Heh, it might be a good idea to not swallow the salt water. I definately havent heard of the JD cure though, that actually works?

if you eat sumthing afterwords you'll be ok and drink normal water after also helps... but swallowing it is only way to get it thru ur throat effectively gargling does virtually nuthing except on your tongue and the outside of the throat... when you lose your voice its deeper

Plus, it's a great way to add more sodium into your diet, albeit in a scalding hot medium.

I presume it's hot, cold usually makes it worse.

I'm not sure if cold drinks or ice cream when you have a sore throat/strep throat make your throat worse in the long run. In the short run it actually numbs your throat so you feel less pain for a short while. Anyway just a month or two ago my school had it's whole bug which happened to be the strep throat which I happened to get. Good luck man, it's hella painful. My mom tried to get me to eat soup but it hurt too much and I ended up spitting a lot. NOTHING helps with a step throat except for medicine that you need to get prescribed (that tastes disgusting too).

Hot, but don't burn your throat. About as hot as you use for tea water, but you can just get hot water out of the tap and it'll be okay (that is to say if you have safe water).

People should be careful drinking dairy products when they have a sore throat, even if it may feel good. The thing is it creates a ton of gooey saliva way in your throat, and when your throat is tight already, it may make it even harder to swallow and can hurt your breathing if your nose is stuffed. I know this from personal experience, we had to call medic because I tried to down a chocolate milk when my throat was bruised and sore >_<.

No, I wish that's what he meant too. He actually does it, read up a little.

It sucks ass. I had laryngitis last week, and couldn't talk at all for about three days. And one of those days was my graduation. It's a pretty weird feeling. On the plus side though, you don't have to talk to annoying people.
