Marvel Entertainment Inc signed a worldwide agreement with Gazillion Entertainment to allow the videogame publisher to make multiplayer online games based on Marvel’s characters.
Gazillion expects to launch its first Marvel-themed game, Super Hero Squad, in 2010. The game is targeted at a young audience.
Gazillion will also develop and publish Marvel Universe, a massively multiplayer game for personal computers and consoles.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Tuesday’s agreement is an exclusive 10-year deal between Marvel and Gazillion. Marvel and Gazillion will share revenue earned from the games, but did not reveal details of their financial arrangement, the paper said.
