ok if people think that there are mmoprg makers then it is possbily the funniest thing in the world, even if there were ones you have to realize how good they'd have to be just to make a bad game, seriously you need to be realistic.
Also you spoke about thinking ahead of hackers, and i have been trying ot research how to write this code (i use directx8 and c++), so how would you go about writing this? |

actualy there is a game program that works pretty simply but you have to develop mostly your own sprites and you can make rpg's but it takes more memory space go to http://www.gamemaker.nl too download it |

also visit their fansite www.mmorpgmaker.com
note that this links could help you loads, to everyone thinking he or she could create a mmorpg next day with 2million players on, keep dreaming
no really, my best advice is to new people who wish to create a mmorpg is to choose a programming language (Java, Blitz, etc) and if you are very new you could buy a begginers book, wich shouldn't cost too much.
you may look ast www.ebay.com or something, but anyway, you should also pay ALLOT for servers, the more players in your server, the more you should pay
and it could take 2 years to develop a good working, bug free, good mmorpg, and you should have ATLEAST 3 people working with you, with 1million USD you could pay 3 people for enough time to develop a good working mmorpg, its allot of money but its WORTH IT!
don't forget to pay the servers afcourse... | Hey, you're the guy that got banned from MMORPGmaker.com! Heh, good times. _________________

Try reading this article.
http://www.devmaster.net/articles/building-mmorpg/.
If you want to learn the basics of making a game you can download the SDK (software development kit) from
http://www.toolkitzone.com
It is a simple but powerful game kit that will teach you the basics like
1. Programming (logic, commands, techniques)
2. Character, Enemy, Item creations
3. Menu, Battle, Board making
The downside of this kit is it is not multi-player and no online capability but it can keep you starting to know the basics before you upgrade to advance MMORPG game development.
If you know programming, server configuration, and animation you can proceed on checking this two sites that can help you get started with your own online game.

I hope this helps MMORPG and RPG enthusiast like me. |
