So, basically the same as what's done in DIII.

not quite.... ascend can be done every 5lvls. When using ascend, you can keep some equipment pieces (the number depends on how many pedestals you have bought with souls) Ascending will delete all other equipment, lets you change how you look and what you wear like at character creation and sends you back where you left (so you keep your progress)

for now there doesnt seem to be a downside to ascending with minimum lvl requirement (for example you can ascend at lvl 10 but the max at that point is 25)

welp, guess I'll give this a try. been a sucker for action RPGs lately.

    Edit:
Found this little nugget on the FAQ:

    Q. How do you challenge another player, or invade an altar/shrine?
    A. At present your Ascended Champions will automatically invade other player's contention points and tribute their victories to you. If this happens while you are playing Ascend you will see a popup-notification that tells you whose game they are invading, and whether or not it was a success. We have improvements and extensions of this system in the works.

Sounds like a hilariously awesome version of the Dragon's Dogma pawn system.

I'd say it kind of is in a way but it's nothing detrimental just yet since you don't fight actual people just yet. Once they add actual PvP I'll probably end up quitting because you can just buy souls with real money.

It's a really weird system but it seems like it works for the moment.

You can buy souls for money to speed things up. But seriously.....there is a very easy method to get souls. Since this game already been out on the x-box for a year or so. People already made farming methods on youtube and such. You need to get very high combo's, like 500+, this way your soul multiplier is like x15. You can do this by using a very low attack weapon and only use normal attack(LMB )

Then finish them off with black hole spell or a stronger weapon. Pretty cheesy, but apparantly you get like 200k souls in a few hours with this method in Ring of Bones. You need to farm anyways. Since the soul repair costs are INSANE once you aquired full purple/gold gear at high level.....
