Most P2P games see much more success when going F2P (see: Tera, Aion)
Currently playing: FFXIV (Elucifer Arclight, Brynhildr server), LoL (Zacewing, NA server), SMITE (Zacewing)
Nothing is free...but not everything is worthy of a monthly fee. Games with way above F2P quality which still fail to provide decent content and fixes within a reasonable period of time so in the end they have to go F2P because they know they'll be at the top list of the F2P market. I remember Aion didn't apply a single "patch" for about 8 months when it released...that's a very long period of time considering the content within the game wasn't that "enjoyable" for such period of time. And the patch they introduced after those 8 months was just a "minor" one that didn't add much to the game for a long time.
And Tera...well...it was quite a crappy release to be honest. Content/features not making it for the release (not anytime soon either), and a lot of crap going on, specially on the so shitty Frogster EU version (now called "Gameforge"). You couldn't expect the publisher of Runes of Magic to do anything good with a so called "AAA" title.
Wildstar? Same thing...I never expected it to be good, so I didn't even buy it. I'm done purchasing more "AAA" P2P releases unless they try to sell me the real deal instead of smoke.
Bought it played actively for 2-3 days, ran into not one single other player.
I even googled around for which server had a high population and went with the highest.
By no other player I mean nobody interacted back to me, I saw no chatting occurring, and for the most part even those drone players weren't even around. combine that with the fact that after 2-3 hours of playing the game would shit itself and require me to close it, the god awful UI, the terrible optimization, and the telegraphed attacks and it just wasn't mind type of game. Wish they offered a refund system like Guild Wars 2
Just a friendly reminder to never ever play a game published by PWE(Perfect World Entertainment)
It always takes 2-3 months for the hype train to crash. And then people realise the game isnt actually any good at all. Since they've burned out of content, and it doesnt have anything worthwhile to do. I already knew that in the free beta tests I played. Never subbed. But...still better then FFXIV lol.

Wild is so overrated to me its not even funny. Nothing about that game is special
I'm enjoying watching history repeat... Going to love the game while I can before the crowds rush back to WildStar in the future when its business model changes. You might say you'll be coming back En Masse.
