    Default MMO with summoner class

    Hello,

I am looking for an MMO with a summoner class. I want one where you don't summon a small pet to fight with you but I want one where your pet is essential, where the summons can be bigger than your in game character. I've been looking for a game like this for quite some time now, thanks for the help

Although not "Bigger than your character" the Summoner class of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn relies heavily on its summoned pet. For instance, while your DOT Spells are debuffing a monster (Such as a big bad boss), your Garuda summon can extend the duration of those DOTs.

Only plays Burst Magic DPS Classes and Healers.

Yes. It's a subscription-based MMORPG. You did not originally put whether or not you wanted free to play, buy to play or pay to play.

Grand Fantasia. Not sure how it's doing but when I played the necromancer class was pretty intense. You can summon a few pets that are larger than you but they are only for a limited amount of time. They do have other pets that are more permanent and they do insane amounts of damage as well as causing status ailments or tanking! The tank one is pretty freaking huge for obvious reasons.

Allods has a summoner class the pets they get aren't huge but they have a huge role in pvp/pve and they do have skills of their own that they use such as disarming or stunning etc. It has two servers the p2p server without a cash shop and the p2p server with a cash shop.

Perfect World International has "Tamable" Summons (Some as large as golems!), if you go the female-only Venomancer, and some mystic summons are permanent.

Only plays Burst Magic DPS Classes and Healers.

The Occultist and Sentinel classes in Achaea summon a whole entourage of pets, so you have like 10 pets following you in combat. Occultists summon chaos entities and Sentinels summon forest animals.

Rift has a bunch of classes that can summon minions.

Grand Fantasia has a necromancer that can summon 3 types of minions.

Aion has a summoner class with a lot of summons. And they change forms as you get higher level skills of those summons.

    Currently Playing: Achaea

Dragon Saga or Dragonica also has an entire Summoner class line with the ability to summon multiple pets at the same time.
Only catch is you need to have a level 20 character to make a summoner, which will take 1-2 days depending on how much time you put into it.

Aura Kingdom has an eidolon system. Basically, every character has a pet that gives you stat boosts and fights with you. How useful it is though depends on how much you rely on it. They can either provide additional DPS, some healing or provide further buffs to you stats. Bards (the game's support class) can rely solely on their eidolon to deal damage while they just focus on staying alive and providing support.

I'm also going to have to recommend Dungeon Fighter Online like Ryukiri above. The game was previously run by Nexon, but they shut it down after they pretty much butchered the game with lousy support. The current producer is its developer neople, so it should be in better hands this time around. The game is currently in alpha testing, so most likely the servers are going to be wiped. Still, take the chance to try it out if you haven't yet. The Soul Bender isn't actually a summon class, but their main mechanic is summoning ghosts that provide AoE buffs/debuffs/DoT. Their most powerful skill is the aforementioned giant whale. Female mages can summon multiple spirits/monster to attack for them and can pretty much breeze through most of the regular game content (everything that isn't an ancient/otherverse dungeon). Mechanics are a gunner subclass that summons robots to help them, but male mechanics mainly focus on robots that only last a short time before exploding while females focus on a transforming support robot that follows them around. Necromancers also have summons, but their main priority is provide support rather than let the player sit back and watch as everything gets massacred. Their main summon late-game summons a giant that attacks whenever you do.
