Default is it weird to lock your door?

I'm just curious. My family all tends to lock their doors. Home alone, night time, out front swimming, corner store trip...always have it locked.

I do it as a habit and sometimes even lock myself out on accident because I locked the door when subconsciously I went out to be the garbage can without my key lmao.

I knew a pretty ballsy kid when I was younger that used to pretty much ask to end up on the wrong side of an home intrusion case. He would on a dare turn people knobs at night, it was an advanced form of ding dong ditch.

Coincidentally, he didn't stay free very long.

I lock my door cause I have an apartment and sometimes you get people who accidentally try to open the wrong doors cause of how the wings are set up.

Not only that but it makes your renter insurance useless.

mine are always locked. i even double check them before i go to bed. get super paranoid if they're left unlocked.
the future is bleak, uncertain, beautiful
tomorrow they might come and arrest us all
only if you listen closely can you hear the machines
    beneath the side walk whispering
the machines beneath the side walk are
    always whispering
    strive to listen close
    please, try to be free
    don't be afraid

I do. It's odd not to lock your door, honestly. In small towns, it's not so much an issue, but if you live in a town with more than 30,000 people, there's going to be a decent crime rate.

I dunno. I have friends stop by and ask what the hell the door is locked for when I'm home. Made me wonder if I'm just weird or if they are lol.

i guess it just depends where you live. i don't live in a super dangerous part of town, but there are a lot of tweakers and homeless folks wandering around nearby. i'm not paranoid, i don't think, but i'm not just gonna leave my stuff open lol

Come to think of it, the friend who was questioning it literally has an insane arsonist with a warrant out who also has a grudge against his whole family missing from the police and breaking I to his garage. I'm gonna text him to lock his door.

I pretty much lock everything, except the back/front door. The only way to sneak up on me is climb over the shed and by that time my highly trained assassin will have barked and I could just let the smoke alarm go off, so the firefighters/police will come over without me needing to call
