Wanting a "The World" MMO is just ****ing stupid.Just tell them you want some sort of online for the (hopefuly) next batch of .hack// games, Co-op or a system like guild wars.Main lobby where everyone meets, and the dungeons instanced.Simple.
A full fledged The World MMO is never going to happen though.
Quite stupid of you to think that.
Just like the offline games, no "VR Goggles" are necessary.
It's entirely possible to play the game using a monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
Hell- if you know anything about .Hack, you'd know that, even according to their "storyline", it's possible to play the game using a monitor, because some people aren't able to afford the pricey "VR Goggles".
However, I don't recommend asking the developers of the offline games to make it.
As much as I enjoy them, they fall short in many ways.
If we could get Square-Enix working on it, though... :3
As you can see, VR goggles and a classic controller were used in .hack//sign, we have that technology right now, its $600-$800 not so much, in a few years, it'll drop by a lot. I think by 2010, we may have some companies that at least base their game around VR, even if it isn't the mandatory.
Fact: The doubling time for technology right now is about 2 - 1.5 years. Thats just an estimate, but it decreases daily. Having cool shit in 2015- Very possible, by 2010, possible, but it would be too expensive not because it would cost to much to make, but because the software and the money gain that is wanted.
