Zero Online December Update
Zero Online December Update
The last month of 2010 is almost here, and the Zero Online team has prepared a series of exciting weekend events, Christmas events, and even some brand new game functions for all their players to enjoy during this month!
To get a leg up in the arms race, the Alliance Academy has carried out many different projects, such as the Fleet Warships, Space War, Fleet Missions, Fleet PKT, and so on. To make the arming and fighting skills of the troops more effective, another project, codenamed ‘Warship Missions’ will soon be launched! It’s quite similar to the Spacecraft Missions, and soldiers are required to sign up with the Wennie the Liaison Officer, on the Steel Warship. Different warship missions will award you with different prizes, and obviously to have access to a warship is an important requirement for joining the missions! At the same time, three new Warship Missions will be unveiled: Black Sun, Decapitation, and Vega Mine Zone!
At the beginning of December, we release a popular mission in the first weekend, named ‘Universal Sheepherder’. Let’s see what needs to be done in this mission!
There’s a mecha-sheep called Dolly, and she’s recently been created by Alliance engineers. You need to protect him as you transport her from the research facility, and get him safely to the destination. As a reward, we’ve prepared a bundle of Amethysts, Sapphires and Rose Quartz! Meanwhile, you can join the routine weekend patrol events, as well!
For the second weekend event, the Alliance Carnival is making its way back to the Steel Warship! An appointed liaison officer from the Alliance Academy will arrive on the Steel Warship, and she will be giving away abundant munitions for the brave pilots! We heard that her landing point should be near booth 90, so don’t miss this good chance to talk with her!
Meanwhile, you can join routine weekend patrol events, as well!
The most stirring moment is, without a doubt, the combination of both New Year’s and Christmas being together! Here, we are going to have 5 amazing online events, available from December 22nd to January 1st!
Double Exp events are never too little for the brave pilots, who are out fighting the biggest evils in the cosmos!
To celebrate Christmas and New Year’s, the second event is the Xmas Salute. For this event, soldiers will need to finish some preparations for the celebration, and hand in shells to be used in the gorgeous festival fireworks show!

During this Christmas, Othello space forces are preparing for their parties as well, by stealing rare resources and then making them into special supplies, the Sigma Boxes. We need to stop their production and remove them from our land. The defeated Othello will leave behind any Sigma Boxes they haven’t used, which should contain many useful supplies, such as Ultra gear, Dark Stars, Blue Stars, Red Stars and socketed gear! Captain Hugh Grant on the Warship will tell you how to open the boxes.
There are two other missions that will be held for a limited time. Why’s that? Because they give away very rare and limited prizes! They are the “Extreme Simulation” and “Piglet, the Patrolman”! Both of which will only be available on Dec 25th, 26th and Jan 1st, so don’t miss them! The rewards from the Extreme Simulation are never be sold, such as the Hi-tech Repairs, Dynamic Restorer, Extreme OD Battery, Winner’s Honor (may contain Ultra items), Alliance Materials, and much, much more! With these great rewards available, only one special skill is required, the transformations! So, be sure to practice them before you depart for this mission!
The last mission is “Piglet, the Patrolman”, many soldiers should be very familiar with this event! This time, 5 piggies will patrol in Blaze Ocean, Earth Scar, Mars Wasteland, Moon Fortress, and the Titan Icefield. During their patrols, these careless mascots can drop Zero Points (bound) as they wander around! What you need to do is just follow them and pick up the ZP boxes they drop! The stronger and faster your unit is, the more you will be able to pick up!
Bloodline Champions Review – Seems Familiar
Bloodline Champions Review – Seems Familiar
By Kei Beneza, (dividelife) OnRPG Journalist
Bloodline Champions is a free to play MMO that resembles Warcraft 3’s Defense of the Ancients custom map. The game revolves completely around PVP and greatly relies on teamwork. With other DoTA-inspired games like League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth hitting the scene, it was no surprise that games like this would follow. While the game resembles some of the titles stated above, Bloodline Champions also has its own unique features. It looks reaaaaaally similar to its game play brothers in my opinion, but is it really good enough to compete with the games it tried so hard to copy? I seriously doubt that this game is an MMO as it plays and runs like its predecessors (which would technically mean that DoTA is an MMO).
Starting Up
Upon logging in for the first time, players are opted to either play through or skip the in game tutorials. I would really suggest doing these tutorials as they help a lot in explaining the game’s features. I must say, I was quite impressed with the voiceovers, especially since it’s better to hear the instructions rather than reading it. Once you’re done listening to the nice man’s lecture, you’ll be asked to fight a mock 1-on-1 and 2- on-2 match. After finishing the tutorials, you’ll be opted to either create or join a game. It really is similar to Heroes of Newerth as players get to pick between an array of characters before starting the game, each with their own unique abilities that aids their teammates in battle.

Differences Stated
Unlike Heroes of Newerth, Bloodline Champions only lets players fight character opponents (no creeps here folks). Characters don’t level up either, making the game a bit… linear and very similar to a casual shooter game rather than a DotA clone. If I were to compare it with DoTA, Bloodline Champions play like a certain scenario in the game (DotA) where players are fully leveled and are all in the middle of the map mashing their brains out. It’s actually more like an arena fighting game, than a strategic battle of wits, as players march forward and beat the hell out of each other 3 seconds after the round starts.

Spells and effects also work differently in this game as players have an infinite amount of mana for their skills and gimmicks. The catch? COOLDOWN! That’s right! Even your attack button has a cool down, which makes it a bit annoying, especially with the honking sound playing every time you hit a skill that’s still on cool down. “Ultis” or special attacks are also acquired differently in this game as you recharge your strongest attack by damaging opponents. Troublesome really… This means that if you really suck at aiming, you won’t get to own people with your special sauce.
Another thing that caught my attention is the aiming system. Unlike its kin, Bloodline Champions makes players aim their shot rather than just clicking once on their target. It’s really annoying in my opinion, as the whole idea of your BASIC attack having a cool down was bad enough.
The controls are laid out differently as well. Instead of the traditional (yet effective) mouse movement, players are forced to use the WSAD keys to move around the map. The spell keys are awkward as well, with three of them placed right next to your W button (Q,E,R). It would’ve been better if they were just placed on the number keys. I mean, it’s not like you can move when you attack anyway, so why bother?
Friggin SLOW!
Yes, the game plays really slow compared to its counterparts. I don’t really know if it’s lag but the movement controls aren’t really that responsive. Characters seem to have a slow startup before running your desired direction. Let’s see… It’s like a racing game where players must shift into first gear before feeling the actual speed of the car. Also, the main fact that you have to stop in order to attack makes the experience absurd and snail-like. Really… is there a way to adjust the speed? Kthxbye…
Bloodline Medallion? Pfft
One unique yet utterly useless feature in the game is the Bloodline Medallion. Unlike its counterparts, the game lets players heal themselves by pressing the F1 key. Also, players can revive each other by pressing the F2 when close to a downed ally. Note that these effects are negated when hit by enemy characters. It’s actually not that bad if enemies don’t see you all the time, but the game takes place in a small friggin arena, meaning you won’t the have time to use it (unless it’s 5-on-5). Kudos to you if you managed to revive your ally in the middle of the arena, that’s skill.

Graphics
I must say, the graphics did appeal to me, especially with the traditional isometric view. The characters move fluently and the spell effects look marvelous. Nothing beats a bunch of flashing lights when executing your special skill. The interface is pretty basic but is nicely labeled to avoid confusion. When it comes to visuals, this game gets a thumbs up. The camera angle needs a bit of tweaking in my opinion, especially since it’s usually hard to see what’s on top of you. Maybe an extra zoom out? Yeah, that should do it. The visuals aren’t really that good compared to its predecessors, but heck, it’s bearable.
Verdict
Well, as far as I’m concerned, Bloodline Champions is still worth checking out. It’s a bit slow for my taste, but I’m sure it’ll appeal to some gamers. The matchmaking system is awesome, and the game does have a lot of characters to experiment with, so I suppose it would be a fun casual game for everyone.
Pros
Good graphics
Easy to learn
Just plain fun
Lots of characters
Cons
Slow
Aiming in FPSes were easier

Company of Heroes Online Preview : Glorious in Battle
Company of Heroes Online Preview : Glorious in Battle
Written by Joshua Temblett (Dontkillmydreams), OnRPG Journalist
As I sit inside my room, and the clear blue sky opens up over my little country for once, I can’t help but feel bad for playing Company of Heroes Online (COHO). Shouldn’t I be outside doing something else and enjoying the sun whilst it’s out? After all I have recently acquired Dragon Quest IX and that game isn’t going to play itself. So maybe I could play it whilst outside and sunbathing? All of these ideas quickly fade away as I begin to play COHO.
Nothing Like Gaming With Friends
The most appealing thing about Company of Heroes has always been playing the game online with friends. There’s just something incredibly satisfying as you and your team manage to pull off an excellent gank against the other team, whether they are controlled by real players or by the AI.

In fact several people in my gaming clan are deeply in love with Company of Heroes. They would play the original day and night, for hours on end, and I would join them. We’d play constantly against the AI bots in the Skirmish mode. Anyone who has played against the AI in this particular mode will know how brutal they can be. The developers of Company of Heroes Online have made a few tweaks to the computer players, making them harder than ever to defeat. Even if you and a few friends just plan to play together against the AI, you’ll have more than a blast as they trick and deceive you.
Competitive Gameplay
For the more competitive players, the match making system will suit you perfectly, even if it can occasionally pair you up against higher level players, but then again what match making system doesn’t do this? At the end of the day whether you’re paired up with higher level players or not, it doesn’t really matter in Company of Heroes Online as unlike a other games on the market COHO really is all about player skill. This is where Relic’s game really shines and it is why the original Company of Heroes is considered one of the best (if not, the best) Real Time Strategy games of all time.
In Company of Heroes Online there are so many ways to defeat the enemy and so many strategies you can use, no matter what mode you play. You can rush the enemy, or hold back and prepare an army. If your enemy does build a huge army you can still defend against them, instead of getting easily trounced. This is a game whereby you can use whatever play style you like.
If team play is your kind of thing, and you’re looking for game to play with friends, then COHO is certainly right up your alley. I can’t possibly describe the amount of fun my clan mates and I have had playing this title competitively and communicating via TeamSpeak. To put it simply, no matter what type of RTS player you are, the core game play will definitely suit you.
If you’re new to the RTS genre and are worried that the game will be to overwhelming, then you need not fear as there are a variety of tutorials (which give you nice rewards for completing them) to take you through the basic game elements, whilst also introducing you to new Free-to-Play components.

Free to Play?
If you’re an old veteran of the series and are wearily biting your nails at the thought of the game being Free to Play, then you need not fear, as the excellent core game play has not changed.
There are only two big changes to the format, the first being that instead of gaining experience points and new abilities during matches, you choose what abilities you can use before the match starts. Much like in Riot’s League of Legends you have a persistent character, known in COHO as a Commander, who gains experience from every match you play. Each time your Commander levels up, you can gain an ability point, with which you can use to buy a new ability or upgrade an existing one. This particular system makes the game incredibly addictive, as you’ll want to continuously play the game to level up and upgrade your abilities.

The second big change is the addition of the Army Deport, and Heroes character, which is another persistent feature in Company of Heroes Online. You can place army items in the Army Deport, such as upgraded tanks, which you can then use in matches. These items are generally very balanced, and add more strategy to the game as you decided on what army items to take into battle.
Heroes are just like Army Items, however instead of being upgrades they are different units entirely. For example you might take an infantry type Hero unit into battle, which will be much better and faster than the standard infantry you create in matches.
Both Army Units and Heroes have “Charges” on them though and you’ll need to use supplies, which are earned through doing matches against either the AI or real life players, to re-charge them.
Conclusion
Overall these persistent features add to the original Company of Heroes core game play and make it a much better multiplayer experience. If you’re a fan of the original then you’ll absolutely love these new additions to the game and it’ll certainly be something you’ll want to check out. If you’ve never played the original game, then this is a chance to catch up on a fantastic experience.
With regards to the single player mode, there’s nothing much I can really say about it as Company of Heroes Online is worth the download just to be able to play the excellent Campaign.
To put it simply, this is a game that should definitely by on your radar.
