The Elder Scribe: Mid February Awesomeness

The Elder Scribe: Mid February Awesomeness

By Shannon Doyle (Leliah), OnRPG’s Elder Scribe

It has only been two weeks since the last Elder Scribe article but there has been a ton of news! A new Ask Us Anything, a milestone reached, a story, and even some food.

First up, the food truck. A food truck will be going around the US this year starting at SXSW in March and ending at the University of California, Berkeley on October 4th. It will make stops at every major convention, PAX East, PAX Prime, E3, Comic-Con, and several Universities from California, Michigan, Arizona, and Massachusetts. Live in Europe? Have no fear, they haven’t forgotten about us! There aren’t any details just yet. But it seems pretty likely that they will at the very least be at Gamescom in Cologne in August. So, what kind of things can you expect at these trucks? Tasty treats (calling sweet rolls now), the possibility of swag, and a chance to meet up with fans. I know what I’ll be headed for at PAX East!

Elder Scrolls Online Gets 1 Million Likes! And we get an awesome video. If you didn’t love the Elder Scrolls Online development team before you will after you watch this video. Either ZeniMax is an awesome place to work or they’ve all snapped under the pressure. Either way they’re awesome! And our Lore Master only got even more awesome than he already was. I’ll let you watch the video to find out why. Congratulations ESO team!

The latest story from ESO has gone live. It is the book of Travails and Triumphs of a Monarch by His Majesty King Emeric. You can read it by going to the site and reading from the little book that pops up when you click the link.

Or, if you haven’t read the rest you can still access them.

Ayrenn The Unforseen Queen

Jorunn the Skald-King

The latest Ask Us Anything opened the questions from just the three alliances to a variety of topics. Here are just a few of the awesome questions.

Will each alliance focus on its own specific roles (classes)? For example, Aldmeri Dominion is mostly mages and Daggerfall Covenant – warriors? – By ?????? ????????

We feel strongly that you should develop your own role, regardless of which alliance you choose.

Are we going to see known types of weapons (e.g. Steel, Silver, Glass, …)? – By Nicolai Spatz

Yes, you are definitely going to see many of the weapon and armor materials you’ve seen in other Elder Scrolls games.

Being the huge fan of Orcs I am, their culture interests me very much. Their worship of Malacath was the most interesting to me, but also the most confusing. Is Malacath widely accepted as a deity, or is it only certain, small groups that consider him their god? Also, will he make any kind of appearance in ESO? Most importantly, I’m confused on what he is and what his relation to the Orcs is. – By Daniel Molyneaux

As with other races, the religious practices of the Orcs vary from place to place and from clan to clan. Some Orcs worship the Daedric Prince Malacath; some Orcs (including most of those in the Daggerfall Covenant) worship the Divine named Mauloch, whom they insist is not a Daedra at all; and some Orcs could care less whether their god is a Daedra or not, and worship him under either name. In such matters of metaphysics, it’s difficult (if not impossible) to determine what the “truth” really is.

And finally, the most recent question of the week has to do with factions. Specifically, if you could make a faction yourself what would it be? And what would you name it? These questions are asked to create conversation and possibly so the devs can steal all the best ideas. Ok, not really that last one. But these weekly questions really keep conversations going. You can join in on them by going to the Facebook group and posting your answer under the video.

There may not be any news on the beta yet but we still have plenty to look forward to. Food, fun, and more..I couldn’t think of another word that starts with an F. Sue me. (Please don’t)

See you all again next week when, baring any OMG Earth shattering news I may start taking a look at the fan sites that are popping up.

Have a great week everyone!

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Announced

The news Final Fantasy XIV fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Beta on FFXIV: A Realm Reborn will begin on February 25th, assuming nothing comes up in the mean time like bugs or server errors. The old behest system has undergone such massive changes they’ve renamed it to guildhest. The beta test will be limited to the areas around Gridania, and quests from the main scenario will be available, though limited. Leveling past 15 will be a bit of a pain while access to content is limited, but don’t let that stop you!

Darkfall: Unholy Wars Looks Towards Crafting

A new video has been released showing off how crafting will work in Darkfall: Unholy Wars. It includes the 98 different items you can harvest! Also 17 crafting skills, 12 crafting masteries, more than 70 crafted materials, and so much more! Don’t worry though, the video is only a minute and a half long so it won’t show you everything.

Ragnarök Comes to Cultures Online

The end of the world is coming to Cultures Online in a new update. The content is for level 20 and up to try to appease the Gods with offerings, and unlocking a new level 20+ dungeon.

Cultures Online with Ragnarök: Together Against the End of the World

Cultures Online

Sometimes even the Gods argue. The Earth always quakes and the sea whips into the air when they are at loggerheads. Even in Cultures Online they can’t always put aside their differences and then is when it gets pretty ugly in the Cultures world.

gamigo’s successful construction browser-game, Cultures Online, is threatened as of today by a godly catastrophe: With the Ragnarök update players from level 20 upwards try to prevent the end of the world by presenting the Gods with offerings. As well as appeasing the deities, the offered resources also unlock a new dungeon (level 20 upwards).

The more resources players offer the Gods, the more often they are allowed to enter the holy halls of the Ragnarök dungeon and the better their chance to obtain rare set items with especially good attributes.

A tropical paradise, home to the Tequanis, Aviaks, and a variety of creatures both friend and foe. It is called the Pearl Ring and is shaken by a war between two factions of Aviaks. And of course, you’ll be thrown in the middle of it all. The actual Pearl Ring itself is a massive round reef that surrounds an archipelago of small islands an a bigger island at it’s center. Or if you’re more a fan of remote, ancient races you might be interested in the Tequanis who are distant relatives of Gibberlings and inhabit the jungle in Irdrich. Though they may be cute and fluffy they may have a dark secret that no one will see coming.

New spells are incoming! Characters who reach level 52 will be able to learn two powerful new skills. Below is a list of all the skills coming in Lords of Destiny.

Each time Forceful Kick, Punch, Hack, Devastating Blow, and Flawless Strike are used 1 stack is consumed giving the abilities additional damage. Forceful Kick and Punch knock target back, Hack stuns, Devastating Blow and Flawless Strike inflict Deep Wounds giving additional damage for 3 seonds.

Reasoned Aggression: Generates 10 combat advantage points every second. While effect is active you are considered in combat.

Many of these attacks require Dragon Tears to be used. They can be obtained through purchase from the Servants of Light, performing daily tasks, and several other ways.

In addition as the level cap is increased to 55 an additional 4 rubies will mean you will be able to unlock even more training.

If this hasn’t been enough you might be in for a chance to take a look at it yourself with the Lords of Destiny Preview. It started Monday February 11th and will continue until Monday February 25th. Only players who have been invited will be able to play. That is until February 21st when the preview will be opened up to all players. In the preview are all sorts of events from a great battle to a Youtube diary, screenshot competition, and even a reward for doing a review.

This is all just only the beginning. We’ve yet to find out about the 8 new allods and six man dungeon. Plus much more that is yet to come. The expansion is expected in March so keep your eyes peeled for more information as the date approaches. We sure will be.
