Dragons and Titans Announces Improved Control Scheme, Icemaul and More

DaT Icemaul

Independent developer Wyrmbyte, in partnership with indie publisher Versus Evil, today announced that their new MOBA, Dragons and Titans, which delivers fast matches and unique and fun gameplay options, has received several important updates, including the implementation of an improved control scheme. After listening to community feedback, the developer decided to add a click to move system with auto targeting and key binding so that controls would feel more familiar to gamers used to playing other competitive MOBA games. The new controls also introduce strafing and allows for even more strategic play beyond pushing forward or firing while fleeing backwards.  Gamers can now choose to play with either the legacy controls, the new click to move controls or with a game controller.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of the new Spring Season kick off, which now boasts an updated pool of prizes for the top players. In addition to the exclusive Spring Season avatar, which is awarded to the top 100 players in the game, the top player in the US will win a Gigabyte™ BRIX Gaming Ultra Compact PC powered by an AMD A8 APU and AMD Radeon™ R9 M275X graphics.  The next 4 runners up in the US will win an AMD Radeon™ R7 200 Series Graphics Card, also by Gigabyte. Full details about the new prize pool will be released soon. The Spring Season runs from now until June 30th, so gamers should log in and start playing today to be in for a chance to win.

Finally, Wyrmbyte also released a new dragon today which adds to the growing variety of dragons players can choose to master. Icemaul dragons are the undisputed kings of the polar seas and are cold and cruel with devastating ‘Hoarfrost’ and ‘Ice Storm’ attacks. They naturally excel at siege attacks but can also use their long range attacks to break up enemy formations to take or reclaim territory.

SMITE Releases Kumbhakarna Patch with Massive Engine Update

By now most fans of HiRez Studios mythological MOBA, SMITE, were aware the Hindu Guardian Kumbhakarna was joining the battlefield of the gods this week. But quite a surprise in the patch notes arrived as we learned SMITE is updating to a newer version of the Unreal 3 Engine to push the upper ceiling of what they’re capable of implementing into the game to new heights. It’s all speculation what this could mean, but the future of the game just became a little brighter.

Beyond the release of Kumbhakarna, this patch saw some serious reworks to cripple and sweeping attacks that will make cripples slightly more valuable and sweep attacks used while moving a bit harder to land. Skills that apply both root and cripple effects will now still apply the cripple effect even if the target was immune to roots at the time. Sweeping attacks have had their accuracy honed.

Many gods that saw dominate play in the recent Atlanta launch tournament including Chaac and Nemesis have also been toned down a bit. See the full balance change notes on the official site.

Shadow Masters & Travian Games Going to Battle with Epic Arena

Epic Arena Pax Screen

Attention! Attention! Travian Games is calling all fighters, seers and archers to sharpen their axes and polish their swords as its turn-based fantasy chess game, Epic Arena, prepared to battle for mobile gaming supremacy this summer. Revealed at PAX East, Epic Arena is simultaneously coming to iPhone® and Android devices, pitting players in the middle of the battlefield as they try to eliminate their enemy’s team.

Developed by Shadow Masters, Epic Arena cunningly combines the deck customization of a card game, the exciting tactics of a board game, and high fantasy artwork into one epic multi-player gaming experience. With asynchronous gaming across iOS, Android and Facebook platforms, players can craft Power Cards, plan their moves, and enter the arena at anytime, from anywhere. In Epic Arena:

  • Command your allegiants on one of two sides: The Brotherhood of Order or Legion of Chaos. Each faction has unique assortment of powerful and deadly warriors.
  • Master cunning strategic moves on the battlefield. With a hand of six cards and five chances each turn to make moves, planning moves wisely can lead to battle glory or a quick – and probably very painful – defeat.
  • Attack using the myriad of gears and power ups. Players harness these power ups to smash their enemies, raising their sword in victory above their fallen, beautifully rendered corpses!
  • Surprise the enemy by using Boost Tiles on the arena floor. Give them hell when stepping on an Artifact Damage, Attack, Physical Defense or Magical Defense boost. They won’t see it coming until it’s too late.
  • Create unique decks by adding Power Cards to the standard Team Deck. Friends will quickly become foes as they succumb to their opponent’s perfected deck for battle.
  • Marvel at the sneaky Assassin, the deadly Soul Ripper, the powerful Dragon, and many more dangerous opponents in stunning high resolution graphics. Victories in the arena have never looked better on a mobile device.

Epic Arena will be available this summer as a free download on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. More information can be found at the official website.

War Thunder Update 1.39 Now Live and Ground Forces Coming Soon

War Thunder Thunderjet

Gaijin Entertainment has announced that update 1.39 for their WWII MMO mega-hit War Thunder is live. This major update is a milestone for Gaijin Entertainment as they release several new features including the support for user generated content, squadron battles, the addition of even more planes, and early access to Ground Forces Expansion.

War Thunder now supports user-generated content and players have access to special downloadable tools.  From now on users are able to create their own planes, from adding the tiny details inside the cockpit to truly personalizing their plane’s skin or creating a completely new model. A quick-check system ensures that newly created planes fit within the game’s parameters before allowing players to use them on local PC in custom missions or share them with the community.

Players can go one-step further in the creative process by using stand-alone maps and missions editor. Players can ingeniously build upon existing maps, using them as a blueprint, or go off on an inspired tangent to devise their own brand of new maps. Players can share as well as test out user-generated content via a special area housed within the War Thunder forum. 1.39 also offers Squadron Battles – competitive events for player created factions complete with PvP-rating for squadrons, calculated by the Elo system. In addition, update includes an additional 18 new aircraft, changes in the interface and improvements for player progression. Last, but not least, update 1.39 will allow those players who currently possess codes for the Ground Forces Expansion Closed Beta to be the first to play as either a tank or an aircraft 24/7, but not from the very start. Gaijin Entertainment will slowly implement Ground Forces Expansion into the update to ensure seamless gameplay.

The new mission called Battle of Kursk is based on a real life historic engagement that took place July – August 1943 where the Soviets defeated the German strategic offensive, thereby turning the tide on the Eastern Front. In the game, Kursk will provide players with AI-tanks, field artillery and planes fighting alongside real players.
