Top 10 Awesome Stuff to Increase Your Gaming Zen
Top 10 “AWESOME stuff” to Increase Your Gaming Zen
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), OnRPG Journalist
Tired of playing your favorite MMO games in a dull and swamped up surface? Well, here’s a lot of stuff that would enhance your gaming abilities. No I’m not talking about your skill, but if proper gaming zen makes you function well on the battlefield, then maybe it’s that important after all (O.O). Anyway, here’s a list of stuff that’s sure to enhance your gaming zen.
Awesome item Number 10: The figurine
Any collectible that has to do with your favorite MMO will greatly enhance your gaming zen. Perhaps it’s the feeling of actually owning something that resembles the game that increases your power level. I for one have an Illidan (World of Warcraft) action figure next to my PC. Since I have an undead warlock (demonology to be exact), seeing Illidan would often boost my enthusiasm whenever I go on raids or fight enemy players. Activating Metamorphosis (or Demonic transformation) on a given time (namely: when my mp3 music reaches a climactic pitch) gives me goosebumps all over. It may seem rather fanboyish or geeky, but the main fact that you’re playing the game for countless hours make you geeky enough to begin with (so why not take it to the next level?).
Note: if you don’t have a figurine, an AWESOME gaming mug would do.
Awesome item Number 9: The fridge
Ever had the feeling when you’re just too tired to play but still kept playing otherwise? Having the fridge next to you may greatly enhance your gaming Zen. Much like studying, you can’t play on an empty stomach, and there’s no better way to grab a snack than to simply reach over to the right (or left) and grab one. If getting a fridge is too expensive for you, then perhaps a small cooler (with tons of ice) should do. Why the cooler? That’s simple… Beer! (And lots of it) Nothing beats the burning sensation of having to drag your character while gulping down a large quantity of beer through your (insert game title here) mug (well, at least if you picked the second option for item number 10).
Note: allergic to alcohol? Soda will do, or any liquid concoction that suits you best. Chocomilk + gin tonic on a raid, anyone?
Awesome item Number 8: The Fan
Remember those days when you start feeling the effects of your character having to walk through the desert? No sir! That’s not nextgen technology! It’s friggin hot and you might want to consider getting a fan. USB fans are quite famous nowadays as it sits comfortably right in front of your desk, letting you feel the game’s tropical breeze aside from the badlands’ humidity.
Note: When smoking, you might want to consider pointing the fan somewhere else (you wouldn’t want ash in your face, trust me). And if the heat is just too much, consider turning on the air conditioner.
Awesome item Number 7: The speakers
Other than intense visuals, nothing takes you deeper into the game than the explosions that manifest in your own rig. There are tons of awesome speakers out there, and you don’t even need to buy the expensive ones to enjoy a game’s 5.1 goodness.
Note: drawback includes parental nagging “IT’S TOO LOUD!”
Awesome item Number 6: The gaming mousepad
Although this item is cheaper than the rest, most gamers actually hate using generic
mousepads. Try getting a decent one and a game-signatured one at that. I’m sure these mousepads are easy to find and you don’t really need to storm Ebay for another overpriced auction. Aside from in game visuals, nothing beats the EPIC JUSTICE of having to see an excellent rig (complete with gaming mousepad LOL)
Note: Razer Mousepads enhance both your gaming zen and gameplay. It’s not that expensive so GO AND BUY ONE!
Awesome item Number 5: The Kickarse monitor
Come on! Don’t tell me you’re contented with that measly 15″ piece of junk! There are a lot of good monitors out there. You’ll probably get an awesome 22″ deal for 200 bucks (or possibly cheaper)! The bigger your character, the better your gaming Zen. The visuals tend to be more immersive when you look at them through your kickarse monitor (trust me). Grab a couple of 3d glasses and you’re probably on your way to the matrix LOL.
Awesome item Number 4: Surround Headphones
Razer Barracuda? Turtlebeach? Skullies? Sometimes it gets too troublesome when you use your speaker’s actual potential. I don’t even think I need to tell you that because it’s given that all gamers receive complaints regarding their speaker volume all the time. Surround headphones would usually be more practical kickarse speakers. Yeah sure, they don’t make the earth shake, but at least they don’t make your neighbors do their form of earth shaking. It’s a bit more expensive than most speakers and probably cost 25$ more. Look on the bright side; at least you have an extra mic.
Note: Mics are important for MMO players due to the effective usage of teamspeak.
Awesome item Number 3: Your gaming keyboard
Whether it’s the Sidewinder X6 or the mighty Razer Tarantula, it’s not mystery how a real gaming keyboard can optimize both your in game performance and gaming Zen. Gaming keyboard tend to glow when you plug them, so that serves as extra points for your rig design as well. The keys are well placed so your hands won’t have to wander far in order to cast a spell. Another thing that makes this baby one hard mutha fluffa would be the macro keys. I’m telling you, those things help you gain that unfair advantage over your enemies at any given time (sucks for them).
Note: Some gaming keyboard may not light up like the others, but even so… a gaming keyboard is A GAMING KEYBOARD.

Awesome item Number 2: Your gaming mouse
First if all, I think that the mouse is much more important than the keyboard. I’ve seen people smash their mouse claiming that something’s wrong. I’m not sure if that’s just another product of noob rage but hey, why not get a better one to avoid those mishaps right? Yep! The gaming mouse. It glows, it scrolls and is probably the most important part of any MMO’s control Meta. One thing you should know about computer mice (can I still use that?) is that not everyone shares the same grip. The best way to optimize your Gaming Zen and playstyle would be to find that particular mouse that fits your grip.
Note: if you think that you’re having problems with your grip then go get a new one. Gaming mice (there we go with that plural form again) aren’t that expensive so go and gain that unfair advantage.
Awesome item Number 1: The video card
One thing I hate more than a crappy mouse would be crappy graphics. Yeah, ever had a bunch of enemies slow your PC down? Sucks doesn’t it? I remember a time when we were leveling in the Cauldron (RF Online) when suddenly, some stupid noob accidentally lured the entire monster population towards us. Yeah the PC froze, I saw the Guild Master say “run!” but the PC was just too choppy for me to see where I was going. Don’t let this happen to you too. Always make sure your video card can take it. You don’t have to run the game at full specs, just make sure it doesn’t die on you when you need it the most.
Note: An effective way to kill this frameskipping madness would be to get a video card that can take the game’s max specs then setting it a bit lower to remove excess processing.

Well, there you have it! Again, I’d like to tell you that I am in fact a nerd. Toodles!
LOTRO: Mirkwood
The day of the siege is nearing. Sauron’s armies are getting closer, but the armies of Middle Earth will not sit still. They will fight in the forests and the hills. Let the war come!
Dragon’s Call: Closed Beta Preview
Dragon’s Call: Closed Beta Review
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), OnRPG Journalist
There’s probably no other browser game that can be as visually captivating as Dragon’s Call. For those for you who don’t know, the game is currently undergoing its closed beta stage. The interface is quite solid for a browser game and is actually a combination of various elements found in other browser games. The game does use a bunch of (obviously) recycled elements from other single player games, but that’s not much of a problem really.
The artwork is flawless and looks professionally made compared to the stick figurines and crappy sprites found in old age browser games. Though the game is heavy on awesome visuals, it’s not the only thing that makes this game worth playing. The game has a lot of features that will probably get you hooked for a very long time. This is perhaps the closest comparison you could ever get from a browser game to an application based one. I’m not saying that the app ones are better, but it’s what they’re trying to do right? Don’t believe me? Then let’s move forth and see this through.
Rise up adventurer! For it begins… here
Honestly, the interface made me feel anxious about starting the game. You’ll first get to pick between 3 character archetypes (namely: warrior, mage, and assassin). Again the emblems look like recycled elements from “censored”, but the artwork looks marvelous to behold. Surprisingly, each gender has its own artwork compete with sexy females (okay… more than enough reason to play this game lol). Each character has their own unique skills that allow them to gain their own advantage in combat. This is probably one of the best features in the game. The modifiers are actually felt in the game, and it’s really easy to see how strong you’ve become after leveling up (or acquiring a better item).
More! more! Me want more!
Quests have become a mandatory feature in almost every browser game today, and this one is no different. It is rather visual though since you can see NPCs as they talk to you, with a semi interactive feature that allows you to see quests on the map. Nothing new but it definitely beats clicking names and checking if they have quests. You can also do daily quests obtained from other NPCs to quicken the pace. If you think that’s all you can do for experience, the game also lets you grind it out on the training field. The training field is sort of like a lazy person’s grind house where they are free to grind around (for less experience points and no gold of course). This is the place where you can see the effectiveness of your hard work. Is that warrior ready for massive combat? Off to the training field! Another option would be to get a job from certain NPCs. Most of them are quite similar to questing but they do provide you with a nice set of rewards and privileges such as tax discounts.
PVP
Wow! A browser game with PVP? Excellent! Yes, Dragon’s call does have a PVP feature (believe it or not) which is simply accessed by clicking on the arena. No noobs here folks, for the arena only lets players ranging from level 10 onwards participate. The arena system lets your character challenge or be challenged by players who are within your character level. It’s pretty much the same as World of Warcraft arena bracket that lets players fight people who won’t kick their arse without a fight. This is perhaps the only thing that concerns the game’s PVP base but heck, it’s something you won’t see everyday, so go and have fun.
More features?! I thought we had enough of that already! LOL
The game also (or will also) has guilds and instances coming your way. Weird enough, they are really stretching the browser based limitations and are currently seeking more options for a heftier MMO feature. It’s as close as you can get to an app game, really. For those of you who cant devote yourself to playing games all day, Dragon’s call also has a BOT system (yes, you heard right) that lets you minimize the grind load by letting the bot do everything for you. Yeah, they’re not as good as human players, but at least they don’t die on you…. (often)
Swashbuckling
Combat in the game is separated into 2 categories: Visual and text based. You can pick whether you’d like to see your character fighting or just read the traditional text based damage calculation. The visual combat mode is similar to the Mybrute game, which basically means you get to see your character run back and forth, swinging his weapon and defending accordingly.
The interface
Oh ho! The interface is the first thing anyone would notice when playing the game. Bias aside, it’s just too good for a browser game. It even looks a lot better than Civilization (old school) in my opinion. The equipment window looks a lot like your regular MMO window, with sockets from where you can place your strongest gear to gain the uppermost advantage. The map is finely rendered with “!” an “?” to show you where quests can be acquired and surrendered. You also see your character breathe heavily across the map as you scroll from one place to another; definitely something you wouldn’t see on a daily basis (browser game-wise). For newbies, there’s a nice chat window on the bottom right portion of your screen where you can exchange ideas or just simply chat with other players while you’re playing.
The verdict
This is perhaps one (if not the best) of the best Browser games I’ve played so far. It’s new and all, which means that there’s a lot of hidden potential. Since the game is currently undergoing its closed beta phase, It’s a sure bet that this game will definitely evolve further. Excellent artwork, stunning features, hefty visual interface, this game is definitely taking taking one step further away from its genre. It’s still a browser game, but definitely one that surpasses the rest… Cant wait for the finished product!
The good:
– Excellent interface
– Talent Tree
– Promised content sounds PROMISING
– Diverse gameplay
The bad:
– It’s not out yet!!!
– (I really wish I could give another con… but it’s really hard to scale such an awesome game).
Flyff Interview V14: The Lost Continent
Flyff Interview V14: The Lost Continent
Questions by Eline Stiekema, OnRPG Journalist
Online RPG Fly For Fun (a.k.a. FlyFF) has a new version out. This fourteenth update carries the intriguing name ‘The Lost Continent’. Players who are ready to take a new challenge, are about to explore exciting new territories and meet new and dangerous Masquerpets. Also, two new dungeons are ready to be explored by the bravest. OnRPG spoke with the developing team to find out more about this new update.
Onrpg: Sounds intriguing, ‘the lost continent’… What’s the story behind this? How come this continent was ‘lost’?
Shaduwar was recently rediscovered by an explorer named Bartholomew Hunt. In the beginning, Madrigal was part of a much bigger world called Roika. One of the Evil Clown Goddesses, Shade, broke up Roika and sent several smaller continents afloat. These new continents as a whole became known as Madrigal, and consist of Flaris, Saint Morning, the Garden of Rhisis, Darkon, and now Shaduwar.
Ihabitants of Shaduwar
Onrpg: What can players expect when they start exploring this new continent?
When players first step foot on Shaduwar, the first thing they will be greeted with is the expedition camp, Fallen Leaf. Although, these folks shouldn’t let the relative sanctuary of the Fallen Leaf Camp deceive them, however, as beyond the camp there are several dangerous new high-level Masquerpets to contend with. In addition, players exploring Shaduwar will find new quests, new weapons for all job classes, and 2 new instanced dungeons containing some of the fiercest Masquerpets any FlyFFer has ever encountered.
Onrpg: You decided to add two new dungeons. Can you say anything about what players will find in them? How is the response to the dungeons coming so far?
For those players brave enough to enter the new Aminus Dungeons, they will immediately find that if they did not bring friends, they may be in for a surprise ;). These new dungeons are designed and balanced in a way as to encourage players to form full parties in order to complete the dungeon. So far, the player response to the new dungeons has been very positive, however, I don’t think most players were prepared for how challenging these dungeons are!
Onrpg: Why did you decide to introduce a new way of upgrading items?
The reasons were two-fold. Prior to V14, players would often accidentally upgrade an item without protecting it first, which resulted in the item breaking. Additionally, the actual ‘act’ of upgrading was a bit tedious and drawn out. Now, in V14, players are prompted when the appropriate protect scroll has not been used prior to upgrading, and most types of upgrades can now be completely automated.
Wings received in V14
Onrpg: What are the other big improvements, compared to former versions of Fly For Fun?
All new quests, chain quests, weapons and masquerpets have been added as well as stunning new wings that players can use to fly around with. With the previous update, V13, although several new systems were implemented, there wasn’t a lot of new consistent content to enjoy. V14 offers new high-level content that not only our veteran players can enjoy, but also new and casual players can set a goal to work towards.
Onrpg: Which new development are you the most proud of?
I think the entire team agrees on this one. The Aminus Dungeons! We’ve actually spent some time on our off hours teaming up to try and take on these dungeons. I have to say, we failed several times, but we eventually bested the dungeons!
Onrpg: What kind of new developments can players expect of Fly For Fun in the future?
The next few version updates have already been planned out and Aeonsoft is already working on V15. Although I can’t go into specific detail, we’re very excited about some of the things we’ll be introducing in the upcoming versions. I think most players will be very surprised and excited about the new updates coming down the pipe. Stay tuned for more info!

Cabal Europe Tour: Investigating an amazing game in one day!
Cabal Online Europe Tour: Investigating an amazing game in one day!
Written by Mohammed Afzal (MageMoa), OnRPG Journalist
Tour offered by Anthony and Christo at Games Masters
Cabal Online is a fast-paced action MMORPG. It is licensed and published for the European English language market by Game-Masters.com. Cabal is a well known MMORPG among most gamers.
Being an OnRPG journalist does not mean that I have to be familiar with all MMOs. I have played most of them, but that does not take away the fact that I used to have little knowledge about Cabal Online. The game had never looked really interesting to me and I had practically given up on it after playing the game for an hour or two. A few weeks ago I was asked to do an in-game tour with a professional Cabal Online player. I accepted the amazing offer and the tour begun…
First impression
The tour took place on the European servers. The contact with Game Masters went really well and they helped me whenever I needed them. After all the preparations it was finally time to do the tour!
Me and my Ingame Pet
From the moment I entered the game I was pretty amazed. I used to play Cabal on an older computer, which meant that I had almost all the settings on low. Playing the game on the maximum settings was a real blast. The graphics were nice and the characters looked pretty decent. The character customization, however, was disappointing. You do not have many hairstyles and faces to choose from, which automatically leads to encountering many duplicates of your character in-game.
Gameplay
After meeting with Christo, the experienced Cabal player, and Anthony, Game Master’s community person, we were ready to set off. The first thing we did was checking all the available towns and fields of the game. A snowy town, a desert, a small settlement in the middle of the forest and so on! I was glad that the scenery showed so much variety. The gameplay was a little bit choppy, though. I, and other Cabal Online players, kept getting stuck without a real reason, which was not what I expected after taking a look at the game. It seems as if the developers did not pay much attention to the details.
After the sightseeing Anthony had to leave, but Christo decided to do a few dungeons with me so I could try the combat. The attacks and skills did not really impress me. They did look cool, being flashy and all, but the battles did not take any skill. I found myself pressing random skills and drinking some potions from time to time until my opponent was finally dead. It is really fun to look at your character stabbing a monster for a few times, but it gets really repetitive, especially with the huge amount of grind.
Fighting Beasts in Cabal Online Europe
The dungeons were as choppy as the towns. I decided to change my setting, restart my computer and so on, but nothing really helped. One of the party members ensured me that the choppiness was part of the game and that there was nothing to do about it.
The community of the game was really awesome. My party members told me about the game while crawling through the dungeons and they gave me a few tips and Christo did everything he could to increase my knowledge of Cabal and it actually worked! I have learned a lot about Cabal in that single day and I have to say that it was really worth it, despite the choppiness and the grindy combat.
At the end of the tour we decided to take a look at the toughest monster in-game. It was basically a huge flying robot with tons of minions around him. Killing the minions wasn’t a problem but the boss itself dealt a huge amount of damage so we decided to leave him alone after attempting to kill it.
Strongest Monster ingame
The tour was truly amazing. It was a nice and original way to inform a journalist about the game. Christo did a wonderful job and so did Anthony.
Basic information
The tour that I took was very informative. I learned a lot about Cabal and its features and all of that in just a single day, and now it is my time to inform you guys about this flashy game.
Cabal can undoubtedly be seen as a creative MMORPG. The game has 6 unique classes with many bright skills. You can gain skills by using skill points, which you can obtain by using your skills frequently, which is pretty awesome. The battle system is connected to the skill system, but I have to mention that it is pretty repetitive and definitely not unique. It is the basic point and click combat with tons of skills and auto-attack.
Boss Fight
Cabal Europe’s community is great. There is always someone that wants to help you out. Most of the players are very nice and polite and almost everybody speaks English. There is nothing wrong with the population either; Lower level towns might be quite deserted, but all the others are actually overpopulated. It might also be a good idea to search for a guild after leaving the lower level area. Guilds are very important in Cabal, especially for dungeons and PvP. Getting in a guild is not very hard; There are always guild leaders who are looking for new members.
Just as many other MMORPGs Cabal offers you some exceptional features including Nation Wars, Alchemy and Crafting. There is not much to say about these features other than recommending you to try them out when you get the chance!
Conclusion
Cabal Online is one of these games that deserves a try, even though it is not the most unique or the most fascinating free to play game. The graphics and community of the game are definitely astonishing, but Cabal is not my cup of tea because of the bad customization, dull combat and the lack of originality. It did not amaze me in terms of gameplay, but that is just me.
Cruising on my Motor Bike
Cabal Online offers its players a wonderful time and it is definitely worth a try for those who have never played it, and for me? Well, I had a great time, but I will leave it at that.
Now we finally get to the aspect you have all been waiting for: The ratings.
Gameplay: 7/10. Unoriginal gameplay, no skill required.
Graphics: 9/10. Wonderful scenery and flashy skills!
Community: 9.5/10. Amazing, helpful and polite.
Presentation: 6/10. Choppy, not very detailed, bad customization.
Overall: 7.9/10. Definitely worth a try!
