Dragon Nest Scarlet Snow has Arrived

Dragon Nest Scarlet Snow has Arrived

Nexon is adding two new raid encounters, eleven new dungeons, and a sprinkling of festive holiday events to Dragon Nest today as part of the freshly released “Scarlet Snow” content update. The update for its popular online action RPG also ushers in new holiday sales in the Dragon Vault and a variety of seasonal outfits that will help players get in the holiday spirit. Be sure to check out our game profile for related screenshots and trailers on this major game update.

Dragon Nest’s level cap is being raised to 40 today, which means each character specialization will have access to all new skills, including an ultimate skill for the first time. These powerful level 40 skills, such as the Acrobat’s Falling Star and the Paladin’s Heart of Glory, will give players a surge of power unlike anything they’ve ever experienced in Dragon Nest.

Players will need to put these new skills to good use in order to conquer the two new max level raid encounters launching today, the Manticore nest and the Apocalypse nest. Available both on normal and hell difficulty modes, the fearsome new end bosses of the nest encounters drop the most powerful loot in the game, as well as badges that can be redeemed in Saint’s Haven for two newly released mounts. Mounts provide a movement speed bonus in towns and fields, and are also great ways to show off one’s status to other players.

The winter holidays have come to “Dragon Nest,” and a fun, festive atmosphere permeates the air in town and in dungeons. Players can purchase a holiday set package to receive special holiday rewards, or they can defeat Santa Ducks and Rudolph Ducks in dungeons to earn holiday fireworks, snowballs, or even a new gesture. Players will have plenty to explore in the eleven new dungeons opening up today for players levels 32 and up. Fans of player versus player (PvP) combat will also have all new gear sets to acquire.

In the Dragon Vault, players can now purchase Dragon Eggs in bulk at a special discounted price. Additionally, the drop rate of rare items from Dragon Eggs have been increased, and new Dragon Egg exclusive items have been added, such as the Golden Cupid Wings and the Cheeky Bandage. There is also a holiday sale going on now where players can receive up to 60 percent off selected character outfits. Festive holiday costumes are now available, including the Merry Wintertide Set for the Archer, the Mrs. Claus Set for the Sorceress, and the Reindeer Set for the Warrior.

For players who are not yet at max level, Nexon is making it even easier to level up by extending the level up rewards system to levels 25 through 40. Each time the player levels up, they will receive a special gift in their Dragon Vault Gift Box. Nexon will also be running significant bonus experience events all month long to make the leveling process even faster.

Brawl Busters Launches Commercially with New Boss Mode

Brawl Busters Launches Commercially with New Boss Mode

Rock Hippo Productions announced today that Brawl Busters, the hotly-anticipated F2P online multiplayer action game, has officially launched.  With the official launch, Rock Hippo Productions has released a brand new exciting trailer alongside scrumptious screenshots featuring festive new accessories and attire, a new City Hall Map and a new Boss Battle Mode.

Getting into the holiday spirit is easy with Brawl Busters!  Players can dress up in festive Santa Claus outfits, or they could deck the halls with themed Yuletide weapons to ensure all the naughty boys and girls straighten up before present time arrives. In fact you can even get a free Santa Hat starting today through OnRPG!

Ready to kick butt and chew bubble gum at the same time?  You may want to reconsider after watching this trailer!  The first Boss Battle revealed for Brawl Busters is the dreaded “Bubble Yum.”  He may look tasty, but don’t let his meek appearance deceive you. This huge pink monstrosity isn’t going to make things easy, and you especially need to watch out for Bubble Yum’s nauseating gas emissions. As if that wasn’t enough, he also tends to spawn armies of zombies. Don’t even try to take him on without backup – a full crew of experienced Busters will be required to bring this guy down!

“The new Boss Mode is exactly the type of challenge our community requested; this chewy gooey opponent wasn’t scraped from the bottom of any desk-he’s the real deal,” said Howard He, President and CEO of Rock Hippo Productions.  “The new trailer and screens shows off a fantastic cross-section of the game, including the new finishing touches players can add to their characters – with a variety of glasses, masks, goggles, and facial hair, players can re-create themselves in-game with more accuracy, or create the hero they have always wanted to be.”

Are you afraid of the dark? You’ll have to lose that phobia if you want to play in the all-new City Hall Station map which will test a player’s fear and keep them on their toes as they delve into this all-new nighttime map.

Nadirim: Arabian Intrigue, Tactics Combat

Nadirim: Arabian Intrigue, Tactics Combat

By Remko Molenaar (Proxzor), OnRPG Journalist

Nadirim is a free-to-play multiplayer browser game that has an Arabian fantasy setting inspired by the Tales of the Arabian Nights.

Nadirim doesn’t waste any time rushing you into the action. When I first logged into the game and made my character the town I was thrown into was attacked by a big octopus. After speaking with a few citizens it quickly became apparent that this mangy beast was my responsibility to deal with. Of course after saving this town their ‘if you give a mouse a cookie’ mindset was quickly apparent, and the citizens demanded me to run all over killing mice and digging for manuscripts etc. Thankfully the UI is easy on the eyes and very helpful for keeping track of all these tasks. Once you find your quest tab you can find every quest you have accepted and can toggle on an item or NPC tracking feature by simply pressing on the name in the quest tab. This will get a green arrow on the ground that will help you find your goal. If you still have some trouble finding quests you can also pull up your Map with M where you will find new quests and quest objectives. This will easily help you to find your way around when you’re lost.

In terms of building your character you currently have three classes to choose from. I chose for the Warrior which is a mighty soldier specialized in closed combat. You can also pick the Rogue which is more of a dps styled close combat fighter, and the Sage which prefers to engage the enemy from afar with the use of magic.

When you engage in battle it will cost you energy. Energy is a limiting factor on gameplay that can only be regained by resting or purchasing more energy through the cash shop. The regeneration rate of energy isn’t too severe though so cash shopping is only required for really hardcore grinders.

Speaking of the premium shop, you can also purchase Boosts, Weapons, Armors and Cosmetics. You will acquire 10 free Gems when you create your character which offers a nice little boost to help you get some premium items for free. The character models in this game adjust beautifully with hand-drawn graphics to match your equipped items so some of these cash shop items really made players look dazzling compared to the rest of us.

Now back to the combat, the combat system is more complex than your typical grinder but still kept easy during the early levels so as not to scare new players away. The gameplay takes place on a hexagonal grid similar to a honeycomb and happens in turn-based rounds. This makes the game quite strategic, particularly when teaming up with other players to tackle stronger bosses. Since I made a warrior character I had to spend most of my points to walk a few steps to engage my foes. When I was standing near them I could attack them with my skills; skill strength is balanced with a cooldown system so your better skills will often be unavailable for multiple rounds once they go on cooldown. Since each ability has its own utility, damage, and bonus status effects, you really have to plan out the battle so you don’t find yourself helpless to defend yourself at a vital moment of a fight.

You can unlock more skills by leveling up; after each level you can visit the Spell Book that will show you your unlock skills and the locked skills. The locked skills are seen in a grey unclickable way. You will see the required level under the skill so you can anticipate your future power via this menu.

Conclusion

Nadirim offers rich variety gameplay elements for everyone! There are a lot of quests and features that you can do that will keep you busy for quite some time. Unfortunately the energy system does require you to take breaks once in a while but since its browser-based that isn’t too big of an issue as I tend to play these on the go anyway. In addition to the original combat system, this game offers a gigantic open world for you and your friends to explore together. Various books hidden throughout the game world also share an intricate story explaining the struggle between the players and the Jin in preparation of the fall of the everlasting sun. The added bonus of being able to test your tactics in PvP against your friends really adds a lot of replayability to the game. If you are tired of the same old fantasy settings and static overdone point and click combat that’s become too common in MMORPGs, then I suggest you hop into Nadirim and experience something new!

AQ Worlds Shares the Wealth for the Holidays

AQ Worlds Shares the Wealth for the Holidays

Artix Entertainment, the indie game development studio that creates and publishes download-free, browser-based games played by over 130 million registered players, announced this week it will be giving away 200 AdventureCoins (ACs) to each of its 27.8 million registered AdventureQuest Worlds MMORPG players.

AdventureQuest Worlds is a F2P, browser-based, massively multiplayer role playing game. It has two in-game currencies: gold which is obtainable by completing quests and killing monsters, and AdventureCoins which are purchased using real world currency or earned by completing third party offers and watching advertisements. Several times a year, AE also holds contests where players enter to win AdventureCoins.

This is the first time in the nine-year history of the company that AE is giving away ACs to every one of its 27,800,000 AQWorlds players, a gift worth $27,800,000~

ACs are used in-game to purchase rare armors, weapons, pets, helms, capes, and house items. Most AC items are only available for a few weeks before they are permanently removed from the in-game shops, making many items extremely rare and highly coveted. 200 ACs is enough to purchase one rare item with Coins left over.

This Friday will be the start of AdventureQuest Worlds’ new winter holiday event, Frostval: Song of the Frozen Heart. Players will be able to battle ice-themed monsters, loot epic gear, and they’ll even have a chance to use their gift ACs in the limited time rare shop.

The AC gift will be for all players of all levels, so if you don’t have an AQWorlds account yet, be sure to make one before the AC gifts are given out on December 16th!

Heroes of Newerth Goes Big with Patch 2.5

Heroes of Newerth Goes Big with Patch 2.5

S2Games brought the heat this week with their patch 2.5 of their hit MOBA, Heroes of Newerth! With renovations made to mentoring, matchmaking, and aesthetic improvements, players will be seeing HoN in a whole new light (literally).

Mentoring

One of the common complaints of Heroes of Newerth is the steep learning curve required to get on par with the more hardcore players. Well now if you are one of those rough and tough pros and want to get your friend into the game and onto your level, you can guide them directly in real time through the early stages of the game. The mentor system gives you a live feed of your pupil’s screen, allowing you to communicate to him in a private chat through voice and text and even ping their screen with your cursor. As you might have inferred this of course means that live spectating of matches is also being introduced with this patch.

Matchmaking Rework

HoN’s matchmaking algorithms have been improved upon with this patch, ensuring shorter queue times, better matchups, and various group options to custom games to your liking!

New Items

HoN is offering two new items that should throw a wrench in the current tactics prevalent in the game. These items promise to bring some serious attribute buffs and even stealth assassination opportunities via item optimization.

Aesthetic Update

HoN is even planning to make the game look better with this patch! From ambient sounds to tree and creep reworks, expect to see a more beautiful game than you ever imagined!

Silkroad Online Announces Fellows System Rework

Silkroad Online Announces Fellows System Rework

Joymax, a developer and publisher of interactive entertainment for the global market, has revealed a rebuild, from the ground up, of its Fellows system for Silkroad Online which has just gone live. Fellows are all-new trained pets which have special enhanced abilities to help their masters conquer the Silk Roads. Joymax will be holding holiday events to usher in the New Year and commemorate the launch of its Fellows system and Magic Lamp service.

“The new Fellows system is a result of the continued efforts by Joymax to add exciting new content to Silkroad Online based on increasing demand from our loyal players,” said Joymax CEO, Nam-chul Kim. “With the implementation of this new gameplay mechanic, players will be able to determine and execute more tactical decisions as they continue their quests in the game.”

Fellows work alongside players and are a vital asset when going into battle. Not only can they utilize powerful attack combinations, which later on will become indispensable in battle, but allow players to move quickly throughout the game while sitting comfortably on their backs. Fellows are also very intelligent; they have the ability to judge individual situations by themselves to determine and trigger corresponding skills automatically. There are three types of tactical settings in the Fellows system – aggressive, defensive and buff. Players can choose a Fellow type based on their preference. It is also possible for Fellows to acquire additional abilities or special skills like Spirit Points by visiting the store. To see more Fellows, be sure to check out our screenshot archive.

Beginning December 20th, 2011, players will be able to access the Magic Lamp service for a limited time.  Enter the Item Room and make a wish by polishing the fantastic lamp clean with the Magic Cleaner.  A genie will appear and grant players their special wishes; to celebrate the launch of this rare service, players will receive a coveted 12th grade equipment item to wish upon.
