Funtasy Online: Don’t Judge A Game By Its Cover

REVIEW

I was rather surprised when I received this assignment, given that the title is in Taiwanese Traditional Chinese rather than in English. But being the Chinese I am, I decided to give the game a brief spin with the Closed Beta account provided. I have actually been following the game's progress since it was announced last year, so why not? :)

Project Powder Review: Be Like a Pro

REVIEW

One of the best things in today's games is that you can become whoever you want to be. If you can't play real guitars yet you itch to be a musician just for a few minutes you have rhythm games such as Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Sports are no exception. You have online basketball, baseball and even soccer games out on the market. Now there's Project Powder.

BlackShot Review – BLOOD AND GOOOOOREE!!

REVIEW

If you're looking for a good MMOFPS (Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter) game then I suggest you try BlackShot. Much like its counterparts in the FPS genre, Blackshot takes players into an arena of wanton murder and bulletmadness. Not much has changed since the era of Counterstrike and Quake 3. You will be given some scenarios aside from the deathmatch setting, or other scenarios that are merely just renamed or tampered versions of capture the flag and plant the bomb. So what exactly makes Blackshot review stand out among its counterparts, let alone its predecessors?

League of Legends: A beginner’s introduction to MOBA

REVIEW

League of Legends (LoL) is another rising challenger in the unique genre of Defence of the Ancients (DotA) clones. That's quite a mouthful, let's just refer to them as Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas (MOBAs) from now on. LoL has two of the ex-DotA contributors on board their  team, Steve "Guinsoo", one of the early developers of DotA and Steve "Pendragon", who created the popular DotA fan-site. With these two on the team, there are high expectations for LoL.

Saga Review: Combining RTS and TGC

REVIEW

When I first heard about this game, I was like "What the hell is this?!" An MMORTS? Really? I've seen tons of MMOs and tons of RTSes but to put them both together as one whole package does seem a little off. First of all, these two types of games barely have anything in common other than the unit population. Upon installing the game, I was anxious about what to expect, either it'd be close to DotA (Defense of The Ancients) or not.

Twelve Sky Review: Brutal Faction War

REVIEW

Twelve Sky is an MMORPG based around martial arts in an oriental fantasy theme of middle-age China. This game is for older gamers (17+) as it contains mature content (blood, alcohol reference...). You are however allowed to play the game if you have parental consent.

Smash Online Review: Much More Than Tennis

REVIEW

We've had Basketball (Freestyle), we've had racing (Krazy Kart), hell it's about time they featured tennis. Yes folks! Smash Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) Sports game that guarantees to satisfy your hunger for smashing and serving. One thing about this game is that it's region locked and can be only be accessed by people in Europe. Not to worry though, there are tons playing this game so feel free to challenge them in order to get to the top.

Cabal Online Review: Too Much Action

REVIEW

Cabal Online is a fast paced, combat oriented 3D MMORPG developed by ESTsoft, a company in South Korea. Just as all of its trailers suggests, Cabal Online sports a superior combat system that gives players an action-packed Dragon Ball-ish fight never to be seen in other MMOs. You could say that they were right when they said this was The Revolution of Action. With big monsters, a whole lot of light effects in each skill, excellent PVP, and more moves, this game is a benchmark for combat systems. Cabal Online is a grindfest (just to clear it up), and the only thing you will probably do is KILL KILL KILL. Not that I mind the whole grinding thing as we're probably used to it by now, especially since Cabal presents this outdated leveling feature with such style.

Allods Online Review: It’s not WoW

REVIEW

There have been a lot of MMOs lately that have taken the WoW interface and used it in their own MMORPG. Developers who have taken this route have had hits and misses which ended in the labelling of their MMORPGs as mere "WoW Clones". Allods Online is a good example of such an MMO. You can see a lot of WoW elements incorporated to its interface and gameplay. However, what separates Allods Online from other half-baked MMORPGs is that it has managed to refine itself into an MMO that can get the attention of even a jaded gaming market.

Dreamlords: The Reawakening Review: Cross Between Two Genres

REVIEW

There is more than one subcategory of Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games; one of these revolves around the RTS (Real Time Strategy) factor. In order to cater to other types of gamers, MMO developers must come up with more than one stereotypical type of MMO, hence Dreamlords.
