Voyage Century: City-Building System Update Coming Soon

With the new version of VCO test approaching the end, the City-Building System update will be released soon. The officials have already announced the City-Building System update rules.

How can a Guild Built City level up?
After reaching the required leveling index, each guild member can find the [Construction Minister] and pay the appointed leveling fund and provide the required leveling materials to meet the requirements. When the guild meets the leveling material requirements, the Leader or Vice Leader can level up the port. The port will obtain one [Development Point] after each level. Meanwhile, there is a Cooling Time before the next leveling.

Leveling Rules:
1. Meet the development index requirements.
2. Meet the leveling requirements.
3. Requires a Cooling Time before leveling again.
4. Only the Leader or Vice Leader can level up the port.
5. The port can be leveled up when the Residual Leveling Time is 0.
(The system will give a prompt to the guild leaders about the residual leveling time before the next leveling.)

As some Elf Online (http://elf.happymmo.com) veterans players come to a conclusion, the best pk team includes 1 hypnotist, 2 doctors 2 hunters. And Pet choices are 1 control pets and 4 agil pets. Control pets has many manipulation skills that can help win a team duel. Mostly under then enhance branch, there are skills that decrease players attack and defense , and speed. For agil pets which has the fastest speed and highest attack, they are the main source of attack which can kill any targets in a blink. Suggested skills are multiply attack , madness and joint attack.

Some other crazy but yet effective team combos proven players include:
5 doctors which are immortal.
Or 5 assasins who enjoys crazy speed and finish enemies in 2 store points possible.
Or 5 hunters who use all team attack spells

Myth War Online In-game Olympic Torch Relay

Event Background: Nothing is fiercer than the competition of the Olympics. Each match is a test of mental and physical strength and endurance. More than that, the spirit of teamwork is more important. Of course, the spirit of teamwork is an important aspect of Myth War (http://mw.igg.com/) too.

The Olympic Torch Relay started on March 24th. In order to welcome the Olympics, the Myth War team will be holding an In-Game Olympic Torch Relay event.

Event Duration: From 3:00pm to 5:00pm on April 19th and April 26th (server time)

Event Contents:
1. The GM will ask players some questions in the System channel. The first two players who answer correctly can take part in the In-game Olympic Torch Relay.
2. Go and find the GM in the appointed city and obtain 3 fireworks from the GM. Then ignite one of the fireworks.
3. Give the other two fireworks to one of your friends in another city and ask your friend to ignite one of the fireworks.
4. Your friend should go to the appointed city and give the third fireworks to another GM in the appointed city. Meanwhile, your friend should also correctly answer the GM’s questions.
5. The team who finishes the relay with the fastest time will be the winner.

Event Rewards: 100 Fortune Bombing Integrals and Super Roses.

Angels Online Review

Angels Online is one of the newer titles released by IGG. Just like all of their other titles, it is free to play with an item mall. The premise behind this title is that you are playing an Angel that is trying to prevent heaven from being destroyed. Yup, apparently Lucifer loved an Angel, was cast off, and now seeks revenge. To prevent this from happening you must choose a class and take up arms against him.

Right off the bat you will notice that it is done with 2D artwork. It is nicely done and there is really nothing wrong with it at all. My concern though is that it is now 2008 and most computers can handle an independent client that is full 3D. If this were a browser based game then I would not even have a gripe at all about this, but with a stand-alone client I have to feel that we need something a little more appealing.

The sound was a bright spot for Angels as I really got hooked on the music that plays. Catchy little tunes that repeat themselves after a short time, but are a drastic improvement over the music in other IGG titles. This was one time I did not have to mute the music to enjoy the game. While the sound effects were fitting for the most part, I would have liked to have heard some different ones. There are gigantic robots you get to ride in that have huge engines, yet I did not hear any noise from them. A minor complaint, I know, but one nonetheless.

When it comes to the gameplay, the best I can describe it is “varied”. Depending on the job you choose when creating your character you can either do a lot of combat, or a lot of crafting. In playing I found that there was no effective way to do both on a single character. Fighters need skills for combat while crafters need skills for gathering materials and turning them in to something useful. Ultimately it leads to someone making multiple characters if they want to do both and detracts from the game itself. On top of that, there was nothing really compelling about the game. It was not bad, but it was not good either. If I was forced to describe it, I would best use the word “mediocre”.

Another let down was the community. With a game that has such a large part of it dedicated to a player-driven economy there was little interaction with other people. Few took any time to answer questions and the chat box barely ever moved. This is not IGG’s fault, but it would benefit them if they can figure out a fair way to reward good community members then the game would be a lot more enjoyable for all.
Overall, Angels Online is a very average game. It does some things right, some things wrong, and other things it just…does. This is no fault of IGG as they are merely publishing the game. That being said, to bring this game up from being average they need to work with the developer to make the game more compelling to play.

World of Kung Fu Interview

Onrpg: What is the setting for World of Kung Fu?
The World of Kung Fu is set in a fantasy world based on ancient Chinese myths and legends, where players can join their own schools and countries to help create a “Wulin”, or traditional Chinese Kung Fu society. The graphic environments were inspired by some famous Chinese landscape paintings, and I think that’s reflected in a lot of the game’s locations.

Onrpg: How is World of Kung Fu unique from other martial arts MMOs released lately?
One of the first things you notice is that it’s a graphically well designed game. It looks more like a game you would buy than a standard free-to-play game. That’s the first thing. Second, we’ve really been trying to focus on customer support. We have live, in game GMs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The GMs are part of the game and the game community, and we run events on a daily basis to help keep everything interesting and strengthen the community. We also have a staff of Game Sages, who are dedicated players that volunteer to help in the game. They’re awesome, and do a fantastic job. Also, we have a lot of features coming out soon that will help WoKF stand out from the crowd. Players will be able to become the King of a country in the game and lead their country into battle. The King can also bestow blessings on his/her citizens, like bonus experience and special buffs. We are also adding in a system where players can have children that become playable characters, as well as being able to have your own personal style of Kung Fu that you can teach others in your school.

Onrpg: Can you explain the various classes in a more condensed version than is available on the website?
Sure! Well, there are nine classes in the game, based on the fighting styles of using certain weapons. The weapons are Fan, Hooks, Hammers & Axes, Swords, Broadswords, Bows, Spears, Staves, and Fist. I guess the best way to sum these up might be to compare them to other classes players are familiar with. Fan users are the healers in the game, like a priest class. Spears and Staves are the warrior/tanks, where Spears are more damage and staves are more defensive.

Hammer/Axe are damage dealers. Lots of damage, but medium defense. Broadswords are the rogues of the game, while Bows are kind of a cross between archers and mages. The Sword is a nicely rounded out general type of fighter, probably closest to a Paladin in other games. Hooks are a strange class, but the closest I can think of would be to say that they are like a Shaman… a little of everything. The Fist class is difficult to place, because it’s played kind of like a warrior/rogue, but it’s really its own class. We will be implementing a system in the game that allows players to have children, and these children can “inherit” abilities from their parents, so it will be possible to make a “custom” class in the future.

Onrpg: How big of an impact do the various tradeskills have on the game?
Quite a bit actually. You can forge your armor and weapons to give specific bonuses to your character, and most of the items required for forging require you to have certain items that you’ll need to make. Every type of forging, refining or processing in the game gives you reputation which can help increase your abilities and give you access to really great items. So the higher your level in the tradeskills, the better the types of gear you can make, use, or sell.

One of the largest concerns for most games is the “grind”; some games require way too much time to level and others nowhere near enough. What has the feedback been from players and staff alike so far?
At lower levels, the grind is pretty quick in this game, but as you get higher, we’ve had some reports from players that it’s a bit too much. We’re adding in some new content in upcoming patches to give more quests and other options to help reduce this. We’re trying to reach a happy medium here. One cool thing in WoKF are items called “Duplicate Tokens” which drop off monsters everywhere. They let you repeat quests multiple times, and if used properly, they can really help you to level up with much less grind. Our GMs also run many events daily and a lot of these offer double or more experience. Like I said, we’re still trying to find a nice middle ground so that everyone is happy!

Onrpg: What are the bosses in World of Kung Fu like, and do they hold up to the truly epic battles that require many players to fight or are they something that 1 person can handle?
Well, that depends on the battle. There are some lower level bosses that one player can handle by themselves, but for the higher level bosses, it’s a good idea to have a group. A lot of instances in World of Kung Fu require you to be in a group to help promote the team play aspect of the game. Most of the bosses are based on characters and supernatural creatures from Chinese mythology, and some of them are HARD.

Onrpg: Is the game still in open beta or have you actually launched the title?
We’re still running in Open Beta right now, and we will be doing a full launch after the localized US version is caught up to the Chinese version, which will hopefully be soon!

Onrpg: How often do you anticipate adding in new content?
We are trying to get big updates out every 2 months, but because we’re localizing the game from Mandarin Chinese, it can take a little longer. We’re working on a schedule now with the Chinese team to try and get them out faster! There’s a lot of great content coming up, and we’re anxious to get it to the players!

Onrpg: What are your views on Real Money Transactions, and do you anticipate implementing something similar to what two companies (PlaySpan and LiveGamer) have announced?
I’m not a big fan of RMTs, namely because if you introduce the opportunity for creating actual money from virtual items, games have a tendency to become filled with people looking to earn an income. From my experience, playing a game with friends and people who enjoy a game is much more fun than trying to play in a virtual world filled with people trying to reach a sales quota. But since these transactions are going to happen no matter what, I would rather see a legitimate system in place that is sanctioned by the developer/publisher than on a shady internet website, simply so that players don’t get ripped off. Honestly, I don’t particularly care for these systems, because I think that basically adding an “ebay” into a game is going to increase the number of “gold farmers”, not reduce it. We currently have no plans to use a system like this.

Onrpg: What is your favorite class to play and why?
I personally like Broadsword and Fist, namely because they fit with my preferred style of play. I like the Broadsword because it’s similar to the rogue style of play in other MMOs, a lot of sneaking up and attacking from behind… And I like the Fist style, because it uses a lot of powerful attacks. While it’s one of the harder classes to learn to use effectively, if you do learn it, it can be devastating at higher levels. Also, it’s great for PvP. Both of those classes mix well with the Hidden Weapons in the game. All the classes are good, but those are my favorites.

Wonderland Online: Game Strategy Collection

One week has passed since Wonderland Online ( http://wl.igg.com/ ) stated the Closed Beta test. The WL team firmly believes that by now some of our players must be very familiar with certain parts of the game, so they will be holding the “Game Strategy Collection” event for those veterans to show off their knowledge and to offer guidance to some beginners. The details of this event follow; so please read them carefully.
Event Content:
According to your experiences in the game, write your own special strategy.
The following are the topics choices (in the Event Zone) you can submit answers on. You can choose 3 topics at the most to offer advice on.
Strategy Themes:
(Level up) How to level up to level 30 quickly?
(Fancy Tent) How to create a fancy tent?
(Earn Money) Easy money making steps for beginners.
(Skill Point) How to distribute skill points (each class)?
(Quest) The quests in each village.
Event Rules:
1. Your strategy should contain a title, and the content should be related to one of the above themes.
2. The strategy should be original; if there are duplicates, the first one posted only will be counted.
3. Concise Strategies including pictures are preferred.
4. There is no word limit.
5. Strategies containing aggressive, vulgar, or obscene language will be instantly rejected.
6. If the work is judged to be excellent, the author will be rewarded. IGG reserves all the copyrights of the works you submitted.

New Feature:

1. Path Finding: Click the "Path Finding" button on the right and select the destination in the list, you will walk to the place you want to go to automatically. We’re introducing this in Market, Job Center and Phoenix Castle this time, more maps will be released soon.

2. Quest released for new comers to the Hand In Hand Event! You can get EXP as a reward from the Token Awarder (436, 382) in Twin City when you reach level 10, 30, 50, 70, 90 and 100. (Details)

Bug Fix:

We have fixed a bug that prevented you from returning to your original size after using a disguise. After this patch, you can not change your size when you are in disguise.

Angels Online: Melee Combat Skills Preview

There are more than 30 different kinds of spells in Angels Online (http://ao.igg.com). By learning them, players can be on their way to the career of their choice. Special spell combinations may even lead them into surprise careers and titles.
In order to get to know the spells in Angels Online, players don’t need to choose any one of them at the very beginning. After creating a character, players can choose one career out of the14. They can then choose which type of spells that they want to learn after they have become familiar with the content of the game.
We talked about the mage’s spells last time; so today Angels Online (http://ao.igg.com)Team from IGG are going to go further on the introduction of the Melee Combat Skills of fighting system.
Melee Combat Skills
1. Sword Skill: Improves the attack power of the sword and falchion. You can learn sword skills and improve your skill level by using them.
2. Axe Skill: Improves the attack power of the axe and hammer. You can learn axe skills and hammer skills and improve the skills by using them.
3. Spear Skill: Improves the attack power of the spear. You can learn spear skills and improve the skills by using them.
4. Enhance Skill: Increases defense. You can improve the skills level through melee attacks.
5. Grapple Skill: Increases physical attack power. You can improve the skills level through melee combat.
6. Shield Skill: Increases defense. You can improve the skills level by using shields during melee combat.
7. Reserve Skill: Increases attack power while enabling you to also collect SP quickly. With an increase in your level, the chance for a critical strike will also be increased. You can improve the skills level through ranged attacks or melee combat.
8. Finesse Skill: Enables you to use both hands to hold weapons or increases attack speed. You can improve the skill through melee combat or ranged attacks.
9. Garment Skill: Enables you to wear garment armor. You can improve the skill level by wearing armor during melee combat. However if you use ranged weapons like a bow when you are wearing plate armor, your attack speed will be very slow, and you can’t cast spells as well either.
