The update includes an entire new continent for the Dragonica world map and a wide range of new features based around in-game markets and auctions. On top of the new gameplay content is a planned raise of Dragonica’s level cap. gPotato.eu is proud to announce Awakening of the Ice Dragon for Dragonica.

The new land of Pagosia will bring a host of new maps and landscapes to Dragonica players. The dark shadow of the Ice Dragon has left its mark on the cold and gloomy continent of Pagosia, and it is up to each hero to overcome the new challenges, which include four new mission maps – one of which featuring a show-down with the Ice Dragon himself.

Awakening of the Ice Dragon will also include three exciting new dungeons for different character levels and the launch of the highly anticipated strategic defence mode. Here, players are challenged to fight alone or in groups against waves of invading enemies. This mode will be available in the majority of Dragonica’s huge amount of arcade-style mission maps, with the number and level of the monsters depending on the amount and character level of the players present in each instance.

Awakening of the Ice Dragon will also bring extended usability features to Dragonica such as a guild and party search board, as well as a market stall feature where players can set up a market to sell their items on any map in the game.

New AI Mode Coming to Popular Free-to-Play Shooter Dec. 23rd

Mission Against Terror the free-to-play shooter from Wicked Interactive, knows how to keep it interesting. On the heels of last month’s massive Terminator Mode update, M.A.T. brings  AI Mode–the newest and most challenging level of the supernaturally-charged title coming to a computer near you, December 23rd, just in time for Christmas.

“Gamers love this game because we never let them get bored,” said Sam Ho, Director, Wicked Interactive, publishers of Mission Against Terror. “Gamers know that when they download and register this game, they are entering into a relationship with us, the game creators, in which we work tirelessly to make sure that new gameplay elements are added all the time, along with tweaks and other suggestions that come directly from the mighty M.A.T. community.”

Build Weapons from Destroyed Robots: Oh Yeah!

With the arrival of AI Mode, players will find the first two stages (of three) available right from the get-go.  AI Mode pits 8 players against a slew of AI-controlled robots in a war for survival. With 4 difficulty settings to choose from and 4 scenarios to play out, even the most seasoned of veterans will find a worthy challenge.

AI Mode features a reward system for completing the various stages in certain difficulties as well as a robot-based weapon-creation system. That’s right: Gamers can use the parts from destroyed robots with a Weapon Casting Machine to create all sorts of neat, new weapons. In higher difficulties, players will have a greater chance of finding robot parts from slain robots and even parts from the fearsome Robot Captain himself.

Set in a near-future not so different from our own time, M.A.T. pits teams against one another in a bitter battle for the survival of the human race. Unanimously hailed for its solid gameplay and wide variety of game modes, M.A.T. has taken North America by storm, after becoming quite popular in Asia and other parts of the world.

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening Review: Bring Them Back!

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening Review: Bring Them Back!
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), OnRPG Journalist

Dragon Age Origins: Awakening, is Dragon Age: Origins’ first and only expansion pack. Assuming that you haven’t had enough of Dragon Age even after completing all the sidequests and taking all the possible routes, Dragon Age: Origins Awakening (DAOA) is an instant buy for those who want more Darkspawn-slaying action. The game requires you to have the original Dragon Age, so new players cannot skip to this point (then again, they wouldn’t understand anything if they did) and will need to purchase the original game to be able to play. So does the expansion carry the same epic feel as the original? Let’s see, shall we?

FOR THE GREY WARDENS PART TWO!

Unlike the first two Mass Effect games, your accomplishments and choices in the first game will not have any relevance in this expansion. In a way, it does tie up, but not in a big way.  Since it is an RPG expansion pack, I was really looking forward to doing more adventuring with my existing Grey Warden, but it seems that BioWare had something else in mind. Yes, players can port their existing character from the first game, but while in the process of doing so, I thought that maybe it would be wise to just end my Warden’s adventures then and there and let the new characters handle it.

BRING THEM BACK!

The game also presents an array of new characters which will be filling in for your old comrades. I was actually rather disappointed in a way, since the ONLY returning character was the one I seldom used during the first game (Oghren). I, as an individual, was also rather iffy about the sudden change of roster since my memory of the original cast was still rather fresh, and I felt that there was still much to discover about them. Your new comrades will also gain your trust as they fill your speakers with funny banter along the way, but honestly, they just don’t stand out as well as former characters like Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana.

Dragon Age Origins Bring Them Back

New Stuff Is Always Welcome

The best part about The Awakening are the new skills and options that expand the capabilities of the original. The original game didn’t really need a huge makeover, and it’s great that BioWare didn’t take the expansion that far. Now players are able to create and combine runes to further upgrade their existing weapon, as well as gain HP and stamina bonuses, making them more effective in battle. The changes are indeed good and actually enough for me to purchase this expansion.

DAO New Stuff

The game has a lot of new enemies to slay, which keeps the in game combat fresh and far from being repetitive. I would say that you are about to have your Warden skills be put to the test once more, as you encounter bog monsters, dragons, and more variations of the darkspawn than ever before. There are also tons of new areas to explore and new items to discover, making it fun to explore and revisit certain areas.

I Wish They Gave Us More

The story is quite intriguing in a way, but definitely far from the original game’s engaging plot. While some parts may get you to play for countless hours, other quests feel like half-baked fillers designed only to increase the game’s duration. The original game’s sidequests were marvelous, and each quest really felt like it had a story of its own. It is too bad that Awakening could not execute it just as well. It IS just an expansion after all, so don’t expect it to be as special as the actual game.

Much like Dragon Age: Origins, you will be presented with a set of life changing decisions, which will shape your destiny depending on how good or bad you are at playing and making decisions. It’s always fun to play around and experiment with conversation trees to see how far your comrades are willing to go, or how easy it is to intimidate and aggravate other characters, so I’m glad BioWare gave us more of those.

Replay Value?

I would say that the game still retains the original’s replay value, since the Awakening still shares the same diverse destiny tree provided by its predecessor. Although the scope is not as broad compared to Origins, I think the expansion has enough diversity to keep you playing more than once.

Dragon Age Origins Replay Value

The Verdict

If you’re a fan of Dragon Age, then Dragon Age: Origins – The Awakening is definitely a must buy. The fact that this is a Dragon Age Expansion is reason enough to pick up that sword and smash those Darkspawn once more. The story, I would say, will keep you keep you playing for countless hours while trying to uphold the might of the Grey Wardens, and though it’s not as good or engaging as the original, it’s still an expansion worth purchasing. I for one think that the whole roster change was a bit too extreme, especially since our adventures with the old cast was still fresh and could still be broadened. New characters are not a bad idea, but changing the whole cast within the span months is a bit too soon. With a kick-ass combat system and a system not far from the original, Dragon Age: Origins- The Awakening is a must have for all Dragon Age enthusiasts.

The Good

-New characters (?)
-New skills
-New maps to explore
-Good story (though not as good as the first one)
-Definitely a bang for the buck

The Bad

-New characters ALREADY?!
-fails to deliver the same epic feeling in terms of story
-The characters lack impact and are easily forgotten

City of Heroes MetaÂ’s Verse: WAR

City of Heroes Meta’s Verse: WAR

Paragon City is once again at war with beings from another dimension. First it was the Rikti and now this time the invaders look more like us. A lot more like us. Praetoria is a world run by Emperor Marcus Cole. Anyone familiar with popular science fiction will recognize Praetoria immediately. The world is our opposite.

At some point in time our world became different from their world. All the same people are there, they’re just a little different; The Primal Earth are dark and sinister in Praetoria, Emperor Cole (whose Primal Earth counterpart we know as Statesman) wants to rule our Earth and he’s sent in his forces to take it. Heroes can take on these invading forces in two task forces organized by Tin Mage Mark II, the second model of a magically inclined robot who died during the Rikti War and also by Apex, a hero who once fought alongside War Witch and even at one point shared an apartment with her.

Tin Mage Task Force

The first mission has you board a helicopter from the Rikti Warzone to Nerva Archipelago in the City of Villains. It’s there you come up against Emperor Cole’s clockwork army. While anyone who has played in Praetoria is familiar with the smaller day to day clockwork who keep the city clean and running… these are much bigger. Clearly meant for only one thing, destruction. Unfortunately Malta, a group seasoned players know well can also be found here.

Once you defeat eight of Cole’s very large War walkers you’re sent inside to defeat Director 11, a man who seems to love nothing more than to run away and drag you through mines that are laid out for you to trip. Once you complete this task and return to Tin Mage he sends you through several locations in Paragon City where the invasion is in full force.

The final location is at Portal Corp where heroes go to travel from the dimension we are so familiar with to other, more foreign dimensions. It is there you are told you have to go through the portal to Praetoria. Once there you take on two Praetorians which the Primal Earth equivalent are major heroes in Paragon City. It is here where this part of the story ends.

City of Heroes Tin Mage

Apex Task Force

Where Tin Mage deals with the threat to the Rogue Isles and moving the battle to Praetoria, Apex deals with the threat to Paragon City. You start once again like the last, defeating groups of invading clockwork. Then sent into the sewers where you take on by far the ugliest things I have ever seen. A mix of Hydra tentacles and Rikti pylons synthesized together to create an extremely deadly foe. If you’re skills are up to the test you’ll make it through the sewers and end up in front of the large Paragon Police Department building in Kings row. It is there you face wave after wave of Cole’s War walkers. Just when you think the threat is gone you receive word that Steel Canyon is under attack. Upon arriving in Steel Canyon you are attacked by floating swords which you have to fight off. The final battle which coincidently is against Battle Maiden is by far the hardest fight I have ever been involved in during my entire hero career.

City of Heroes Cloud

These task forces were released with Issue 19 and while you aren’t strictly required to have completed the incarnate introduction arc and have something slotted in the Alpha Slot it is highly suggested. All of the mobs are set to level fifty-four, four levels above the level cap. And without the Alpha Slot you experience a temporary level decrease in terms of what you’re capable of doing. You don’t have to do them in any particular order as these are not two stories that need to be completed consecutively.

In terms of timeline, you get the feeling that both are meant to be happening simultaneously. Of course you can’t be in two places at once so it’s impossible to run both at the same time. After reading the introductory text of both I decided that Tin Mage seemed like a better place to start and so far it is my favourite of the two.

A first for the City of world is the way the Master of badges are handled. Previously Master badges were given out if you managed to complete the task force having no deaths and having started out wanting to do a Master of run. With these task forces its all about earning badges. Defeating enemies in certain ways, avoiding mines that are laid down which are easier to activate than actually avoid. After completing both of these task forces I was left in awe. Yes, they’re both the shortest task forces so far but they are both nonstop epic awesome. At the end the rewards aren’t exactly the greatest but they make up for that in story and in action.

City of Heroes Fight the Power Apex

The complaints I’ve heard about the two of them have been very few and mostly from people who are looking to get the most bang for their buck. The people who only want to do high reward task forces. Don’t let them stop you from giving them a try. Yes, they’re hard. Yes, you have to use tactics. Yes, you’ll have fun.

Lore: Shyla

Lore: Shyla

Eternal bliss

Shyla Starhearth: grand lady of the High Elves, foremost priestess of the Vigil, the voice of wisdom and compassion when the Guardians hold council. Shyla: bold and brilliant, bolstering the faithful with kind words and inspiring sermons. Without her, the Guardians would be swept up in zeal and lose track of their conscience. She keeps her people on the path of the gods, yet behind her flawless beauty is a soul as sad as the first icicle on a bare branch.

Rift Shyla Lore

When Shyla was a young maid (as Elves reckon youth) she served as a priestess of Tavril. The wild goddess had sworn the High Elves to serve as guardians of the untamed places, and Shyla devoted herself entirely to keeping her people on the path of faith and stewardship. Like a pristine forest glen, she lived a life of serene isolation. Until she met Hylas, and everything else nearly burned away.

Prince Hylas was the pinnacle of Elven grace, swift of foot and mind and blade, full of blazing passion rare in the cool forest-folk. He and Shyla loved for centuries, harmonious as sun and sky. The songs celebrating their love could fill the grand library in the Chancel of Labors. Soon, the songs lamenting their parting will be even more numerous.

A difference of opinion

When the Mathosian Civil War began, the lovers found themselves divided for the first time, if only by politics. Shyla argued that the Elves had to side with Zareph for the good of all Telara, while Hylas would not endanger their charge over the wilds to meddle in the affairs of men. Unable to convince him, Shyla led her followers to join the Mathosian rebels, leaving her dear prince behind.

Rift Shyla Lore

None could stand before the hideous magic Aedraxis released at the climax of the war, not even a cleric of Shyla’s experience and skill. Shyla, Priestess of Tavril, died that day, and Shyla, Pentarch of the Vigil, arose as one of the first Guardians. Along with Cyril Kalmar and Borrin of the Dwarves, she helped keep Regulos from total victory, and returned to her homelands leading those High Elves who had also ascended.

Rushing into Hylas’s arms, Shyla found them… cold. While others might take their beloved’s wholesome return from the grave as a miracle, Hylas seemed alternately sickened by and jealous of Shyla’s Ascended status.

Eternity torn

Once more the two lovers clashed over the fate of their people. While Shyla fought for the Elves to officially join the Guardians, Hylas maintained that a Mathosian war had all but ruined Telara. He would not follow a Mathosian before, and he certainly never would now.

Where before their debate seemed like two lovers and friends in a lively discourse, this second engagement turned bitter, entirely on Hylas’s side. He questioned Shyla’s integrity, her fidelity (in more ways than one), even whether it was the gods who returned her to life. Still, Shyla loved him, forgave his grandstanding as rhetoric, and remained loyal, though he no longer visited, or even smiled upon her.

Then without warning, Prince Hylas took his entire royal clan, House Aelfwar, and holed up in their ancestral castle, allowing no visitors. Shortly thereafter, he informed Shyla by messenger that their “association” was no longer advantageous to the Elven people, and so he felt no need to maintain pretenses.

Pity not the Pentarch

To say that Shyla’s heart broke would be like calling a toppled tower “cracked.” Nonetheless, without further opposition, Shyla officially joined the remaining High Elves to the new-formed Guardians. For the Guardians, she has been a pillar of strength, a rallying point for Telara’s scattered Elves, never wavering against any enemy, even the forces of House Aelfwar. She fears she must stand against Hylas, and that the rampant spread of Life Rifts has something to do with him.

Rift MMORPg Shyla Lore

Mighty Cyril is glad for her council, though he sees the price her heart has paid for such purity and resolve. It is common knowledge that they take tea together, privately, once a week in Sanctum. Shyla speaks only of strategy, the war against the Planetouched. She appreciates the Mathosian’s clumsy attempts at companionship, his tendency to act fatherly toward a woman many times his age. Her mind is bent always toward supporting her people, so that the Elves are never again torn asunder as they were when the Kelari left, when Aelfwar turned away… as she was when Hylas broke her heart.

MapleStory’s Big Bang Part 2 is Coming Soon

MapleStory’s Big Bang Part 2 is Coming Soon

Two new classes, Wild Hunter and Battle Mage, and a new zone, Edelstein, to be added in upcoming update

MapleStory’s second installment of the Big Bang update on Dec. 20 will introduce the two new character classes, Wild Hunter and Battle Mage, as well as a new zone, Edelstein. All players will be able to enjoy this new content in addition to the entire game overhaul implemented with the first Big Bang update on Dec. 7.

Maple Story Big Bang

With the second Big Bang update installment, players will be able to explore Edelstein, a quiet mining village where the people have a knack for technology. Players will also be invited to join the Resistance and battle as one of the new classes – the Wild Hunter or Battle Mage. The Resistance Class is a new collection of heroes that have banded together to thwart the dark deeds of the Black Wings, a secret cult dedicated to the resurrection of the vile Black Mage.

The Wild Hunter is a ranged character with a jaguar mount, which enables her to move quickly across the battlefield and attack her foes while in motion. The Battle Mage is also a ranged character and makes an excellent party member thanks to his high HP, his beneficial auras and deadly attacks that can hit multiple enemies at once.
