I'm guessing you mean "Open world pvp" when you say PVP?

If so, Wurm Online is your only option currently.

Only plays Burst Magic DPS Classes and Healers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Ragnarok)
Waiting On: EQ Next, FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior Saving For: An Epic Computer / PS Vita

wurms graphics are a little underwhelming if it had a trial ide consider it. Not many options it seems.

You want Open PVP. Even Everquest Next: Landmark doesn't have that yet.

im curious how you see things like pvp and player housing fitting together.
Be warned - I am a major player of Regnum Online the mmo. I've been playing it for about 2 years and rarely go without logging in at least once a day. You can also look at good alternatives to Regnum such ase Aion online and Aika Online.

By default, Second-Life doesn't force PVP unless in a zone specified by the zone's creator/owner. You'd have to find something that is in the realm of RPG or the like. Unfortunately, this would be pretty hard to integrate with custom-made items within other realms that don't have inter-connectability to the zone that has RPG stuff in it.

Have you looked at Wurm in the past couple of years? o.0 The game looks pretty damn nice, and it has a free-to-play account option (which is more like a trial than anything, I guess... tho you can buy premium with the in-game currency, which you can gain by working for other players).

There's Mortal Online. Fits all that you want. Has a free account option.

Darkfall fits as well. Dunno if it has a trial.

ArcheAge is around the corner, and it's pretty neat. Mix of Themepark and Sandbox, and I had a blast playing it on the Russian servers. Trion will be releasing beta within the next few months, and I believe Closed Beta should begin within a month.

Lots of games had PVP and housing, often in an "open PVP" environment. A lot of them were quite successful. For example, Ultima Online and Shaowbane.

Wurm Online has it on their Epic server cluster (while Freedom server cluster doesn't allow PVP in any form at all... ColdReactive might like that).

Mortal Has it, and it's great as well.

I believe all these games (perhaps minus UO?) have asset destruction, too. That means, if someone wants to make the effort and you can't defend your home, someone could destroy your house/buildings/city.

Well if you run in your house and close the door ide have a hell of a time killing you. Although at some point I hope they have destroyable player housing in games.
