Default Age of Wushu - Tempest of Strife + New Server

    IGN List (Silver Viper)
    Forum name (IGN) - faction
ApocaRUFF (Apoca) - Vagrant (Soon to be Golden Needle)
    Nargato (Nargato) - Vagrant

So, on the 7th a new expansion (dubbed Age of Wushu 2.0 due to all the new stuff added) will be hitting Age of Wushu. As well as a new server, called Silver Viper. I know a majority of us hate Snail, and we all know that the new server is just to entice new players and will end up backfiring in general (at least it will lower the population of the other server...).

However, I am thinking of either A) Returning to my Shaolin on White Tiger (currently at 'Max Level' strength with level 18 third inner), or Creating a new character as a "Vagrant" (or maybe another Shaolin) on Silver Viper. I have one friend who I think who will join me as a Vagrant/At least play with me on the new server.

The only downsides to being a Vagrant is that I wont have access to school events (I think... maybe they made it so you can? Dunno...), plus I wont have access to the hidden events. However, there are certain rumors... Plus, for those of us that are fans of Wuxia/Jianhhu fiction, playing the part of the unaffiliated young hero is quite enticing. I think getting a group of us together and creating a small guild to at least play for a couple of weeks or a month (personally, I will be quitting OR going into casual mode once ArcheAge goes into Open Beta or release, depending on how they have their betas set up with wipes).

Already have the game downloaded. Will most likely be playing casually since I already know theres no point in trying hard in such a blatant pay to win game like this. Mainly just trying out the Vagrant storyline since I've been waiting for awhile for it to get ported. I think a friend of mine might join me but I doubt it. Also playing on the new server since I already know I'll regret playing on the older ones. I've heard that theres been a ton of botting and hacking though so if I encounter it to such a large degree like I've heard from people who still play then I'll just uninstall it again.

I'm quite torn between going back to this game. On the one hand it was one of the only MMO's I've ever truly enjoyed, with interesting mechanics and a brilliant combat system. But on the other hand Snail is one of the worst companies I've ever had to deal with, and it has a dead population with a relatively bad community.

I'm really tempted to go back to it, but I can't help feeling that I'll get sucked in and will probably spend money on a VPN and VIP, which might ultimately be a waste of time and money if it goes back to being a dead game.

Have they even fixed the duping, gear exploits, hacking, and never ending bots? If not, I probably will not be giving it another go.

To be honest I'm not really sure where the game in Age of Wushu is. From my time in it all you really did was run spy missions (which were neat, especially if you had wallrunning and such) for exp and spent the rest of your time meditating for who knows how long. Never got past that bit so I don't know if the game even happens :P

The game is doing whatever you want to do. Crafting, gathering, running instances, socializing/RPing, dueling, running escort missions (or attacking escort missions :P ), working towards becoming friendly with an NPC in the hopes that they'll give you special gifts via the encounter system, explore the place because they're a shitton of interesting places that you don't visit (usually) do the the fact that there's next to no quests in the game. So there's exploration.

There's a lot to do, just don't expect the game to tell you to do them. And that's what a lot of people like about the game.

As for the botters/hackers... I did make a new character on Golden Kirin last night just to play with a friend and I did come across a hacker-bot doing kidnappings. The ones where they do the teleport-jump.

Perhaps Tempest of Strife will introduce a new anti-botting system that will automatically perma-ban half the player base on accident.

That's a joke, and if you're a vet of AoW you'll understand it. But really, once you hit rock bottom you can only go up from there.

AoW is alot funner watching people play and duel on youtube than playing the game yourself.
