Final Thoughts
I always wind up missing more of the things I want to see and people I want to meet, so that I can get the most interesting and important coverage I possibly can. But it generally leaves me happy just to have been here. One of the things I really notice that makes me happy is that everyone, of all ages, ethnicities, anyone can come here and have fun! I saw elderly couples trying games together, checking out upcoming indie games. It’s so wonderful! People come together for the love of games, of comics, and costuming. New friends from across the globe! Making new ones, seeing others for the first time, it’s a magical, but exhausting experience. My opinions on many titles ultimately changed after seeing the work that developers are putting in. My first impressions of games that I only experienced via video or reading made me feel different once I had them in my hands.
Some of my favorites that you need to look out for:
- Eternal: I really really feel different about Eternal now. I used to really poke harshly at Hearthstone style card games, but I think it’s got a lot of potential. I do think the lore is a bit bland now but I don’t know much about it.
- Super Dungeon Tactics: This is really interesting. The board game and the video game title are really capturing my attention right now.
- Lawbreakers: I’m so glad to see this game continue to grow and advance. It’s very ballsy and gritty. The dev team and community are all really pleasant.
- Final Fantasy XV: Yes, this is fantastic. Every single thing about it was wonderful, at least so far.
- Smash+Grab: This is a new way to play team-based combat games for sure, or it is to me anyway. Being a gang that works together to loot and pillage? Yeah, it’s a ball.
- Obduction: I very briefly got a few times at the booth in passing [walking past it, pausing for a moment before being crushed under afoot. . .] but it is gorgeous and interesting. I’m going to be getting my hands on it very soon to review. I look forward to it!
