The Pet Evolution System
Pets are now able to evolve past their current level limitations and become more powerful than ever before. Players can merge three max level pets into one deadly evolved pet which will allow them to personalize their appearance and gain the stats directly targeted towards their character’s chosen skill tree.
Dogi Archer Pet
To accompany the new Pet Evolution system, the new Dogi pet has been added with Archer-focused stats. Players can use the new Pet Evolution system to select the specific skill tree for their pet, such as Bow, Crossbow or Ballista for the adorable new Dogi pet. Their appearance and stats will alter to match and provide their character with the bonuses they need.
18 New Monster Killing Titles
Eighteen new titles have also been added to the game to mark player accomplishments in killing certain numbers of the various monster types and bosses across all regular Field Maps, Elite Fields and dungeons. Players can get ahead in the Title Competition by hunting down and collecting tokens from the targeted monsters around the world of Asda Story, then turn extra tokens collected into useful Ultimate and Mystic Crystals for crafting.

Wolfteam International Review: Sink Your Teeth Into This

By Vincent Haoson (Vincenthaoson), Onrpg writer

What do you get when you mix soldiers, guns and werewolves battling in an all-out deathmatch arena? A movie idea? Maybe, but in the MMO world, what we have is Softnyx’s own FPS MMO, Wolfteam.

Softnyx, the company that has brought other casual shooter games like Gunbound and Rakion into the MMO scene has you shooting against fellow super soldier ‘werewolves’ in a bloodbath of mayhem and destruction.

This is not the movies boys

The story of Wolfteam revolves around an elite French military group that uses werewolf soldiers as enlisted officers. The thing is, yes they may be the best when it comes to battles and missions but the French army has lost control of these soldiers. Your part in the whole scheme of things is that you are one of those so-called uncontrollable werewolves.

There is no character creation in Wolfteam compared to other FPS games. The only thing that separates you from the rest of the world is your skills in both armaments and in melee combat as a wolf.

Combat!

There are 7 modes you can choose from in Wolfteam, each mode has a corresponding set goal and objective on winning, though it may be done solo or in a team. The modes are as follows, you have the conquest, deathmatch, destruction, wolf conquest, ex conquest, destruction and Ice Hold modes.

The thing with Wolfteam is that unlike, most FPS MMOs where you have the typical combat modes you can choose from, you get to have modes that cater specifically to the unique feature Wolfteam has, becoming a wolf. The wolf form is the strongest and most dangerous form you have in the game. However, changing shape in Wolfteam is regulated by the mode you are playing in. There are modes where you can freely change from human to wolf while some modes need you to have enough Wolf points before you start as a wolf.

Wolf Points

Another thing about the combat system in Wolfteam is that you cannot use all the weapons at your disposal right off the bat. You need to get yourself the required amount of Wolf points to be able to use them. Wolf points are earned as you do certain tasks in the game like taking over a base, killing an enemy, inflicting a sneak attack and the like. However, you can also lose those very important wolf points as well, if you accidentally hit your teammate regardless in which form you also get to lose those badly needed points in the process.

Conclusion

Wolfteam is your typical First-person shooter that basically has everything going for it. It’s got the core gameplay down that the only main problem the game has is the lag issues of its subscribers which practically affects how the game goes.

As most often seen on FPS games, whenever there are lag spike or net spike issues in a game, the players’ avatars seem to be teleporting from one place to another. Although this may be acceptable for normal MMOs, in an FPS sometimes it takes a split second to determine who wins. More so in Wolfteam where the wild card is the werewolf mode where they can practically kill a player with only one swipe. Who would want to go against someone who’s practically stronger than you that seems to be teleporting as well, right?

Setting the internet issue aside, Wolfteam does have its quirks that make it such a fun game to play. The werewolf mode wildcard is practically the thing that sets this game apart from the rest of the FPS games out on the market.

You can’t find another game in the MMO scene that has wonderfully sown the idea of werewolf soldiers fighting in a deathmatch against each other. Also, the werewolf mode has in fact a few features that can be the selling point of the game, for example, you can run along walls in werewolf form. That’s right, you have the opportunity to feel how those Lycans in the movie Underworld feel when they were running along walls. No other game can give you that satisfaction except Wolfteam.

Wolfteam International Key Setup

One of the things that I think the game lacks is the lack of character customization. It may be true that a game that has the uses the gameplay of shoot-now-Google-at-it-later, I must insist that the game really should have put something that sets your avatar apart from the rest. Other FPS can make you choose what your character looks like in a very limited appearance library at least, so why not Wolfteam?

Furthermore, there are certain aspects of the game that really remind me of another FPS MMO out in the market. The familiarity of it all can really strike you if you have been around the block, so this may look like a repackaged version of the game, plus wolves.

Still, the game has a lot to offer, the weapons library seems to be chock full of weapons that are based on actual weapons that are out on the market. Though the designs may be different, it is still a sight to see that you can actually make out an AK-47 from the game’s own AKEI.

Wolfteam Guns

Overall, Wolfteam seems more like a generic version of any FPS MMO out right now, and the lack of customization adds to the generic feel of the whole game. The werewolf change may be cute at first, it’s just a overpowered muscled melee monster. If you want your skills to be tested in a world where werewolves insist, you can try it out, but If you are into something more ‘genuine’ and ‘real’, I suggest go look for it elsewhere.

Pros:
– The wolf form gives a new look into the FPS genre
– Battles are easy to set up and start
– Gameplay is easy to grasp

Cons:
– Lag issues affect battles
– Game balance constantly tilts as a match continues
– No character customization or creation.

Phantasy Star Universe: A Genuine JRPG

By Kei Beneza (Dividelife), Onrpg writer

Phantasy Star Universe is a Japanese Role Playing Game (JRPG) that made its debut on the Sega Dreamcast back in 2001. The game is originally played in single player mode but can also support multiplayer (MMO) mode through a monthly fee. Multiplayer mode is a lot different from the single player mode since you can pretty much create your own character and dwell in a particular part of the storyline. The game is quite futuristic, which is good because every other MMO is built on the medieval age. A few futuristic MMOs would definitely come in handy once in a while. Soon after the unforeseen demise of the Dreamcast console, Phantasy Star Universe made its way to various consoles and on to the PC. Blessing perhaps? let’s see.

Deciding Characters

To my surprise, Phantasy Star Universe only had three playable classes namely: The Hunter, Ranger and Force. I was a bit disappointed since JRPGs would be the source of different types of characters. The game also has 4 races that was said to compliment your class further. Some races work better as specific classes, but you won’t have to worry about that since you can change classes anytime in the game. Aside from the broad world and stunning features, Classes often bait gamers into playing a certain game. Some say that different weapons make characters do different things, or that trying out other races would change a certain class’s gameplay. Yes, maybe so… but these things often hit people with a fixed stereotypical build. I mean why become a pushover human class if another race enhances this class more?

Japanese RPG feeling (JRPG)

One look at the character layout and you’ll know it’s a JRPG. The character designs are a bit sci-fi but there’s something about it that makes you go ANIME. Some of the armors are tight and bulky at the same time, kind of like Bubblegum Crisis. I guess it’s the aura of the game that makes it all J and stuff especially since male Japanese characters often perform moves with such elegance (Men will always be men in Western RPGs). The characters look like they’re dressed for combat and not ARMORED for it. I guess the soldiers of the future have to look their best even it if means over-accessorizing.

The character detail looks okay, but it still looks pretty PS2-ish to me. The 360 and pc release looks entirely the same, but with better shadows and well rounded models. The graphics still can’t be considered as next gen graphics. I’m just saying cause it got launched on a next gen console.

Phantasy Star Screenshot

As expected from a JRPG, the game has an invigorating soundtrack that lets you enjoy killing monsters. If I were to sum it up, the music gets you into a dance of death that causes you to slaughter everything in your path. Call it a form of mind control. The game does have a certain charm that makes it work despite the obvious lack of features.

Gameplay – Let’s get it on!

The game runs on a hack n’ slash system where players have to butcher their way to their destination. It’s not that bad since grinding games often let players enjoy their skills rather than worry about where they would use them. The beauty of hack n’ slash is that you can spam your skills knowing that you’ll be well rewarded for it. It is a bit sickening at times, but it’s all a matter of perception.

Plus! Visual Alert!

The character creation interface is really nice. There’s a lot of options to fill in so you won’t have to gripe about why your character has a lot of clones. The face is somewhat fully customizable and your character gets to wear your desired outfit. It just shows to prove that the game supports character individuality. The visuals are eye catching and are somehow similar to futuristic anime series like Bubblegum Crisis and Ghost in the shell. Seriously, Japanese really have a solid vision on what the future holds. If I must analyze the graphics, I would have to say that it’s slightly better than the most up to date games. Just making myself clear, The graphics are really good but not next gen good.

Control scheme

I was pretty pissed after getting to play this game with my keyboard. It was the same blasted feeling I got when I installed Devil May Cry 4 on my PC. Here’s a News Flash: You’ll NEED a gamepad to play this game, let alone enjoy it. The game was originally made for consoles but they could’ve easily tweaked the controls to fit the PC gamers’ playstyle. It is a bit depressing seeing as this game is the first MMO that actually requires you to own a gamepad.

Action!

The game is basically another dungeon crawler. A bit of a grinder really, but like I said: It all depends on the player. Bosses are superb both in single player mode and in multiplayer mode. You should really consider playing the single player mode before immersing yourself in its multiplayer goodness. The single player mode has a decent story line that will probably cater 15-20 hours of gameplay. I’ve yet to regret playing the whole thing since the single player mode can already give you your money’s worth. Epic sounds, Epic storyline.

The verdict

The game is good for a console MMO, but the features doesn’t fully compliment itself for competing with other Pay to Pay games. Nine dollars isn’t so pricey, but other free to play MMOs can beat this game through features alone. I wouldn’t say that this game is not worth playing but you could go around before considering the multiplayer option. Single player mode is awesome but the MMO feature needs a bit of work. The soundtrack is pretty epic. It sort of acts like a mind control device that takes you deeper into the game. The characters look pretty amazing but despite the character customization system, you’ll still end up seeing people who’s dressed the same way. It is a good game, but I would probably sell it after finishing the single player mode.

Pros:
Single Player mode. At least we get a storyline
– Character customization features
– Soundtrack is really nice

Cons:
– Controller is needed. Not required… but needed
– Grinding is not that bad… but the system is nothing new
– It is as it is… everything is quite linear.
