Legend of Edda Interview – Never Too Cute to Kill
Legend of Edda Interview – Never Too Cute to Kill
Questions by Chen Fo Po (cinderboy), OnRPG Journalist
Answered by Henry Law, Producer, Legend of Edda

Legend of Edda is an upcoming MMORPG hosted by North American publisher, OnNet USA, through its MMO portal, GamesCampus. Developed by Korean studio, Eya Soft, which is well-known in the English market for Luna Online, the game focuses on PvP elements despite its cute and anime-styled graphic design. Is there more to this game or will it fall under the “generic” category of foreign imports? Let’s find out.
OnRPG: Hello, I am Fo Po (cinderboy), journalist at OnRPG. Can you please introduce yourself?
Hey Fo Po, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Henry Law and I am the Producer for Legend of Edda English Service.
OnRPG: The Korean server for Legend of Edda went “live” not too long ago, and I am pleasantly surprised at how quick the English server will be going into Closed Beta. Why the decision to bring in the game to the English audience?
The decision to bring Legend of Edda to the English audience was decided even before the Legend of Edda closed beta. The game’s features and gameplay from initial test not only grabbed our attention but left us and wanting more. This is the feeling we want all players to experience when playing Legend of Edda for the first and thousandth time.

Pretty Mount
OnRPG: Players have been comparing Legend of Edda to other games but most significantly, Ragnarok Online. How will you differentiate Legend of Edda from the supposed competition?
Legend of Edda picks up where majority of these games left off sporting the latest in intense gameplay action to adorable character emotes. One very unique feature to Legend of Edda separating it from other games is the intense RvR combat. The RvR warfare, not yet seen in any of the competitor games, is an important part to both Legend of Edda’s storyline and gameplay. Legend of Edda has something for everyone regardless a person is looking to step into the MMORPG scene or a die-hard PvP player.
OnRPG: Can you briefly describe the background story for Legend of Edda?
Legend of Edda’ backstory pulls from Greek mythology. Zeus, the god of all gods, overthrew Cronus and the Titans and banished them to the deepest part of the underworld, Tartarus. Since then, the Titans have been finding ways to escape and take back what was rightfully theirs. For them to have any chance they needed assistance, so they called upon the Heroes. Promised with immortality and the power of the gods themselves from both the Olympian gods and the Titans, players must ally themselves and fight for their allegiance.
OnRPG: Will there be any mechanics to prevent either side to become too populated and hence, creating some disadvantages to the other?
Yes there will be. If either the Olympus Gods or the Titans become overpopulated, the game will temporarily halt character creation for the overpopulated faction to keep balance. In the Korean service of Legend of Edda, this system has not been put to use. The overall distribution in that service is very balanced and I expect the same for the Legend of Edda English service.
OnRPG: How will the PvP wars between the two factions occur? Will it be an instanced battle or will it be available in the open game world?
There will be a lot opportunities for the 2 factions to slaughter each other in the game. The first is the free world PvP, where after the first few beginner zones, players from both factions will begin to share the same leveling areas. Here, players are open to attack from the other faction at any time, but of course there will be protected safe spots on some maps for both factions.

Sacred Treasure
Then there are the Sacred Treasure Wars, intense RvR battles between the two factions. These battles are taken place on a separate battlefield, each with a different objective. Here players must work with their faction to strategically complete the objectives while annihilating the opposing force. The winning side earns their faction special buffs strengthening their characters temporarily.
OnRPG: What are the requirements for players to participate in the faction PvP wars?
There will not be any requirements to participate in the Sacred Treasure Wars! Players early on will be able to join and battle for their faction. Of course for balance and avoid hours of frustration and anger, players will only be able to battle others in the same level brackets. These wars will occur around the clock and be available to all players. Low level players should not hesitate to enter in these wars, even at the lower brackets players will be able to earn their faction stronger and better buffs.

Fire Dungeon
OnRPG: What are some of the incentives to encourage players to participate in such PvP battles?
From the Sacred Treasure Wars, players can obtain class specific demi-god powers, special items, unique title ranks, and increased temporary bonuses to their characters. EYAsoft is currently working on adding more to this system, so stay tuned!
OnRPG: With PvP in the spotlight, how will the PvE experience in Legend of Edda fare? Will players who prefer to stay away from PvP have as much fun in the game?
Players can still fully enjoy Legend of Edda if they do not wish to participate in PvP. These players will still be able to benefit from faction buffs rewarded from the Sacred Treasure War. And there are a lot of instanced dungeons and world bosses for these players to tackle with great rewards.

Dungeon Boss
OnRPG: Being a PvP-centric MMORPG, the cash shop will be scrutinized by many players. How much gap will there be for players who spend in the cash shop compared to the players who don’t?
The item mall will provide no direct benefits to the gameplay & PvP. Initially the mall will contain functional items for experience, drop, crafting protection, and cosmetic items such as costumes. More importantly, these items will not affect the balance of a live Sacred Treasure War. As a special event during the Legend of Edda closed beta test, all players will be able to try out the items in the mall for free. During this time, we encourage players to give their feedback on the items.
OnRPG: Are there any events planned to celebrate the upcoming Closed Beta or even the Open Beta phase?
Why wait for Closed Beta? There are events already running for Legend of Edda. These events give players a chance to win an exclusive Legend of Edda USB flash drive with early access to the closed beta. During both closed and open beta, there are a few events planned but I can’t release too many details yet but I can say that they will give players a chance to win both in-game items and physical merchandise. Visit the main site for more details on the events.
OnRPG: Thanks for your time! I will be looking forward to a smashing great time in Legend of Edda!

GreedInc Review: All About the Greens
GreedInc Review: All About the Greens
By Kei Beneza (dividelife), OnRPG Journalist
GreedInc is an MMO web browser game that revolves around the modern crime scene. Crime based games seem to be at their peak now, seeing that titles like Grand Theft Auto are selling like warm cookies. Going on a crime-spree has never been this fun (browser-wise, that is). The game is also pretty profane; then again, it’s this type of profanity that makes crime-based games realistic. You’ll probably know what I mean once you log into the game. GreedInc serves as the big bad break for players who are sick of playing as the typical hero in various MMO games. Regardless of its profanity and mature theme, nothing beats heading over to the bad side of town. It’s like a pimped up version of Dope Wars if you ask me. The system is just incredible, with a whole lot of variety regarding places to visit, in game activities, and things to do.
Awesome Map!
One thing about GreedInc is that it allows you to visit various cities and countries all over the world. There are various ways of traveling in the game. The simplest way would be to check your GPS or browse through the nearby places using the navigation panel on the top portion of your screen. You can also use the search panel by typing the desired location. There are tons of places to visit and a whole lot of people to sell drugs to, so plan your actions well and enjoy traveling XD. There are also various ways to speed up your travel time, with 3 different types of NOS that take away a portion of your travel time. You can also lose gas in the process, so make sure you visit the gas station for a refill.

It’s all about the Greens
The game allows players to start up their own business be it legal or illegal. You will be prompted to start a weed farm shortly after your first mission. Don’t get too attached to it though, as more opportunities will come your way as you gain more money. Once you get your businesses running, you will be able to invest your greens on bigger businesses such as: Nightclubs, movie hubs, restaurants, amusement parks, and many more. Big time criminals need a hefty source of money so make sure you have enough cash to back you up.

All about the Greens
Goons R’ Us
In accordance to your financial status, you can hire goons or lackeys once you have enough money to spare. These individuals can make things a lot easier for you and can be sent on individual missions, allowing you to focus on more important matters. They can also be hired to protect your territory. We wouldn’t want people snooping around the drug farm and business right?
Arm Yourself Up! It’s Just Bin-ness See?
Robbing a bank is easy, at least if you have a nice sub machine gun to back up your threat. If you’re in need of guns, the black market is the place to go. This is where you can acquire items that will aid you in your criminal life, such as: stamina pills, guns, sims, pain killers, police armor, and other offensive material. Gardening solutions (for your weed and shrooms’) can also be found here. Things too expensive for you? You can always bribe city hall for discounts. I don’t know about you, but I’m learning a lot in this game XD.

Arm Yourself
Missions
Much like your average MMO, the game provides tons of missions for you to accomplish. Doing so can earn you money and sometimes a few extras along the way. You can also receive missions via your SMS page, which points you to a certain list of tasks accessible on the map, acting as your guide when you’re out of things to do. The missions are well presented, with text messages and rendered pictures that add up to the game’s overall feel. Normally, browser games just give you something to read and something to click. It’s very rare for an MMO browser game to possess this form of detail in terms of “Quest giving”. Here, missions are presented in a semi-graphic novel manner. Instead of simply reading/clicking something, you’re given a nice picture of your quest giver and a speech bubble stating his/her conditions. I believe it’s an excellent feature and can help immerse players more, especially with all the generic interfaces featured in today’s browser games.

Missions
Interface
The interface is definitely marvelous. The menu is conveniently located in various parts of the screen. A good example would be your SMS page that can be accessed either by clicking on the SMS tab on the top left corner of your hud, clicking the phone image next to your unfortunate wife/girlfriend, or by clicking on the top left part of the cross menu to the right. The elements are also well separated, lessening the possibility of confusion when accessing the features of the game. Eye candy is probably what best describes this interface. Images are scattered throughout the place, and you will never have to look at something as boring as a bunch of jumbled instructions.

Interface
Sinister Syndicate
If you’re tired of playing solo, you can always mingle with other criminals (players) in the game. Joining syndicates can help you in a lot of ways, and will increase the success rate of your missions and heists. I mean let’s face it! Even the best criminals need friends.
The Verdict
Hands down, this is browser gaming at its finest. It has a very impressive interface, a great non-boring presentation, and most of all, a fun experience. You can either play solo or join friends in pursuing their own reign of terror. Aside from the awesome value it presents, I’d say it’s close to being perfect. It’s not every day you get to be good at being bad, so why not give it a try? I assure you, it’s an awesome game!
Pros:
-Syndicates (awesome multiplayer function)
-Black market
-Missions
-Tons of things to do (variety)
Cons:
-Confusing (but just a little bit)
-People who want to play it for free won’t enjoy the Black market.

Sky Legends Announced For 2011
UTV True Games, an international publisher and developer of multi-player online games, and developer Smart Bomb Interactive today announced that they have partnered to bring a new online flight combat game, Sky Legends, built on the Unity engine.
Smart Bomb, known for the development of such popular games as Snoopy Flying Ace and National Geographic Animal Jam, are developing the upcoming free-to-play flight combat game that will have players taking flight in customizable airplanes built for fast-paced multiplayer battles in an attempt to rule the skies.

Players will take flight in this unique browser-based game where they will fly customizable open cockpit era airplanes and battle other players in fast-paced multiplayer combat. Influenced by FPS titles and based in a fictional fantasy world, Sky Legends will feature multiple factions to join or battle against as a work-for-hire mercenary that seeks to restore order to the world! The game’s item shop will include hundreds of items to enhance the player’s planes, weapons, and piloting skills, presented in numerous categories with exclusive items on offer. Airplanes in Sky Legends reflect the personalities and combat styles of their pilots; and with the diverse, fun art styles of three airplane classes to choose from and hundreds of possible enhancements, players will discover endless customization options.
“Sky Legends expands the typical flight combat genre of games and brings a fun and irreverent feel to the gameplay experience,” said Peter Cesario, Director of Product Development of UTV True Games. “Smart Bomb has an excellent pedigree of high-quality, fun and dynamic flying titles so we are confident that Sky Legends will be another amazing product from this team.”
At launch, players will be able to master the skies by battling in three fast-paced game modes including Dog Fight, Team Dog Fight, and Capture the Flag. Additional launch highlights will include community features such as friend’s lists, guilds, achievements, rankings and leaderboards. A diverse cast of characters, multiple weapons to earn and unlock, extensive customization features and diverse mission environments will appeal to both shooter fans and players who wish to reconnect with the aerial combat genre or try it out for the first time.
“Our team has an extensive background with successful flying games, and we are confident that Sky Legends will be an instant multiplayer hit,” said Graham Kays, Game Director of Sky Legends at Smart Bomb. “Our goal is to deliver the pulse-pounding action and intense competitive gameplay of aerial dogfighting without the complexity and inaccessibility of conventional aerial combat games.”
