Conquer Online: New Bruce Lee Storyline Details Revealed

Conquer Online

Introducing Lee-Long, the new playable class to pay tribute to the greatest martial artist and the legendary Kung-Fu superstar of all time, Bruce Lee! What’s the connection between Bruce Lee and Lee-Long? Why does Lee-Long appear in Conquer Online? All the information about Lee-Long is soon to be revealed!

Legend has it that every 120 years in a year of the Dragon, when the world is in desperate need of a hero, there appears a dragon warrior. It becomes the very incarnation of the dragon spirit. The dragons have many forms, such as turtles, fish, and imaginary creatures, but they are most commonly depicted as snake-like with four legs. Dragon warriors in different periods have different incarnations. The dragon warriors could even be a nobody like the Panda. Some were reincarnated as wise kings who ruled nations, while some might also be iconic martial artists.

Lee-Long appeared in the darkest period of ancient China. In order to scramble for the title of the best in all lands, the coveted riches had driven many martial artists to use powerful weapons to slaughter each other, including Taoist, Warrior, Trojan, Assassin, Monk, Archer, and Pirate. But Ninjas, the most mysterious force in the world of Conquer Online, got the epic weapon they craved. Other classes were struck back by the ninjas’ fierce attack. They almost dominated the mainland and sat upon the throne as King of Kung Fu.

According to legend, a brave warrior, Lee-Long, brought light back to the land by defeating evil beings. His appearance brought new hope to the martial arts circles.

CQThis is the first conceptual poster of the new class, Lee-Long.

Lee-Long was the incarnation of the dragon in Conquer Online. Players can find out the elements of the Chinese Dragon in Lee-Long, all the time. He specializes in attacking and dealing physical damage. That said, he’s a battle type class, with powerful attacks and the newest combo skills. Moreover, there’s a Control skill being introduced in Conquer Online for the first time, but to ensure the flow of battles, the Control skill will employ a different method. Players will not only experience the super flamboyant kicks of Lee-Long, but the primary weapon, Nunchucks, will shine in the hands of Lee-Long.

Next up: Lee-Long’s skill, nunchucks, and exclusive video of his fighting style. Keep an eye out for our next press release!

The new class, Lee-Long, which will be released on Oct 30th!

Fractured Space: New Details and Art Revealed

Fractured Space

A selection of new Fractured Space ship and crew art has escaped from the airlock at Edge Case Games, a new British games studio formed from the team behind Strike Suit Zero. Fractured Space is an online multiplayer, tactical space combat PC title set to enter Early Access on Steam later this month–players will command gigantic capital ships in team-based space battles. The ship artwork shows the massive scale and intricate detail of the Sniper and Hunter ships in two new renders. The new crew artwork also introduces the characters who will be responsible for how player ships perform in battle.

Once the Crew system is introduced, players will be able to boost the performance of their ship in certain areas, such as mobility or armor. Ships will always feature five members of crew, including a Captain. Crews will also level up as the player does, becoming even more effective at dealing with the enemy threat and instrumental in defining your play style in battle.

Each ship in Fractured Space is unique–differentiated by manufacturer, ship class and the loadouts they have access to. The Hunter and Sniper are both classed as medium-sized attack ships, each around 750 meters in length. The Hunter shown is a Zarek Industrial ship, which possesses the Blink Drive ability, allowing it to cover large distances in an instant. The Sniper is a USR ship (United Space Research), designed to inflict huge damage from a distance.

World of Warriors Review: Fighting in Celebrity Deathmatch Style Battles

By Ojogo

Ever imagined a game where you can just play the various heroes and warriors in known human history and put them in no holds-barred battles, celebrity deathmatch?

We have that answer in Mind Candy’s latest title for the iOS and Android, World of Warriors.

World of Warriors 1

Warriors

World of Warriors uses humanity’s penchant for war by using warriors from the annals of warfare of various cultures/nations. The game’s roster hails from a mix of historical and mythological warriors designed to look like their super deformed version of themselves.

World of Warriors 2

Warrior acquisition is done by opening doors in the temple. Rarer ones you can get by using premium currency, while the normal ones can be earned by paying in-game currency. Rarity is from common to rare to super rare and lastly to legendary. The higher the rarity of the Warrior you get,  the higher the base stats the warrior has.

World of Warriors 3

Your warriors can upgrade their base stats by leveling up as you get experience each battle. You will have to go through a mandatory “training” period to get to the next level. You can also evolve your warriors once you reach the level cap by using ingredients that you can earn through battles. Evolving increases not only your warrior’s stats, but also increases the level cap of your warriors. Evolving also allows your warriors to look different.

The game also has a warrior album that you can access where you can learn more about the warrior’s back story, current stats, and element affinity.

Battle System

World of Warriors uses a turn-based combat system where you face either single enemies or groups of mobs. Your warriors can use skills or normal attacks in dealing out elemental damage based on the warrior’s affinity.

World of Warriors 4

The game’s battle system uses a rock-paper-scissor damage multiplier system. The game’s four elements, fire, earth, wind, and water have a specific strength and weakness much like in a lot of elemental battle systems found in other games. This will factor in to how your teams are setup per encounter.

Your units always take the initiative whenever you start an instance with a half-filled mana pool, so that you have the option to switch to another unit in your team or use the skill of the current warrior in play.World of Warriors 5

Whenever your units take damage, the game allows you to recover some of their lost life via a quick-time event where you need to tap hearts released during the attack. This quick time also allows you to gain mana by the same process. Not tapping the hearts or mana icons in time, however, will make you lose the hp/mana you could’ve gained/recovered.

Attacks (both normal and skill) are quick-time events that require you to tap at the proper time. Properly executing the attack increases the damage dealt, with a perfect rating dealing out maximum damage.

Skills

The skills in World of Warriors are segregated into three general categories: damage, status ailment, and healing. While the overall categories seem limited, I liked how Mind Candy was able to put variety in the skills to make things interesting.

World of Warriors 6

Damage skills can deal out humongous elemental attack damage against opponents in play, while some can even attack those in the bench. The same goes for status ailment skills, which can be either solo direct attacks to the opponent or an AoE that can even affect those in the bench. Healing skills on the other hand can either be solo, AoE, or life steal types.

Critique
In a nutshell, World of Warriors is a surprisingly enjoyable romp into a world where every single warrior in recorded history is compressed into its game roster. The gameplay is simple enough but the complexity increases as you progress through the game’s PvE/mission system.

World of Warriors 7

With the game just recently released there are some integral game elements still unreleased, like the Guild and PvP systems, which Mind Candy promises to release by next year. So you’d just have to enjoy the initial PvE system for the meantime.

If there’s one thing I really liked in World of Warriors it’s the game’s tongue-in-cheek humor, especially the game’s disembodied announcer. I love how the announcer insults you whenever you deal out a weak attack or how it exults your attacks in a cheeky manner whenever you get a great or perfect hit. The humor also translates well to the AI through opponent mannerisms which include wagging the tongue at your warrior in play or wagging their butt at their faces.

World of Warriors 8

I also liked how the game is surprisingly playable even with older tablet/units. However it tends to bog down once the action kicks in, which can drastically affect the outcome of a match, especially when the lag hits during the QTE events.

World of Warriors is quirky and downright fun to play. It helps that you can play it offline even though majority of the gameplay is tied to its online features. The only problem I may have with World of Warriors is that there is nothing much else to do once you’ve finished quests or run out energy. The game just focuses on battling through instances and that’s that. You won’t be doing anything else, so that can be a drag even if you are at higher levels of the game.

Conclusion: Great

Overall however, I totally enjoyed my experience with World of Warriors even with all its shortcomings. The game provided a really fresh take into the world of warrior fighting and I must say it’s a really enjoyable game to anyone who’s looking for a bit of fun in their mobile/tablet gaming.

Shards Online: Alpha Version Set for Q2 2015

Shards

Citadel Studios, an independent video game development studio formed by industry veterans, today launched a new Kickstarter campaign for Shards Online™ the upcoming multiplayer game, in development since Summer 2013. The Shards Online pre-alpha was declared MMORPG’s Top Indie MMO of PAX East 2014, and is the first step towards Citadel’s goal of releasing the first-ever online game where player-run servers have the potential to support thousands of players.

“Citadel Studios knows what they’re doing, and they’re the right team to give the sandbox genre what it’s been sorely missing until now – Shards Online,” said Rob Denton, co-creator of Dark Age of Camelot and Warhammer Online. “It’s nice that someone is creating an RPG that offers something worthwhile beyond standard PvP, crafting, housing, etc. The player-run element makes this a totally new experience.”

The Kickstarter goal for Shards Online is $50,000, and to put their money where their mouth is, the game’s development team will match donations dollar-for-dollar up to the goal amount. If successful, that’s $100,000 going toward all the things Citadel needs to get Shards Online to alpha – final touches for crafting, player housing, animal taming, the first home shard and more. Each weekend during the campaign we’ll be streaming our playtests, so backers can see the current pre-alpha build in action.

Every person who donates $20 or more will receive access to Shards Online when it launches on Steam, and every person who donates $40 or more will get to play in the alpha (slated to launch in early 2015). Other perks include access to the pre-alpha admin program, immediate access to the game by becoming a playtester, collector’s game boxes and cloth maps and more. Backers can also snag special titles, familiars, live event opportunities and even a VIP party with the development team. By donating to the Shards Online campaign, you’re not just helping make the game; you’re becoming part of it.

“After listening to our fans’ feedback, we’ve been hard at work on updates like rotating cameras, a playable female character and improved graphics. With all the new additions, we can’t wait to show off our progress to the world,” said Derek Brinkmann, project lead and co-founder, Citadel Studios.

Infinite Crisis: Arcane Supergirl Coming soon

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has just released new info on their upcoming hero for Infinite Crisis: Arcane Supergirl, a powerful blaster champion, will be available on Wednesday, November 26. Players can burn down their enemies when Arcane Supergirl goes live in the game.

“On the day Kara Zor-El was to be inducted into the ranks of Heralds of Rao, her life was shattered. A traitor revealed the location of the Shrouded Realm of Krypton to the Black, and servants of that evil realm poured into Krypton.

The Hidden Lords of Krypton and the Kryptonians fought back bravely, but the forces of the Black were limitless. When all hope seemed lost, Alura, Kara’s mother and leader of the Heralds, commanded her Flamebird mount to snatch Kara away. Unable to escape the beast’s talons, Kara watched helplessly as her mother was struck down. The servants of the Black closed in on her as the beast teleported to Earth, a planet in the lower realms.

Her home forever lost, Kara swore that no matter the cost, Rao’s last Herald would have revenge on the Black.”

Trove – An Early Review

By Jordan Hall (ApocaRUFF)

Trove Intro

Introduction

Trove is the latest addition to Trion’s growing list of available titles. The game is voxel-based, fully destructible, and has a similar, but brighter and more fluid, graphic style to Minecraft. It features elements from both sandbox and hack’n slash RPGs. You’re able to build to your hearts content in your own personal space which can be displayed in the open game world, while adventuring in beautiful and interesting worlds with friends. The game also features group worlds that players can create and design from the ground up. It seems as though Trove has all its needs to be one of the best casual gameplay experiences out there.

Customization

As you might expect, the character creation in Trove is not very in-depth. However, that is more than made up for by the plethora of unique weapons, masks, hats, and more. The fact that you can turn all your old gear into skins provides a whole other layer of customization, too. Because of that, I’ve found Trove to be one of the better games I’ve come across when it comes to unique-looking characters. It’s difficult to find someone who even looks remotely similar to you.

Trove Review Character Customization

You’re going to come across a lot of weird hats and masks. Early on, I fell in love with collecting as many mask skins as I could. I liked the hats, too, but it was mostly the masks I found enjoyable. While doing dungeons, you’ll come across a lot of different types. The neat thing is, it appears as though a large majority of hats, masks, and weapons are designed by players. You can head over to the Trove Creations sub-reddit to check it out.

 Trove Review Character

Graphics

Bright and happy is the best way to describe the art style in Trove. Everything has a cartoonish twinge to it, from the textures to the designing of the models themselves. Even in the areas with “darker” themes, the graphics are more fun than anything else. The enemy design makes the game feel even more cartoony, with boss mobs that look like metal cages with boxing gloves inside that shoot out and knock you across the room. If you’ve watched American cartoons, you’ll be familiar with the concept.

Trove Review Graphics

Controls

The controls in Trove are superb. I never ran into an issue with them in all the hours I’ve put into the game so far. Usually I can find something to gripe about, but I’m struggling here. I suppose I could complain that they use B as the default keybinding instead of the usual I for inventory, but even that isn’t an issue. Trove will be getting a 5/5 for me when it comes to controls.

Community

The game is perfect for playing with people you already know – the download is small, there are plenty of features to make you and your friends have fun together, and it’s something you can pick up and get into quickly. On the other side of the spectrum, I found myself not playing the game at all unless my friends were up for a session. It’s not that I couldn’t get in and play with random people – the game basically promotes this by rewarding anyone who participates (or is even nearby) combat. However, the fun factor drops noticeably when not in your core guild group. Perhaps that’s just me though, but I feel like Trove is the type of game you’ll want to play with people in Skype or Team Speak over anything else.

That’s not to say it’s impossible to play with others. Heck, Trion does an extremely good job at making it easy for you to friend with people and join in their fun. There’s also various chat channels and, believe it or not, there’s a decent economy in the game. And it’s just a couple of clicks to get someone into your Club. And you really do want to join up with a good Club with a well-developed club world as it’ll give you access to all the high-end crafting stations and tools right off the bat, instead of requiring that you spend a lot of time farming items to build everything.

Gameplay

Gameplay in Trove is both casual and in-depth. You can hop in and play for ten minutes at a time and feel like you’ve accomplished a lot. And there always seems to be something new to discover – be it some rare item with an awesome skin, or a dungeon you’ve never seen before. Heck, my favorite part of the game is simply exploring around and looking at the various dungeons in the game. I’ll never forget the first time I came across a giant cactus wearing a cowboy hat or the Mario 64-esque flower sky castle.

Trove Review Classes

There are currently five classes in the game for you to play, level-up and equip. These are the knight (tanky melee), Gunslinger (ranged DPS), Fae Trickster (support-like caster), Dracolyte (Mage that can transform into a dragon), and Neon Ninja (DPS melee). There’s also a sixth class that has been announced, the Candy Barbarian. Each of these classes is leveled individually, but you’re able to switch between them easily. You’re only given access to the Knight and Gunslinger by default, but due to daily bonuses and other activities, you can gain a special currency that will allow you to purchase a new class every few days. Or you could just spring for it and buy them with real money.

Trove Review Combat

Combat in Trove is a blast. It’s a true-to-its-word Hack’n Slash, with constant action and a lot of movement. You’re only given four moves to work with, so it’s easy to learn your class. If you enjoy cutting through large and numerous enemies, this will be the game for you. There are dungeons full of diverse enemies all over the place and even roaming mobs to take on. Each and every corner seems to hide an interesting encounter in Trove.

Trove Review Map

Biomes are themed land areas within the various “worlds” in Trove. They can be a spooky haunted land, a beautiful fairy kingdom, or a parched desert. My personal favorite is the techno-themed Data biome. Depending on the biome you’re in, you’ll run into certain types of enemies and dungeons. Each has its own unique look and feel, so there’s a definite difference between them all. What’s cool is you can “import” some of the biomes into your Club World (which I’ll get into later).

Trove Review Dungeon

Dungeons are simply ridiculous in Trove. And I mean that in a good way. Take any happy or fantastical dream you’ve ever had and you’ll probably find it (or something resembling it) within Trove. I’ve seen dungeons that look like giant train stations, cactus with cowboy hats, floating castles, dragons perched on lava-spewing hills, theaters… There’s so many and I’m fairly certain I’ve only seen a fraction of what’s available after hours and hours of play.

Trove Review Dungeon2

Besides the look of a dungeon, the gameplay offered of the dungeons typically falls into a predictable formula. Depending on the star-rating of a dungeon, there will be one or more bosses. A majority of dungeons have a single boss. You go in, fight your way to the boss, loot the chest he drops, and then use the portal that spawns to teleport back out. The higher starred dungeons will have multiple bosses, or rooms with special totems that spawn wave after wave of enemies that must be killed. Generally, the harder the fight, the better the reward.

Trove Review Loot

Which brings me to the loot. It seems like the loot in Trove has randomly generated stats, for the most part. And due to the large (and ever increasing) selection of models available for the various items, it will be a while before you begin to get duplicates (in terms of looks) of items you’ve gotten in the past. Because of the way loot works, it encourages you to go out and clear dungeons over and over, looking for the rarest and best of gear. Or you might just be trying to fill out your styles page.

Trove Review Player House

Cornerstones are something unique to Trove. I’ve never seen it done like this in any other game. Spread throughout the various worlds, including the hub world, are these platforms. You can temporarily claim these and use them to spawn your personal cornerstone. That means while you’re in the hub world you can bring out your completely customized home to prepare for adventures, and then when you’re out and about and realize you need to refill your flask or recycle your loot, you can just find the nearest vacant cornerstone to summon your own personal domain for yourself, your group, or anyone passing by to use.

Trove Review ClubWorld

Which brings me back to Club Worlds. When you create (or join) a club, it grants you access to a Club World. This is a large space, much larger than the Cornerstones, where members of a club can hang out, chat, build, or make use of communal crafting stations. This can encourage you to join an established club in order to gain access to their well-stocked Club World. Other games give this type of communal land for guilds, but none do it quite like Trove has managed to do.

Trove Review ClubWorld2

What’s really amazing is the amount of customization that goes into play with these Club Worlds. You already have Trove’s robust building system, but in Club Worlds you actually build the world one piece at a time. You start out with a single, small, piece of land and from there you and your club mates can farm resources to build further chunks of lands with various themes that often mirror the biomes you can find while adventuring. Right now the selection is fairly slim, but I imagine as Trove continues to evolve more and better options will become available.

Trove Review Crafting

Crafting in Trove is a lot more in-depth than I initially thought it would be. There’s a plethora of stuff to craft – heck there’s even a special dungeon type that specializes in dropping crafting recipes – and you’ll seemingly always have something to strive for. Even my friend who has invested more time in the game than anyone I’ve met still seems to have one project or another he’s working towards. Plus Trion has already proven with their Trove Halloween event that they plan to introduce temporary holiday-specific craftables. This is one of the few games where I felt like I could always have a project to work on and not have that project feel like a chore.

Trove Review Mounts

I’m going to close-up by mentioning the mounts and mag-riders. Mounts are fairly self-explanatory – they’re things you ride to get around faster. Right now there’s only a limited selection, but these range between horses, alligators, and bouncy-balls. You can get them either through crafting, buying with a currency that is gained in-game, or purchase them using cash. There was a special pumpkin bouncy-ball mount that was available during the Halloween event, which gives me hope for there being a lot of absurd and interesting mounts being added in the future.

Trove Review Mag Rider

Mag-riders are similar to mounts in that they’re something you ride. For the most part, they don’t have much use in adventuring. I’ve only run into mag-rails in the open world on rare occasions. Usually you will come across them in a player’s Cornerstone or a Club World, and they can be a blast to ride. But because they’re not very practical, they’re seen more as a luxury rather than a necessity, unlike the regular mounts.

Trove Cactus Dungeon

Conclusion: Great

I am almost 100% sure Trove will be a hit. It’s already got a large and healthy player-base. My only worry is that players will get bored of the game after they’ve played for a few weeks or months. While there’s certainly a lot of alluring and engaging content, I’m not sure there’s enough there to keep people playing for the long-term. But, despite that fear, I plan to continue to play Trove with my friends as it’s one of the more delightful games I’ve played in recent years.

Features: 4/5 – A lot of good stuff.

Customization: 4/5 – Would be nice to have some more options for customizing your torso.

Graphics: 5/5 – I love the style of the graphics.

Controls: 5/5 – They worked perfectly.

Community: 3/5 – It’s alright but you’re best bringing your own friends.

Overall: 4/5 – Certainly not the perfect game, but the potential is definitely there.

Amsgames Adds Golden Black to Kickstarter

Golden Black Kickstarter

Yesterday, Amsgames, LLC, a small independent video game company, announced the publish of their unique RTS MMO game “Golden Black” on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter. Golden Black is an ambitious RTS MMO game, themed on pirates and to be released on PC, iOS and Android; which proposes a unique gaming experience that mixes classic RTS game mechanisms with MMO, MOBA, RPG and SANDBOX elements.

Of the game’s playable feedback and scope, Amsgames CEO Alejandro Mostajo said “Upon listening the feedback obtained from the prototype and visualizing the game’s future, we believe that Golden Black will push the RTS genre forward, evolving it into something new and fresh for the gamers.”

After long months of prototype development, the company decided to publish the game on Kickstarter aiming to get the funds needed to finish the development of a public release:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/amsgames/golden-black-rtsmmo

Golden Black Gameplay Concept

Golden Black’s approach on the RTSMMO genre is unique; the idea of having a never ending gaming experience where the player can navigate across maps playing RTS doesn’t exist in the market. The addition of having a customizable and upgradable hero only adds value to a gaming experience with huge potential.

The game’s design and theme open the opportunity to make it grow on features after its release and success. Amsgames wants to create a gaming community and expand the game’s capabilities.

The game’s official profile page can be found at the company’s website.
