Tanki Online celebrates its 5th birthday

Tanki Online

AlternativaPlatform, one of Russia’s leading developers for massively multiplayer online games, has a reason to celebrate! This week marks the fifth launch-anniversary of ‘Tanki Online’. On 4th June, 2008, the first version of the arcade-style tank action game officially went live. Programmed by a small group of dedicated developers, Tanki Online soon became a major player in Russia’s free to play games market.

Excitement and interest in Tanki Online also grew internationally as the developers launched versions in English, German and Chinese. More recently, a fully localised Portuguese version was launched for Brazil this April, 2014. Local servers ensure that every one of the 41 million registered users worldwide enjoys a seamless in-game experience. Further localised versions of Tanki Online for a wider international audience are planned.

Tanki Online itself has evolved a great deal since launch with AlternativaPlatform making regular refinements and upgrades to gameplay, including graphical and game balance enhancements. Many new in game items have also been introduced, some via Tanki Online’s in-game-store. Over the years, the community’s feedback has been invaluable with substantial updates and new feature ideas coming directly from player suggestions.

Looking to the future, AlternativaPlatform is planning further gameplay improvements as well as the integration of multi platform features. Furthermore, a new version of Tanki Online based on the Unity engine is in development. This version will be one of the biggest updates in the game’s history. Its launch is expected late 2015.

Celebrating with the community
Although planning for the future is well under way, AlternativaPlatform is not forgetting to celebrate five successful years with the current Tanki Online community. The developers have invited fans to participate in an interactive sweepstake that will test participant’s knowledge of Tanki Online. From 4th June onwards, there will be a new instructional video on tankionline.com/en every day. Afterwards, Tanki Online players who have registered for the sweepstake will have to answer as many questions on Tanki Online in the shortest period of time possible. The best amongst them stand the chance of winning exclusive prizes.

Players of Tanki Online can also look forward to several in game surprises throughout the week. From 4th – 9th June, for example, all battle funds will be twice as big, while the sought after gold boxes will be worth 5000 crystals instead of the usual 1000.

Tanki Online’s in game store will also feature some substantial discounts on in game items and equipment. The full list features:
