AQ Dragons: New mobile idle game coming soon

AQ-Dragons

Artix Entertainment, the indie game studio behind AdventureQuest Worlds and Battle Gems, is excited to announce a collaboration with Dashnet, the creators of the original Cookie Clicker, to create a new mobile idle game, AdventureQuest: DRAGONS (http://aqdragons.com). The game is in the final stages of development and set to launch this October for Apple iOS, Android, and Web.

AdventureQuest: DRAGONS is an idle game where you hatch Dragon eggs and raise them into full-size element-breathing world-conquering Dragons. There are 12 unique, painted, and animated Dragons including Steampunk Dragons, Faerie Dragons, Slime Dragons, and more. There are also several redesigns of popular Dragons inspired from the www.Artix.com video game lineup.

Each Dragon has a unique story told through the simple yet beautifully painted idle game style interface. For example, the Steampunk Dragon is not hatched from an egg—rather, it is built from a blue print prototype. As the story progresses, you continually upgrade the Steampunk Dragon’s hardware and computer AI until you reach the singularity and cause a robot uprising.

Depending on the breed (or serial number, as is the case with Steampunk Dragons), each Dragon is fixated on a specific type of Gem, which is what players will initially click on to earn points for their Dragon. Gem clicks unlock upgrades so the Dragon can earn more Gems on its own. True to the way of the idle game, AQ: DRAGONS allows the player’s Dragons to earn Gems even when the app or website is closed.

But what is an idle game, anyway? It is basically a game that plays itself.

Sort of.

In an idle game, you make all of the major decisions, but the tedious grinding and farming is automatically done by the game. Because of this, you can leave idle games running in the background while you do other important things… like work… or play our other mobile games like Battle Gems (http://battlegems.artix.com/), which was released earlier this year.

“I LOVE DRAGONS! I LOVE COOKIE CLICKER!” yells an unblinking, sleep-deprived Adam “Artix” Bohn, creator of AdventureQuest, as he continues staring at his monitor, furiously clicking away at a Dragon’s Gem. “This project is a dream come true! You should get a quote from the Cookie Clicker guys about Dragons!”

“Dragons? They’re alright.” replied Orteil, creator of Cookie Clicker.

AdventureQuest: DRAGONS will launch October 2014. More information (and more importantly, beautiful artwork) can be found at www.AQdragons.com

RuneScape: Player heat maps released

RuneScape

Jagex, creators and custodians of the fantasy MMORPG, RuneScape, have today released two new heats maps that visually depict player activity before and after the recent launch of The Lost City of the Elves expansion pack. Captured as part of the city’s doors opening mid-morning on the 22nd September 2014, they represent an aggregation of all global server populations and utilise a logarithmic scale to represent groups of players.

Divided into two framed sequences the maps provide a visual representation of activity throughout the game’s world of Gielinor, as well as a more detailed overview of activity within the city of Prifddinas itself. In the first map, the surge of players moving towards the gates of the city can be clearly seen prior to them opening. Providing a more localised view, the second map depicts the locations and activities that most attracted their interest once they were inside the city.

The Lost City of the Elves is the epic conclusion of a quest chain that players first learned about 10 years ago, and culminates with access to a host of exciting new areas to explore, each packed with fresh features for experienced characters to engage with.

Shards of War: New Sci-Fi MOBA revealed

Shards of War

Bigpoint, a leading global developer and publisher of online games, announces the release of Shards of War.  The beta phase of the world’s first, science fiction oriented MOBA will start shortly as a free-to-play client game.

War of the Worlds – Defend Your Home

In the future, scientists discover how to open gates to parallel worlds (Shards), thus proving that several alternate versions of earth exist. This new portal technology has created a crossroads of disparate universes on earth and plunged humanity into a state of chaos. The ensuing clash, as each reality vies for its own survival, has created a new age of unmatched conflict like nothing ever before. In this age of strife, powerful warriors known as Sentinels arise from each reality; some to defend, some to conquer. The Shards of War are upon us.

Intense MOBA Action in a Unique Multiverse

Shards of War is a new twist on the traditional MOBA game mode. Classic MOBA strategy has been fused with the speed and WASD style controls of top down shooters to create a unique PvP experience with both tactical depth and fast paced action.

In Shards of War, two teams of five compete against each other in 20-minute matches, fighting to dominate the other team and destroy their headquarters. At launch, there will be ten unique sentinels available for players to choose from: Flatline, Bulwark, Valkyrie, Vulcan, Rhino, Blitz, Striker, Gemini, Cobra, and Warhead. Every sentinel is a specialist in their field: attack, support or tank.

The objective of the rival team is to destroy the enemy headquarters by conquering and defending three different paths (lanes). Each team is given A.I.-controlled drones to help them in their mission. These drones are regularly shipped out by the headquarters to provide assistance. Both teams also have the opportunity to seize neutral drones in the map’s central zone. Experience points are rewarded to both teams for taking down enemy drones, destroying defensive towers and wiping out enemy players.: These points can be used by each team member to unlock valuable items that can then be taken into each match and equipped during the battle (Loadout system).

After every completed mission, players will be rewarded with treasure chests which will contain different materials of various rarity. These materials can be used to create items or upgrade existing items into stronger items in the game’s crafting area.

By leveling up one’s own account, opportunities will be unlocked to individual players to hone their character and activate stronger items.

Key Features of Shards of War:

  • Traditional 5 vs. 5 PvP MOBA gameplay
  • Science-fiction based, unique setting
  • Lots of action and intuitive controls through top-down navigation (WASD)
  • Item upgrades and crafting
  • Loadout system (Opportunity to choose from a pool of different items before the match)

World of Tanks: Rally Mode Now Available

World of Tanks

Wargaming has just released a new, unique game mode for World of Tanks known as “Rally Mode”, where players can race their tanks against other players in an ridiculous racing competition. To begin a race, select your Chaffee Sport (already in your garage), then hit the “Battle!” button at the top of the Garage. Then players will be sent to the battle queue.

The objective is to capture the base, or destroy all your opponents. It’s one capture point, but the capture meter counts both teams capture points simultaneously, even if every racer is on base. Make it to the end and both sides will meet in an open area with a capture point. From here, it’s a last grab at victory that will determine the winner(s).

To commemorate this new mode, a Rally Rush tournament is being held, where players can compete for prizes such as in-game currency and special tanks.

Dawngate Releases Update 36 & Ronan the Peacekeeper

Dawngate Ronan

Dawngate has announced the release of Patch 36, introducing Ronan the Peacekeeper, along with additional changes and bug fixes.

Ronan is classed as a ranged, physical damage carry. This Shaper excels in the Gladiator role, with mobility and empowered basic attacks making him great at last hitting, efficient trading, and large teamfights.

Ronan’s Abilities are as follows:

  • Passive – Pure Shaper – Keen Senses: Ronan may cast his abilities freely. Ronan’s wards are empowered by his heightened sense of hearing, augmenting normal ward vision with sight over walls and terrain.
  • Q – Bolt: Ronan dashes in target direction, resetting his basic attack cooldown and causing his next basic attack within 5 seconds to deal bonus physical damage.
  • W – Injection: Ronan throws his vim ampoules into the air around him. After 0.75 seconds they inject into him, removing all disabling effects.
  • E – On the House: Ronan throws a burning flask in target direction, impacting on the first target hit or after reaching max distance.
  • R – Reckoning: Ronan embodies Justice for the next 6 seconds, causing his basic attacks during this period to deal {35/60/85} (+0.2) bonus physical damage to his primary target and additionally ricochet to nearby enemy Shaper with the lowest percent Health to deal {75/110/145} (+0.6) physical damage. Reckoning will seek out 2 targets to damage if Ronan is attacking with a Bolt-enhanced basic attack.

The update will serve as the basis for Dawngate’s “Race for the Gate” tournament starting October 17. Producer Dave Cerra also released a new letter to the players. You can find the full patch notes here.
