    Default Entropia Universe: Latest Buzz

Latest post from MindArk the developers of Entropia Universe,
    originaly posted here, http://www.entropiauniverse.com/bull...nt-roadmap.xml

    BULLETIN
    LATEST BUZZ
    Communication and development roadmap

    Dear Entropians,

Given the real-cash aspect of the Entropia Universe economy, it has historically been MindArkís policy to be very careful when releasing information related to future development plans, mainly to prevent undue disruption of the economy. However, considering the plethora of information channels now available to participants to stay up to date on official Entropia Universe and Planet Partner announcements (the Client Loader, Facebook, Entropia Buzz, information from which is also syndicated on many community and planet forums), MindArk has made a decision to be more active in sharing its future development plans with participants.

    And the sharing starts now!

Below is a summary of some of the projects the MindArk design and development teams are currently focused on. In future communications we will give increasingly more detailed information on each of these projects, and announce additional projects as they become closer to implementation.

    Client & Server Stability
MindArkís highest priority during the next several releases will be improving stability of the Entropia Universe client. Several of the most common causes of recent client crashes have been identified and our developers are hard at work on resolving those to improve the Entropia Universe experience for all participants.

    New Player Experience
Ongoing improvements to the New Player Experience have been implemented with every platform and planet partner release so far this year. These efforts will continue to be a top priority during the rest of 2014 and into 2015 in order to maximise the marketing efforts of MindArk and the planet partners.

Creature Control System Stage 1 - (Planned for June 2014 Release)
You may already be aware of a new feature introduced not long ago which allows officials and planet partners to control various creatures during special events. This system will be extended to participants in the form of Creature Control Capsules, consumable items that will allow you to transform your avatar into a specific creature for a limited time. This fun feature will be made available exclusively through the loot system, and will be monitored closely to prevent abuse.

Taming Stage 1 - (Planned for Autumn 2014 Release)
Some of you will be happy to hear that we plan to (finally) reintroduce Taming to Entropia Universe. In the first stage the core functionality will be quite similar to the original taming system, with added improvements to usability and fun-factor. Initially, pets will be to able accompany your avatar in its Entropia Universe travels, with more pet abilities and features planned for later stages (see below).

PVP Improvements - (Planned for Autumn 2014 Release)
Various improvements to PVP combat have already been implemented this year and more are planned after the summer, including adjustments to the landgrab and fort systems.

    Taming Stage 2 - (Planned for Late 2014 / Early 2015 Release)
In this stage it is planned to implement additional skill-based taming abilities which will expand the capabilities of tamed creatures beyond the pre-VU10 taming system. In addition, a limited number of stables will be made available that will fulfill various roles within the taming system such as stabling, feeding, expert training, trading and more.

Creature Control System Stage 2 - (Planned for Winter 2014 Release)
Through a new Battle Octagon interface, your avatar will be able to control various creatures and challenge other avatars to battle in special CCS octagons. With lots of options for attack and defense customisation, each battle promises to be unique and exciting, especially considering the possibility of creatures and robots from different planets engaging in reckless combat against one another!

Taming Stage 3 - (Planned for Early 2015 Release)
Battle Arenas will be introduced which will allow tamed creatures to battle one another. Each battle will be unique, with a wide range of offensive and defensive pet buffs and upgrades along with customisable attack and defense profiles.

Web-Based Battle Arena - (Planned for Early 2015 Release)
A web-based Battle Arena game is planned for early 2015. The game will be developed as a cross-platform solution available on the web and for mobile devices, and will have direct ties to the Entropia Universe taming system. Players will have the opportunity to acquire, upgrade and customise their pets for battle against the pets of others.

Entropia Universe participants will have the ability to acquire Battle Arena Deeds and share in the revenue and excitement of the Battle Arena action. 200,000 Battle Arena Deeds will be offered via the Entropia Universe in-game auction and upcoming webshop at 100 PED each. Revenues generated from the Battle Arena Deed offering will be used exclusively for Battle Arena development and marketing. More detailed information about the Battle Arena Deeds will be made available very soon.

Affiliate System - (Planned for Early 2015 Release)
Work is moving forward on the affiliate program mentioned in the State of the Universe Address 2014, though the expected release date has been revised to 2015 due to integration requirements with other planned projects.

Citizenship & Political System - (Planned for Early 2015 Release)
The announced political and housing system is still in the initial design and development stage. As with the taming system, we expect to roll out this system in several stages during 2015. Further information will be made available as each development milestone draws closer.

That and the political/Housing system has piqued my interest in the game again. May need to come back and see what's up when they're available.

One of you will share your home with me, right?

I have played EU for years, and 90% of what they are planning now will not be done, i guarantee it. The whole 2013 and 1st half of 2014 should've been filled up with great updates that actually help people not to gamble, but to have a wide range of opportunities to play the game. Like they promised to add worthy loot to every creature in the universe so that people can choose which mob to hunt and not lose that much $...

Anyway, the game's pretty awesome for the first 1 year, you are drowning in it. There were times when i won a lot and lost even more but it hooked me up cause my avatar is always there with all those skills lvled up waiting for meh.

There are top level ubers who have deposited next to nothing.
There are mid level players who try with 100s or 1000s a month just for the fame.

Lower levels are cheaper of course but once established 50 a month is plenty to maintain a high activity level if you play wisely. (Thats my personal budget for the last 5+yrs and I am worth more than the sum of them all)

so if I wanted to start this game and be half-decent I'd need to drop around $50 a month? Game seems interesting but I'd never be able to afford that.

It all depends on play style, motivation, and real life skills.

If interested I could discuss strategies for whatever budget you wanted.

Depends on what you mean by "Half-decent" do you mean be in the top-tier? Or do you mean just have fun? Just having fun, you could probably get buy with an initial investment of $60 and then $15 a month after that, similar to any other p2p MMO. I put in $20 and had a decent amount of fun, but (like I always say) the over-all feeling of the game being a giant slot machine put me off. Perhaps if I had gotten into the more player-controlled stuff, such as merchanting/crafting/trading/etc... rather than mining I would have felt different. Hunting I wouldn't like much, as the very first time I tried the game I attempted to be a hunter and got bored/annoyed pretty fast.

I was able to almost break-even on my investment with my time as a miner, and should have $15 or so in PED along with $5 in equipment still on my character. Keep in mind I only played for 2 weeks to a month or so.

I can't help but see this game and think about how much more successful the game would be if it was actually a good game.
I can see why it can be addicting, but the same can be said about RuneScape... neither are really -good- games.

I would love to see a modernized, true action based game like this.

Well that is so open ended a question I can't really answer, all I know is that 50$ a month is more than you want to spend.
What do you want to spend?
What do you want to accomplish?
Are you social or a loner?
Are you good with math and mathematical theory, or are you hands on only?

Answer those questions, and I can answer yours

Ok, so you have some peds in game. (otherwise you couldnt have bought the toys ;P )
I am guessing you are not on Rocktropia since you can get both of those items free in beginner missions there, so you are probably on Calypso or Arkadia.

I will guess Calypso since it is the most common one.

Have you done all the starter missions at icarus and port atlantas?

Once that is done, I would alternate my time between starting your puny iron missions (kill 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10,000) and using your helicopter to get to all of the teleporters on the planet you are on. (google a current map of your planet to know where they are) You can only use teleporters once you have already been to them, so you need to physicaly travel to (all but a couple of free ones they give you to start) all of them on your own, this is one of the first activities alot of players do.

Study what is the most economical weapon for your skill level in the discipline of weapons you want to use(blp or laser, rifles or pistols, swords or knives or powerfists, or mindforce(scifi magic)
You will only want to use weapons that have a Skill Increase Bonus (SI and once you have reached level 5 you will only want to use ones in which you are maxed on.

Some people get confused as to what maxed means on sib weapons. Maxed doesn't mean that you are in range, but that you are beyond it and have reached maximum efficiency.

Suppose a weapon is SIB level 5. When you are at level 4 it will say you are at 80%, this means 80% till you are at the minimum level to use it. Most weapons are maxed at 5 levels above their minimum, so you would be maxed on it at level 10.

If you look at the info window on an item, it will show you your personal stats for it considering the level you are currently at.
The 3 things you want to see are,

    1. SIB = Not anymore (this means you are maxed)
    2. Damage Interval 5-10/5-10 (this means you are maxed on damage, if you were not maxed it would be something like 2.5-5/5-10, or whatever the actual damage range is for that item)
    3. Hit Ability 10.0/10.0 (means you are maxed on your hit ability, if your level is lower it will show something like 7.5/10.0)

It is in your best interest to always hunt in a methodical way, figure out how much ped it takes you to kill xxx number of creatures and track from hunt to hunt seeing if you can trim it down any with different strategies.

That is the start for hunting, if you prefer mining, then we can go into that as well.

    narfi

edit: in response to the video above, that is NOT how I would recommend playing. If you choose to start completely for free and want to gather sweat, it is much more entertaining and social if you go where groups of people are doing it together. Though with free spawns of oil, beer, fruit, stones, etc... I am not convinced that sweating is even one of the top options anymore.

If playing for absolutely free I would recomend gathering or sweating etc... till you could buy a medical tool, then hiring out as a medic. In my opinion it is much more fun having a 'purpose' with a service than the repetition of trying to milk a few pennies alone in the corner like that.

when starting out not much, the best approach is to charge Decay only and accept tips from your hunters if they have good hunts. (some advertize decay+tips, but that sounds a little needy imo)
So starting out you wont make much in terms of profit, but you will gain 'free' medic skills by actually playing the game, plus a little ped here and there, but more importantly a reputation with tomorows big game hunters.

Once established you will start working your way up to better tools. There is decent demand for medics with tools in the 1-5k ped price range. At this stage you will be gaining skills faster since you are using bigger tools, and the tips will likely be larger on good hunts because the hunters will be '********' at a higher level.

At the highest end you can charge a flat rate of 50-70ped an hour using a tool in the 150k+ ped range. http://www.planetcalypsoforum.com/fo...od-fap-service
This is more than enough to provide for a family in a 3rd world country, but the investment is significant as well.
