This year’s Localization Summit at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) will include an inside view on localizing Chinese games for a global market, presented by Shaun Newcomer, Vice President of Reality Squared Games (R2Games) and founder of the company’s localization department.

The talk will focus not only on the linguistic aspects of localization, but challenges faced in dealing with different priorities put into Chinese-developed games, where the primary emphasis is traditionally placed on monetization. Newcomer will discuss changes made to monetization features, content and UI/UX aspects to better appeal to a Western audience.

Codebrush Games announced that their multi-player fighting game ArcheBlade will officially launch this April on Steam. Another announcement will be made when the date is finally set.

The official release will add customization system (aka Gear Up) and more equipable items that are buyable either with in-game currency or real money. Phosphor Games announced today that after running a month-long contest, fans have chosen the tribe names and uniforms for the upcoming territorial war, which will have tribes compete for control of the decaying city and its resources. Nether will include the tribe system, featuring bases as well as special tribe objectives and a skill tree, at the end of March. In the meantime players can join one of the tribes and begin leveling up and earning skill points in order to gain an advantage when territorial fighting begins.

Nether is also releasing several new features, including a brand new flying Nether that swoops down from the skies attacking players with its razor sharp talons, a survival objective that gives users bonuses for the consecutive days they stay alive, and multi-person ATV for traversing the map while friends knock off enemies from the rear.

nWay and CJ E&M Netmarble have today announced an exclusive mobile publishing partnership for ChronoBlade, nWay’s free-to-play multiplayer action RPG, in select regions. CJ E&M Netmarble will have exclusive publishing rights to the iOS and Android versions of ChronoBlade for three years in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Northern Africa. Webzen has just announced that its Free-to-Play martial arts MMORPG, Age of Wulin will receive its very first expansion in May 2014. “Immortal Legends” combines two separate expansions previously called “Ultimate Scrolls” and “Legends of Mount Hua” in other regions, and will be launched as one massive content update. This will allow the two great expansions to synergise from day one for an epic experience.

The warriors of Age of Wulin will be able to demonstrate their Kung Fu skills in front of the whole server by taking part in the Mount Hua PvP Competition. Called after the legendary peak of one of China’s Five Great Mountains, “Mount Hua Competition” provides a list of great additions to the gameplay. Players will have to fight their way to the top of the mountain, battling for the unique titles and outfits and legendary sword as the ultimate prize. The final fight of the tournament takes place on the icy summit of the mountain, where twelve best fighters on the server will be chosen per year to become an Immortal Legend.

Another great addition to the lore-rich PvP system is the Youyun Sixteen Prefectures that will add a brand new in-game event for up to 96 players at a time. Players of all levels will be able to choose fighting as the mercenaries for the Mongolian invaders, or loyal soldiers for the Ming Dynasty in this brutal battle for total domination.

Last but not least, the upcoming expansion will also add The Martial Brothers Mentor System, that will allow combat veterans and Kung Fu masters to take new players under their wings and show them everything Age of Wulin has to offer, with benefits.
