With a result far exceeding the company’s expectations, Frogster concluded its Christmas charity project to benefit children and adolescents in Bhutan in January. Yesterday, the publisher of Runes of Magic, Bounty Bay Online and the upcoming Mythos was able to hand Save the Children Germany e.V. a cheque in the amount of 82,000 Euro thanks to the overwhelming support of the gaming community.
An anonymous hacker published two posts on the player forum of Runes of Magic, one early on the 13th of January, and the other during the course of the 14th of January 2011, in which he threatens to publish customer data and internal company information. To reinforce his claims for changes to forum policy and some of the technical aspects of the game’s operation, he publicly posted the login details of around 2,000 players.
Christmas is coming to Taborea (plus patch 3.0.7), along with a range of special events and promotions on a seasonal theme guaranteed to put Runes of Magic fans in the festive mood. Mid-December will see the start of the Snowflake Festival, conveying Christmas charm to the online community giving brave adventurers of Taborea the chance to earn great rewards for the completion of special daily quests. Players also get the opportunity to decorate their in-game houses with festive frills and plant seeds for magnificent Christmas trees.
Starting on December 10th, an outsized green menace will be stirring up trouble in the Runes of Magic fantasy world of Taborea. Publisher Frogster is inviting all players to take part in a massive boss hunt. Running until December 27th, participants who are able to face off against the menace on one of six days will have a chance at winning a cool 1,000 Euros each.
