Paradox Interactive have announced today that they have agreed to acquire 100% of Harebrained Schemes (Harebrained Holdings, LLC) for a purchase price of 7,500,000 at the time of purchase plus an additional 25% of the acquired business’ earnings before publishing costs over the next five years to the extent such earnings exceed the fixed purchase price. Scheduled to close on June 7th, 2018, the BATTLETECH developers will join as a full internal studio in Paradox, home of some truly terrific strategy titles. Harebrained will have their own internal management and creative teams, designing games that they specialize in, but with access to Paradox Interactive’s distribution, financial support and a brand new network of strategy enthusiasts. This is great news for Harebrained Schemes fans, as now their quality strategy games will have a whole new level of exposure and reach. The Paradox Interactive Twitch will be hosting a live-streamed Q&A in the near future discussing this new arrangement.
“Harebrained Schemes have proven themselves as a world-class studio with a very talented team within a genre where Paradox wants to be present,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive. “In addition, we really like the studio, the people who run it, and their games; these are all absolute hard criteria for us in any acquisition. Our recent successful launch of BATTLETECH, our first project together, has been a fantastic collaboration, but the possibilities of what we can do together in the long term now that we’ve joined forces — that’s what has us truly excited.”
