Default Is using VPN to play region-locked games illegal?

Hi. I was wondering about this because I wanted to make a tutorial on youtube about using VPNs to play region-locked games but I had a thought that maybe it is illegal. Do you guys know if it is illegal or not? The region-locked games are all free online games. I've heard conflicting things about it.

They might ban you or your VPN gets blocked. That's the only real danger there is. I really doubt they're going to charge you with legal stuff.

Edit: derp. Don't write stuff when you're dead tired.

It's IP-blocked for a reason: To make people learn how to use proxies.

It may be illegal in China, North Korea, and Cuba.

Don't forget to mention that a lot of free VPNs are slow, they could be timed (only 30mins of usage per day) and could potentially log all of the traffic passing through (so CC stuff isn't recommended doing through it).
