Large extension for Bounty Bay Online on the horizon
With a significant expansion of the world of Bounty Bay Online, Berlin-based publisher Frogster is about to stir the quiet waters of the Pacific Ocean! Scheduled for release in Q4 2009 “Beyond the Horizon” will add six new cities on the shores of North and South America and much more new content and new features to the historic sailor MMO world. For the first time ever, players will have the opportunity to circumvent the world by taking the route around Cape Hoorn and across the Pacific. Available in German and English first, French players will be able to explore the new content a few months later. Like all previous add-ons, “Beyond the Horizon” will be available for free. The website http://www.bth.bountybayonline.com is online now and will provide information about the upcoming add-on regularly.
On their journey across the seas, players will travel to the legendary lands of the Maya in “Beyond the Horizon“, where, amidst imposing pyramids, players will find a new challenging, instanced, quest line. More instances like the Labyrinth on Crete or the Caves of Gibraltar await players following the compelling new quest lines.

Moreover, players will be able to choose from five new character classes called professions in “Beyond the Horizon“. Where players only could advance their skills and careers so far, they can now choose to become a Treasure Hunter, Armed Businessman, Royal Military Officer, Imperial Guardian or Caribbean Pirate. Every profession has their own skill-tree of specialties that can be raised by allocating skill-points.
Another important new feature of the historical world of sea-faring adventurers will be several merchants alliances like the Iberian or the Arabian merchant alliance: Individual players or complete guilds will be able to join them. Together they are then able to access special quest lines that yield exceptional rewards. Additional high-lights of “Beyond the Horizon” are a new wedding system, new wardrobe/clothes sets, several new mini-games, over 40 new main quests and several new pets. Furthermore the new ranking systems of “Beyond the Horizon” will appeal to those players who always wanted to know who are the strongest guilds, the best land-lubbing fighters, the best fishermen or the wealthiest players overall!

F1 Manager Review: CanÂt I run an F1 Empire?
By Vincent Haoson (Vincenthaoson), OnRPG Journalist
F1 Manager is a browser-based MMO that puts you in the seat of being the manager of your very own Formula 1 team. You start from scratch as you create your Formula one dream team and battle through the ranks until your races and your team reaches the highly coveted rank one in the standings.
Game Features
The game gives you full reign of everything that affects your team. You start off naming your manager, your team and practically giving yourself the overall power to imprint yourself in your F1 team.
You are also given the choice of what type of F1 cars your drivers have. The helmet design is also by your own accord and even the names of your team’s two drivers are your pick. You then dictate the training your drivers will have to undertake and the amount of R&R time they will be having after each training session. You have to carefully discover the proper harmony between training and relaxation for your drivers so that you can maximize the growth potential of what you have.
Aside from the drivers you also have three other teams to look after which are the Pit Crew, the Engineering team and the Mechanic team. As your team’s manager you get to dictate what each team should be working on, what kind how intensive is their training, how long will they take it and of course the kind of R&R they would be taking and also of the duration.
Another job of a team manager is to handle the team’s overall budget and finance, and this is not overlooked in F1 Manager. Through the desk page, you get to look at every data you have on the team. You can see the contracts of your teams, the warehouse where you can get your car’s spare parts tire partners, the world ranking list and you can even track your bank records through it.
Racing Properly
When the opportunity arises you are then invited to take part in races that will be your team’s staging ground to the Grand Prix. With the game concentrating on the managerial side of a Formula one team all you do is watch in the sidelines as your drivers duke it out with their competitors in the race track.
In each race, you get to track how each driver is doing, the shape of their car is in and other data that you can use as your basis in future plans for your team. You won’t get to see your drivers actually race; you will only see race-data that is shown in your screen.
As with real F1 races, your drivers would not immediately take part in the race properly but would have to go through qualifiers to determine where they would start, each race then costs you fuel and equipment that is why you have to carefully manage your resources on and off the race.
Conclusion
F1 Manager is for those avid fans of the heart-stopping, adrenaline-rushing sport that is Formula One racing. Though you may not be positioned in the driver’s seat where most of the action takes place, you are given the alternative to at least be the person who, besides the driver makes thing roll in a racing team.
F1 Manager does provide you everything that you need to know regarding your team. The statistics of your drivers, the car and helmet design. Even the name of your drivers would come from you. The game has given you the opportunity to experience the biggest dream of a F1 fan, become a boss of a team.
However, the problem with F1 Manager is that with the lack of a guide that is translated to English, you have to second-guess whatever it is that needs to be done and that you have to rely on your own know-how on how things work for an F1 team.
Thankfully, the English server of the game has everything in the interface in English. If you can’t read German then getting to understand the whole game needs more effort for you because you have to either research about the things you see or go through the game forums, which has people that can help you.
As long as you get past the language barrier issue of the game everything would run smoothly for you then. The game balance is not really a problem because everyone starts off with the same set of stats for their cars and drivers, the same amount of starting money and the same set of crew. It all boils down on how well you manage your team which is basically what a manager does.
This browser-based game is not a game that a casual gamer would enjoy. True, that it may spark interest for those who are trying out the game, however in the long run, if F1 is not in your system you would then eventually forget about this game.
The opposite can be said for true F1 fans though. The level of detail this game has can feed the cravings of any die-hard F1 racing fan.
F1 Manager has successfully detailed the things a real F1 manager would have to go through in their everyday life and it is what F1 manager is all about. If you are into strategic planning and would want to know how it feels to handle an F1 team, F1 Manager is a game for you.
Pros:
– You get to experience how it feels to be a manager of an F1 Team
– You have full reign of your team, every detail is provided for you to decide on
– You get to decide on the team and the driver’s name.
Cons:
– Not everything is translated to English
– The game is for those who are into F1 and not for casual gamers
– You don’t get to see how your racer fares in the actual race.
GodsWar Online: Factions to Engage in a Battle of Faith
Grab your weapons and armor and get ready for an event pitting the two rival GodsWar Online factions against one another in a test of will. Today the Team go ahead to discuss A Battle of Faith.
The event is point-based, and the faction with the higher score wins. To score, players must penetrate the base of the opposing faction and reach a designated point within a specified time, but this test will require more than speed. Whichever side best executes their tactics to cycle their forces between both defense and offense will have the best chance to score. It will not be a battle for the timid. Every strong arm and steady hand will make a difference, whether in pressing the attack or holding the line.
Rules:
- 1. One minute before the scheduled event, game officials will teleport all players from Megara, Argolis, Plataea, Derveni, and Isthmus to their faction bases.
- 2. To receive points, participants must start the event from either Paniza or Nemea and reach the designated location in the opposing faction’s base.
- 3. Participants must score at least one point for their faction to receive a prize. Prizes will be determined by the performance of the faction as a whole, not by the efforts of each individual.
Prizes:
- 1. Qualified players from the victorious faction will receive 4 Delicate Iron Box, 4 Classic Iron Box, 8 Iron Box Keys, and 4 Talent Stone 3.
- 2. Qualified players from the defeated faction will receive 2 Delicate Iron Box, 2 Classic Iron Box, 4 Iron Box Keys, and 2 Talent Stone 3.
If you have never had the chance to take part in an all-server event, then you will not want to miss A Battle of Faith. Win or lose, there will be rewards for all who claim points for the greater glory of their faction. When the dust finally settles, will you stand proudly in victory, or hang your head in defeat? The choice is up to you.
World of Warcraft: Wild LOLfest Theoriest Part 1
By Kei Beneza (Dividelife), OnRPG Journalist
Wild LOLfest theories 1: The Lich King consumes all… Including the game. (Expect a lot of LOLs)
If you’re a fan of the Warcraft lore, then you’re probably aware who the game’s main antagonist is. World of Warcraft (WoW), as you may know is currently the most played MMO today. With an awesome gameplay and intense online experience, World of Warcraft has taken the world by storm. The game revolves around the living and breathing world of Azeroth and carries on from the epilogue of the world renowned Warcraft 3 series. Just as the story suggests, the world will only be at peace once the Lich King (Prince Arthas Menethil) is defeated. It’s been years since the story began, and like any other story– everything will have to come down to a final battle between good and evil (LOL).
The Final Battle?
Sometimes I tend to ask myself: “What will happen once Arthas comes out?”. It would definitely be the ultimate challenge for any player in the game. I was thinking about an actual fourty-man raid, where an array of geared players try their best to put the Lich King down. But what exactly will occur once the first raid group kills and loots the main antagonist of the game? How would everyone feel after the powerful being in the game has been defeated?
Storywise, defeating the Lich King was everyone’s primary goal and this grand act would mean releasing Azeroth from the clutches of evil. After that, this epic raid may just end up as a casual “LFG Healers and Tank Ice Crown 40 man” raid. If you look at it through the storyline’s perspective, defeating Arthas Menethil will put the entire Warcraft storyline in complete stasis. What made World of Warcraft special was its awesome way of storytelling. The story updates itself like a normal breathing world. Once the antagonist disappears, everything will be stuck in a specific moment in time (much like most MMORPGs) which would either be “Wait for Arthas to respawn LOL” or “Alliance vs Horde” all over again.
Time draws near as more villains enter the scene; and soon, the time will come when the final boss must make his stand and finally reveal himself to the heroes.
Poor forgotten ones
I remember the time when Illidan was still the main attraction of the game. Everyone would be organizing raid groups just to be able to take a whiff of his epic goodness (and yes they were the epitome of EPIC back then). As one of the main villains of the World of War craft series, I could say that I was fully disgusted by how he was treated after the release of the WoTLK (Wrath of the Lich King) expansion. After Northrend’s main debut, everyone no longer cared for him (farmed him rather), instead drawing their attention on regular dungeon items that are (and I quote) “Stronger” than the ones acquired in Black Temple. We’ve seen a lot of bosses go down this way; not through the storyline but through their lack of importance in upcoming patches and expansions.
I remember a time when I tried to organize a Black Temple raid group for old time’s sake. Everytime we would invite someone to join, they would hit us with devastating replies like “Who is Illidan?” or “What the hell is Black Temple?”. Illidan has now become a shadow of his former self; and soon, Arthas may find himself in the same position. Think there will come a time when people in the game would ask you “Who the hell is Arthas?”? Geez, I hope not…
“Ugh… no! Don’t take my sword! It’ll make you more special than me!”
-Arthas
For Ragnaros, it was the Sulfuras Hammer. For Illidan, his Warglaives of Azzinoth— anyone see a pattern here? Don’t get me wrong, being able to wield the epic Frostmourne would probably be the most awesome moment of my WoW life; however, it wouldn’t feel right to see the most respected sword in WoW history being swung by random swashbucklers. Although most players would wet their pants by the mere sight of it, the Frostmourne is STILL the Frostmourne and must not be wielded by anyone else other than the Lich King himself (in respect to the lore as well).
How will it end anyway?
What will become of the lore once the story reaches this point? Then again, what will become of the GAME once the ice has been lifted? Are we looking at a potential Warcraft 4? The world of Azeroth is sure to undergo a tremendous makeover once this is done and settled with. Who will be the next main antagonist? What will the new world be like?
Since there are no other Warcraft game that can continue the story other than World of Warcraft, I wonder… As silly as it may seem, the purpose of WoW is to show the people what it is like to live in the world of Azeroth (as an actual Azerothian or whatever they call themselves). Does that mean that the first raid against Arthas will be jotted down as a part of the story? It would definitely be awesome if they were to accredit a player for being able to defeat the most powerful entity in the game. Since World of Warcraft ACTS as a sequel to Warcraft 3 and focuses on letting players act as living characters in the game, then it would be wise to officially grant them the honor of ending the story they’ve yearned to follow (in my opinion at least).
The Real Heroes of Azeroth
Neither Thrall nor Varian completed quests (or grinded tee-hee) to get to level 80, nor did they go through countless dungeons just so they could roll for epic items. If you look at it that way, we’re a lot more fitting to kill Arthas than those NPCs (LOL).
We’ve worked our way through countless obstacles and faced challenges like no other; and now that the wrath of the Lich King is upon us, the only way for us to survive is to keep moving forward. After all… Once the Lich King dies, the story we’ve sought to finish will just probably continue to move on as a linear game of questing and raiding. Well… at least we were there when the real Lich King appeared (or at least before he was ganged on and looted)
Oh… and by the way… LOL
What do you think will happen after we defeat Arthas? Discuss on the forum!
