooters would be super awesome. conker and perfect dark beats all. how great it would be if Nintendo had games playable online during the gamecube days with a different console from not focus on a childrens console. they could have kept neutral. have all games from all ratings. playing games online on a Nintendo as early as the early 2000's like the playstaion 2. but Nintendo since the wii era was winning the console war since the change.

Nintendo has a ton of exclusive games, I used my wii a lot for party games when friends were over. Mario kart, super smash, mario party, etc. Also IPs like legend of zelda. For me graphics don't really matter as much as the amount of fun I have. Also I have a gaming computer if I really want to crank up the graphics, so it's all about the exclusive content.

That's pretty sad. Yeah I never played Wii games without friends over, but at least you can play online with monster hunter ultimate and games like that. Xbox/ps4 has better single/online multiplayer games.

Check the game library first before buying this Handheld. If you don't like the games don't buy it

Monster Hunter may look like an RPG, but it's far from it. Even with max stats (9999+ in every stat), early level bosses can still wreck you in a couple hits.

I loved Zelda games, and still do :V (I'm no good at stealth, and had to hack an infinite jump in majora's mask because I couldn't get past the deku kingdom guards.)

A question, if I buy a Pokemon game from the eShop, can I play it on my Wii U? :3c I already know the answer is no for games like Pokemon X/Y. I wanted to know if YOU knew that.
