Savage Eden Review: Deities and Demons
Savage Eden Review: Deities and Demons
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), Onrpg Journalist
Savage Eden is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) that’s set on a rather celestial background. With Deities and Demons (yeah, we don’t get those often) who could ever resist playing this game? Here you’ll get the chance to immerse yourself in an all out war between four primary races: Demon, Deity, Humans and Dragons (geez, who could ever resist war?). After encountering a bigger threat, all four races managed to coexist to eliminate the giant colossus that befell them. Will this alliance last forever? Or should we expect a war between five races instead? Let’s find out!
First impressions
Despite the low end graphics, I was really surprised about how the game managed to create the magnificent level designs. What makes it even more thrilling is that there are a lot of diverse areas in the game. It does get pretty tiring when you end up seeing the same thing over and over again, right? In this case, the diversity of areas immediately delivered some fine points for the game. Although the areas in the game might differ from the rest, the field lacks space in general. This means that you don’t really have to walk for minutes before reaching a certain point. Still, afraid that I might run out of things to kill, I was quite surprised about how fast the monsters spawn in this game. If that doesn’t solve the space problem for you, then I don’t know what will. The game is really dark (no, not the hue) in terms of designs. You’ll be seeing a lot of celestially evil items/areas as you lurk around. It’s not new I know, but do you mind? It’s another dark world for god’s sake. GO AND ENJOY IT!

System
It’s quite rare for MMOs to have any other default weapon aside from bare fists. In this game however, guns are strongly implemented on the account that everyone uses them as their primary weapon. Each race has their own excellent sub weapons (whether it’d be axes, magic, or etc) that greatly compliments their usage. They also have their own specialties like jewel crafting, upgrades and even the ability to own a pet. Magic usage also depends on which race you pick so choose wisely.
The game runs on a stat based system that’s rather old and dated for most MMOs. Despite this fossilized way of leveling, nothing beats the old hardcore feeling of fully customizing your character to the last digit. You really can’t wield every weapon in the game, so make sure you choose your race and class carefully to further compliment your play style.

Back to the old hardcore days: Is that even a good thing?
Much like Rappelz online, the game makes you decide where to spend your acquired points. It would have been less troublesome if they just had premade stats for each level instead. You’ll be opted to choose between stats and skills whenever you level up (which makes it rather hard to progress faster), which makes it rather dull since you’ll often disregard skill for stats (skills>stats, skills can be seen, stats are barely felt). This type of system encourages stereotypical builds that turn the entire game into a clone fest. It’s merely the incurable disease of stat based MMOs. Everyone would always want to copy the strongest one. I don’t know about you, but I’ve had enough of the “Vit Knight” (vitality based knight) mentality back then in the early stages of Ragnarok online. Since vitality based knights prove to be the strongest back then, everyone just had to make one. That’s as bad as playing Street Fighter with a character selection screen that’s composed of nothing but Kens (It’s the plural of Ken LOL)!
NOT AGAIN!
One of the most outdated parts of this MMO would be its control scheme. The game uses the mouse for mobility and camera rotation. Aside from that, the keyboard will only be used for skills and other menu shortcuts like inventories, stat page and etc. You’d think they’re all over that click-fest by now, but I guess some games just don’t get it. It wouldn’t hurt to use WASD now would it?
The Graphics
I could say that I have no gripes whatsoever regarding the game’s visuals. The characters look a lot like wow characters though, especially since they’re a bit cartoony at some point (and some of those pillars look mighty familiar to begin with). The game may not have the most up to date graphic engine, but they did manage to make the areas come to life. The characters also blend well with their surrounding as well. They key to beautiful graphics would be the harmony between each element, and this game is a good example of how well these harmony can be executed.

The Verdict
All in all, the game isn’t that horrible. It may lack a lot of modern tools but it’s quite enjoyable. The controls are really poor NOW, though we can’t deny the fact that we’ve played countless games with this control scheme before (and enjoyed it). The graphics are awesome and would still appeal to most MMO players today. Stat based games are quite rare today due to their not so “newbie friendly” system. I would say that the game will more or less encourage its players to clone each another until the perfect build has been found. It does look pretty stupid when everyone walks, talks, and acts the same way right? The racial specialization is a good idea in my opinion, since it promotes the usage of each race in the game. I wouldn’t really recommend this game to anyone, though if you’re up to it, be my guest.
The Good:
-Visual Harmony (I have to say, they really projected each level well)
-Old school controls (for those who miss clicking around)
-Racial Specializations (At least they just don’t look different from one another)
The Bad:
-Old School controls (it’s not called evolution if it’s bad right? Pls stick with the meta)
-Stat builds (not newbie friendly and definitely the source of cloning)
-Grindy? (It’s all about preferences I guess.)

Muniz Online Interview: Neverending Fun
Questions by Vincent Haoson, Onrpg writer
Answered by Rui Moreira, Lead community manager
Onrpg: How is Muniz Online going along?
MunizOnline is a world of numerous possibilities, all requested by our own community. At first, a visitor may be intrigued by the unique design of MunizOnline, and its catch phrase to customize his/her avatar and pump it up. Indeed, this is when the fun starts! More than 4000 items are available for the creation of a look that corresponds to every and each member of the community. The first items are for free and once you’ve chosen how to dress-up, you’re ready to meet new friends on the chat. Discovering the chat rooms is a thrilling experience. The moods(^^’ lol vv @@ …) and the actions (!sit / !think / !jump) make your avatar an endearing living creature. Moreover, you can instantly make new friends and that’s the goal, by the way… Our Archipelago proposes you mini-games, and even the chance to get married. But what everybody’s into is to complete the collections and being rewarded for that. Each completed collection gives the right to a lottery of new items. And it doesn’t stop there! Once you feel comfortable enough among the other members (which will take 5 sec xD), you’ll be able to exchange your items, through the Bizness game. No one stays out of it! Great business, makes great friends, and so the game goes on.
This friendly atmosphere is assured by a group of voluntary moderators, members of our community who are happy to create live games and certify that we keep cool and fun at all times. A professional team is naturally behind them and a newly e-support system has been put in place, aiming the well-being of the community. Also, fun-activities hosted by our official group of moderators take place every day. Muniz is a never ending world of fun, fostered by the players themselves. If they say it’s time to create a booster of items about Lady Gaga… then it is this:

! We count today about 120 000 subscriptions on MunizOnline and we’re open-armed, ready to welcome more.
Onrpg: The game says that you are catering to teens but not all teens go for this kind of cuteness level for an MMO. What are the steps you take to encourage those more “hardcore” gamers to play Muniz?
MunizOnline does has unique graphics and this is possibly one of its most attaching factors. It’s always delightful to visit the chat for the first time. There are classy rooms, cute rooms… but also hidden and dark ones. Hardcore, soft, cute, starlish, whatever your style or your mood of the day is, there’s a place for you on MunizOnline. It’s up to you ! And what happens after finding out the chat and its rooms ? We cannot leave with at least a hand full of friends. Friends like you, coz’ we welcome all tribes. MunizOnline is a world where you can actually express both your dark and bright side. And why not a yellow, pink, green side? MunizOnline being a “no men’s land” for meeting new friends, putting together infinite combinations of looks and doing Bizness becomes at the end an “everybody’s land”.
For example, “tough” IS on the menu of the day for those who need to express the extra-energy.Boosters such as:

and powers such as

reveal one of the various dimensions of MunizOnline.
Onrpg: What was the reason behind making Muniz Online a game for teens?
Muniz is created for teens and by teens. Actually the teen public reveals to be naturally sensible to MunizOnline, specially to this possibility of creating their own world, as they compose their own look, minding their own “Bizness”, talk and have fun with their own friends. Muniz offers a chance to be whatever you want to be, trying different sides of you and putting it on the spotlight. The members of Muniz are the firsts to declare Muniz a land of teens and making it their home. We can only agree !
Onrpg: How do you think of creating events for Muniz Online? Where do you get the inspiration for the events?
The ideas for the events, which sometimes can last days or even weeks, come from the members of Muniz themselves. Some daily animation-games are created on the hit of the moment by the players , whenever they feel like getting some extra fun. It keeps up the liveliness of both Chat and Forums! Other game events are planned in advance, but always by the community who want to see their ideas become true. Participating or generating it, our members are present at all stages of our events. And the rewards are always on the menu, of course. The members have total support to host games that are rewarded with coins, items or xp points!
Onrpg: Do players have a say when it comes to in-game events?
More than that, players are at the origin of our game events, as said, and those events happen all the time. The community’s needs are always best full-filled when they’re answered by the community itself. Their participation can be seen, for ex., through the creations of drawings, films, pictures and fan-sites, that become part of the Muniz; such as Muniz Photos, Muniz Fanart, Muniz Fans and Muniz Film (via http://uk.chapatiz.com).
Onrpg: Would you be making any live events for Muniz Online in the future?
We have an important experience on participating at live events, like Game Festivals. To be in touch with the general public and our own public has always been important, for it’s from them we get the inspiration to put Muniz together. We’re so willing to do it, as soon as possible!
Onrpg: What do you think is the reason why players keep coming back to Muniz Online?
It is the possibility to meet new friends and to hang out with them on the most diverse and fun setting that makes Muniz a constant option for those who want to have fun. The possibility to be what you want and express it through your looks and attitude is something we treasure and so do our members. In order to keep up to this authenticity/fun policy, we release new items (boosters, powers, hypermoods!) every week ! As we say, the show must always go on. And it must be good too 😉
Onrpg: What are your ways of trying to keep the interest of players?
Besides the weekly updates of all shops and the promotion of game events, everyday we must say players are the interest itself. How can you not be interested when it’s up to be whoever you want to be, whenever you want to, with the friends you love the most ? That’s what Muniz is all about.
Onrpg: How often do you update the avatar wardrobe? Where do you get the ideas of the items you include?
The more than 4 000 items store is increased every week with new ones! Our team of graphic designers is aware and in search of the current trends in music, movies, stars, games, etc. Obviously, they get those trends from community’s requests.
Onrpg: What do you think is Muniz Online’s edge to the other games of the same genre?
Only on Muniz you have a unique mood animation. Hit “lol” or “@@” on the chat and you’ll see! The wardrobe we propose to the players is sufficiently wide to cover thousands and thousands of possible combinations, all of them in tune with their wishes. If you like Manga for example, you’ll be overwhelmed by the looks you can put together with our own “Japanese closet”. Add to that a really nice place to chat, friends that you adore and it’s all set.
Onrpg: One of the things we noticed in Muniz Online is the lack of Quest guides. Will you be including it sometime in the future? Why or Why not?
Well observed! Muniz is actually replacing its quest system by the Bizness / XP system, where great deals make great players. Each trade you make leads you to a higher status on Archipelago, as you become the IT player in your domain. Your xp level increases! And for those who still have a crush on quests,, we put in place a forum, where players can ask their questions and receive orientations from game hosts and other players…
Onrpg: How big is the impact of the community in a game like Muniz Online?
The principle of Muniz is to enter in, make friends, create your own style and your own online crew or family. That makes the community the key point of the game. The history of Muniz is written every day, with the “newly weds”, the “brake-ups”, the “affaires of the century”, the “item of the moment”… and all that is done by the players!
Onrpg: Would you include more features to the houses in Muniz Online?
Sure we will. It will soon be easier to decorate your house, the tools will get simpler to use. And new boosters are to come, following the styles players love the most: modern design, clubber, party…
Onrpg: What’s in store for Muniz Online in the future?
Soon it’s gonna be possible to get your own horse and customize it, as you do with your avatar. Also new areas will be integrated to Archipelago, and they promise to be full of surprises, with new extreme settings. And just to keep you informed, the boosters to come next week are fantastic Manga style “Shojo” for girls and “Johnny Depp” (the one and only) for boys.

Galaxy Online: Second International Battleground War on the Horizon
After achieving great success with the first war held on the International Battleground server, the Galaxy Online team is eager to host another.
Beginning late this past April, the first war was an intense conflict that showcased the skills of the best players from both the Chinese and English Galaxy Online servers. In the end, the Chinese side won in large part due to their superior warship deployments and teamwork.
This time the team expects to see some of the English commanders who cut their teeth in the first war take the lessons they learned and put up an even better fight the second time around.
The second war will also run for a limited period of time, with the side that occupies the most galaxies when the war comes to a conclusion earning the victory.

Ambardia Review: MMORPG Minus an M
By Alex Beck (Endrien), Onrpg Writer
Ambardia is a free to play mmorpg made with a free engine for developing online games. Compared to others from this engine it is a godsend. There’s quite a few classes to choose from such as Mage, Pirate, orc, Ninja, Knight, Archer. Just to name a few. There are many things to do in Ambardia that are very fun and seem to bring me back old memories of that game everyone’s played; RuneScape. You can do everything from cutting wood to smelting and level up these skills in doing so.
Grab your wizards hat and wand!
As you progress through Ambardia you receive various “Magic” abilities that you can generally learn by using an acquired skill book and then learning the spell in your spell list. Like most games nowadays Ambardia is no different and uses your basic stat points with a few minor changes. These stats include magic, speed, strength and defense. Besides the basic features like combat, mining etc Ambardia brings some new things to the plate like chess. Yep that’s right you can actually have a game of chess while playing an MMO! Some other notes are that Ambardia has very friendly and active Game Masters that are always willing to help. Though I might mention that this game, while having a good community is also very lacking in the population department (but we will get more in detail with that later).
How do I look?
The graphics in Ambardia are well done in a mix of isometric and standard 2D graphics which look nice but are not for everyone. I do have some complaints for Ambardia that start with the graphics. While they do look very nice and well done, the animations such as attacking and running are quite choppy (regardless of race or class). There’s also not much direction as to where you are supposed to go after you leave the starting area (which has a fairly good tutorial I might add). Back to the graphics again, some minor thing’s that could very easily be animated, such as moving water, don’t have such detail.
When playing, especially when first starting I found that navigation was quite difficult and troublesome as it was hard getting around to the right places or even knowing the right places to go. And again to graphics there is no “paper doll” which simply put, means when you equip an item such as a sword it does not change the way your character looks, only the way your character attacks or the amount of damage that can be done. This can be very disappointing and bland especially when you get that special equipment that you worked so hard for only to notice a damage difference which is nice but no change of look. This also means that there’s not much to set you apart from everyone else of the same race or class although it does partly stop those “pro” players from boasting there equipment as much, haha.

Stop mining…I’m tired of walking
One of the cool things you can do in Ambardia is mining. Though when mining you do have to return to some sort of magical crystal to be able to mine more which I at first found it to be quite odd but after closer research and investigation it proved to be something totally different that offers a sneaky hidden form of hacking protection towards “botting” (for those that don’t know, botting is using an automated computer program that basically controls your character without the need for a player to actually do anything, for example going outside and setting the “bot” to mine or attack monsters for you).
So while this is a good feature it can certainly end up driving you crazy, but just pretend your going back to town to sharpen your pick axe after some hard work and it could just feel a bit more realistic!
MMORPG Minus an M
While Ambardia is an online role playing game, It technically doesn’t meet the “Massively” multi player aspect of an MMORPG. Fortunately it’s not lacking in content so it certainly could receive the name Massive for that! Speaking of the content, there was just recently released a new expansion that was in the works for quite some time now and the developers are quite pleased to present. This new expansion titled “The Magic Garden” contains 250 exciting and mysterious new maps for you to battle your way through as well as just journey with your friends.
This magic garden area is PVP free meaning you will not get ganked by some high level 🙂 (but they’ll get you someday, don’t worry). Instead of your typical overpowered and dependant cash shop, Ambardia has a fairly well done donation reward system (that I would classify as a cash shop) in which you will receive a reward of your choice limited to the amount of money you that you decide to donate. These donation rewards can range anywhere from a cool new change of look for your character or a customized dungeon handcrafted just for your guild!

So, Is it worth it?
To sum it up Ambardia is an overall decent Online role playing game with nice 2D graphics, though while not really my style could easily please the eyes of many other people. Its a nice way to meet some new friends and have lots of fun doing so. I would really recommend this game to anyone who has an older computer/laptop or even someone with a new computer who would like to take a break from all those newfangled 3D games and bring back memories of those late night 2D rpgs. Overall Ambardias pro’s outweigh the cons and it gets a solid 7/10.
Pros:
– Nice 2d graphics
– A lot to do
– Good skills system(mining,woodcutting etc)
– Active and helpful game masters
– Many races and classes to choose from
Cons:
– Poor animations in some ways(walking, water etc)
– Navigation is difficult
– Hard on new players
– No customization
Eudemons: Expansion “Demon Rising” coming this winter
Eudemons has announced the expansion that the game will receive this winter: Demon Rising:
As reality and fantasy are endlessly intertwined, so too light and darkness are eternally bonded. No-one under the almighty sun shall stand alone.
——– Elysium Proverb
It’s been a year since the collapse of the Demon Empire. Parties were still held across Cronus to celebrate the victory of humanity. Everywhere, people drank and danced deep into the night. No one noticed the cloud of darkness meandering out of the farthest corner of the continent and moving towards the capital. Its movement was slow but sure, and its darkness intensified with each second passed and each inch gained.
Then came the night, the giant crystal crucifix of Saint Laurent Church de Cronus was discovered hanging upside-down with the bodies of the twelve priests guarding the holy crucifix nailed to the four walls of the antechamber with massive bone spurs. Blood drenched what was a holy sanctuary…
They are back! The Demons are back! Terrified, the populace of Cronus tried desperately to find somewhere to hide, but no where was outside demonic reach.
What are they coming back for? How did they make it? Shouldn’t they have been exterminated by Agress the Great and his invincible army? No-one has the answer.
Death, like the grip of the devil, grasped people’s throat and crept along Cronus in the silence of fear.
Unprecedented disasters began raging all over the continent. Locusts, floods, hurricanes, and plagues ran rampant over the land and brought Cronus to its knees.
Again, darkness fell upon this land of promise.
The Demon is Rising! Beware!
Check out the trailer for Demon Rising right here on OnRPG.
