Default Is Smite the best moba now? Is it getting bigger and bigger?

So Im playing Smite and quite enjoying it (im pretty crap at it).

But it seems to me that Smite could be slowly hyping up to become quite a big smash hit. They are patching their gfx engine this week, scores of Gods, scores more to come, the Gods are fun to play, community very vibrant etc etc

Smite just went open beta in March 2014. Do you think Smite is lining up with more momentum to become a smash hit in 2014 maybe 2015?

What do you guys think of Smite?

I don't much like it, though I can see why others do. I'd much rather play Cyphers, to be honest. :I A girl can dream.

Okay, after this sentence I assume you didnt play DOTA at all. I played DOTA for over 500 hours now, but I also play SMITE ( I have about 100 hours in it). Smite is very noob friendly game. Its easy to learn. DOTA on the other hand is very punishing game. In DOTA after 500 hours I still learn new things. Although I like the fact that you need to turn your camera in Smite to see if someone want to gank you.

I would still say dota is the best MOBA right now - they have a huge roster and the game is always being updated and balanced. The community is not as toxic as LoL/Smite/Dawngate w/e you play. I've played them all and i have to say i got the least leavers/feeders in my Dota games.

easiest game to pick up would be Dota as well due to the community. it might just be me - but i enjoy reading up on mechanics of the game before i play it so i picked up dota pretty quickly and just kept on learning as i went on.

Smite is a great game hampered by a shitty community. but mechanics wise and production quality wise you can't beat valve.

dota is better for the folks that want to go pro as well - then LoL then Smite.

We'd probably have a ton more playable gods by now if they didn't have to be based around various mythology. Just look at how amazing some of the skins are that aren't tied down.
Except they don't? They sure take their artistic license seriously. Have you looked at their newer gods like Scylla? Sure, they do draw some inspiration from mythology but that's pretty much it, inspiration.

there are countless numbers of gods - they can basically think of a hero concept and then google a god that they can base that concept on
    and vice versa.

i dont think it limits them in any way as they also have used Chinese heros as well. so with that being said there are limitless possibilities.

aww... looks like ive missed out. wel i think Smite has an amazing future (not that my opinion is worth much). Smite's God lore has much deeper and broader appeal in the long term and if Smite were to one day go full RvR pvp mmo it could be a smash hit..

oh i havent had any money to spend on Smite its sad.

hm ok the new gfx engine. Actually i havent noticed a huge difference. Maybe slightly sharper gfx and bit more jiggly boobs. The main thing I noticed is that the patch forced me to upgrade .NET and Visual C++ which really strains my OS partition as it is already low on hdd space. The patch also broke my screen config which was a pain to fix. Otherwise than that I tend to run all my mmos on low gfx settings because high settings tends to overheat the gfx card and in the past this killed my gfx card.

I LOVE Kumbhakarna he is a great idea and I love his yawn animation and voice and lazy personality. I have not payed against him yet. I don't recal what Zhong Kui looked like. My favourite god was Isis and her new skin is great but I cant pay her anymore. Not sure who to pay regularly next.

honestly think of the 30$ as an investment queenvoo - im 100% sure you can resell the account for at least 20X what you paid for it if the game does get big. Think about it if they offered the ultimate godpack for League when it was in Beta think how much you could sell your account now!

honestly i already have the god pack you can have my code - i was just going to either use it for the free skin or give it to a friend anyways.

Hard to say honestly, considering theres third party sites that sell skin codes for most of the rare skins from events/preordering. The only legit rare skin that is near impossible to get on League is Black Alistar.

For me it's a different taste of what you can expect from a traditional MOBA but Smite is taking the right steps to make this game favor a broad audience that wants to give something different a try. It's fun, rewarding, and can get pretty technical. If they continue doing what they're doing then I say they will have a pretty good game on their shoulders. Whether or not players decide to give it or try will be up to them but honestly I don't see Hi-Rez Studios going broke anytime soon.

im talking about if league had the ultimate god pack - which means all current and future heroes are unlocked on your account. i see smite convention skins selling for 500+ on ebay... which is kinda disturbing and Dota skins selling for 1000+ O.o

    They're all different mobas.

Smite - most actiony, aim needed, less strategic, easiest to learn
LoL - more of the standard moba, still pretty fast pace, more stategic than Smite, easy to learn
Dota - slowest pace of all, hardest to learn, think of it like chess

you are being immature about this and taking everything the wrong way. did i say spam threads? the way you are acting now is super childish. Just because you didn't get a skin code. You did not read the post properly and you are just making yourself sound like a kid.

Except you don't have to spam threads nor have a high post count to be active. Having a lot of posts matters in very few giveaways but for most people, it's all by random luck. Heck theres people that registered before I did and they only have like 200 posts or so.

I'll stick to Dota 1 or 2 nowadays there's a lot of MOBA but original Icefrog made is the best.

Okay enough with the post stuff.
One thing I want to ask is what makes Dota/Dota 2 so special ? I play Dota 2 and LoL .. I never got into Dota that much.I like LoL more because it's more addictive at least for me.Every champion has it's own story and lots of other little details about them that makes the game more fun.Dota 2 doesn't have that from what I've seen.Sure heroes have some miniature story that's not connected in any way with the others. Some celestial comet turned to a phoenix and decided to fight .. wohoo.I can understand the Prince of Darkness but Puck ? A little fairy wants to kill everything in it's way. That's what bothers me in Dota universe. They fight for who knows what.
In LoL it's not like that.Every champion has his story, his faction/city and a CLEAR cause for which they fight. Is it so hard for the Dota team to make something interesting ? I mean Dota 2 is a copy of Dota with better graphics and some new systems but come on .. the game's been out for ages.Does it take that long to write a proper story for each of them ?! I won't discuss the - Dota's hard and LoL is easy because it's not completely true. That depends on the player only.I don't find Dota or Dota 2 hard at all it's just different in it's own way but it can't hook me up like LoL ... did.

I guess I phrased it wrong. I never said that Dota isn't the standard one. I just meant that LoL is a more "standard" (dota-like) moba compared to Smite. And yeah, LoL is slightly more fast paced than Dota (2). Skills are much more spammable than in dota, dota has Attack Point, Attack Backswing, Turning Rate etc. And games generally end earlier compared to dota.

I dont really like "Dota" games and I am kinda tired of click to move. Tried HoN, LoL and Dota2 but got bored pretty fast.
But somehow I enjoyed Smite, its that third person that makes the game more interesting and fresh I guess.
And engine is great, almost every god looks awesome.

I honestly think Smite would have been more popular if they didn't stick themselves to the "God" theme. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but if they just made there own characters they could have done much more with it IMO.
