TERA Announces Battlegrounds Coming Post Launch
Big news from En Masse Entertainment came in this week. TERA will not have battlegrounds at launch! Instead they are being delayed for an important rework that should be ready by summer of this year. While initial complaints are mounting, En Masse and some K-TERA players have confirmed that the battlegrounds that existed at the original launch were unfulfilling, exploitable, and used a primitive queue system.
So what does this mean for players at launch? A few things actually. One of the major end-game PvP functions will be missing. If you tend to power level to end-game and choose to roll a PvE server but still enjoy PvP combat, then you better get involved with a guild that likes to declare war often. Those seeking legendary PvP gear will still be able to find it, but it will now be available from the Nexus system instead of the battleground system. For those on PvP servers this means expect an all out battle at these events since they take place in the open world. A final major change is that the political system at launch will be 100% based on the election system. So start making friends if you want the title of Vanarch now!
So what plans does En Masse have for when the new battlegrounds are released? First off we should have a much larger map variety to keep tactics diverse. We’ll also be seeing dynamic traps usable by players as well as a tactical AoE skill reserved for each team leader. You’ll even be able to unleash monsters to ramp up the chaos of these massive team fights. Only time will tell if the wait is worth it but I’m still sold on the game.
