Camelot Unchained Reveals Glorious Design Changes

A surprise Backer newsletter today for CityState Entertainment’s crowdfunded Realm V Realm Sandbox MMORPG, Camelot Unchained, dropped some pretty big bombs on the community today.

Stealth

Hotly debated, stealth has finally been confirmed as a function in the game. Stealth classes are promised no movement penalties until they come within close contact with an enemy, at which time they automatically slow down to allow them to get the perfect drop on their opponent. These classes will feature powerful initial strike attacks and plenty of crowd control ideal for making 1 on 1 encounters completely one sided. They’re also being limited to robed armor to avoid detection from the creepy crawlies living within the veil that they must walk through while in stealth.

This amazing class is sure to draw a large number of the playerbase to it, so initial population will be limited by a special Builders pack to ensure plenty of prey for these characters. Obviously necessary for proper testing purposes.

Pay-to-Win

Mark Jacobs has addressed the recent concerns by Founders of CSE’s stance on pay to win. Luckily reason has won out, allowing founders to ensure their permanent win status by offering those who contribute over $5,000 a sub title of WINNER. Future players and less generous backers will subsequently be labeled by non-option LOSER titles to ensure no confusion in the Pay-to-Win stance.

No Cash Shop ConfirmedWhile on the note of monetization, the concerns of a cash shop have at last been buried. Camelot Unchained will be taking credit cards only. You can be sure to purchase all super hero racial boons, weapon and armor buffs, instant heal pots, and more with a quick punch in of your card number. Those who refer a friend to spend can also rest assured that they’ll be cut in on a percentage of proceeds from said transactions.

MMORPG Mechanics Disregarded for MUD Combat

Recognizing that there was simply no way to meet the high expectations of backers, Camelot Unchained has announced that the pen will be mightier than the sword with their reveal of MUDUI (Massively Unifying Direct User Interface)! Now the limitations of your crafting or combat prowess are literally your imagination, as you race your foes to type in the ultimate attack combination before they can pwn you. “Fight, kill, stop, please, you, and stealth” will be limited in use for balance sake of course. Though it’s not unlikely that said limits can be stretched in the new credit shop.

There’s much more to cover including new capturable islands in space and Mark’s plan to undersell competing gold sellers and account levelers to cut out any chance of outside sources competing in the game. Be sure to check it all out in the full newsletter here!

War Thunder Introduces the “Walking Tank”

War Thunder Introduces the “Walking Tank”

Gaijin Entertainment today announced that War Thunder’s 8 million players will get a chance to experience the unique capabilities of an armored behemoth known as ‘The Walking Tank’. Developed in Top Secret by Soviet Forces at the beginning of World War 2, the ST-1 walking tank was the brainchild of Soviet engineers in a bid to bring truly mobilized firepower to the open battlefield. The concept behind the all-terrain walking tank was to breach battlefield areas where traditional tank formations could not advance, smashing enemy armored divisions in their wake.

Designed to obliterate heavily fortified enemy positions and installations with its heavy main gun, the ST-1 was a radical new approach to conventional tank design. The walking tank’s unique design meant it could navigate the deadly hazards of anti-tank obstacles, such as trenches, and was practically impervious to standard anti-tank mines. The War Thunder development team was given exclusive access to Top Secret Soviet archives and design documents to recreate the ‘Walking Tank’ for War Thunder.

During World War 2, as a direct result of the high production and maintenance costs coupled with the fact its upright walking mode made it a highly visible and vulnerable target to enemy ordnance, the ST-1 Walking Tank was retired from service. The ST-1 can be found in the list of German and American ground force vehicles. Incredibly, five of the walking tanks were captured by German Forces in 1942 and three tanks were shared with American Forces as part of the Technical Developments Exchange Program. Aspects of the the ST-1 design features lives on in other Soviet tank projects, and the turret of the ST-1 is a design combination of the KV-2, T-26 and T-60 turrets.

War Thunder players are also being given the opportunity to try a brand new mode with a uniquely experimental tank providing new and experienced players with simulation quality gameplay. The first tank available in the mode is the SPS-255. Formulated with special rubberized armor, it has no particular vulnerabilities anywhere on its armor. That’s why instead of the realistic damage model used for all the other vehicles in War Thunder, the SPS-255 introduces a new hit-point system which depletes opponents’ tank hit-points with every on-target hit scored. Furthermore, two unique types of specially formulated shells were developed specifically for use in the field of combat and both deeply rooted in military history. The development team is confident that the new mode will be enjoyed by novice players who have not yet mastered the realism of tank combat in a game like War Thunder. Battle hardened and experienced tank crews may also appreciate the ‘unique’ ammunition as a welcome break from brutally realistic battles.

Try the new ST-1  and SPS -255 tanks in action in War Thunder in the “Events” section. Watch the video of this tank in action here.

Echo of Soul Reveals Vast PvE Content

Echo of Soul Reveals Vast PvE Content

Echo of Soul, the upcoming free-to-play fantasy MMORPG, today revealed new details about the game’s expansive player vs. environment (PvE) combat. Offering deep and sophisticated single and multiplayer content, PvE combat gets more challenging as the game progresses, with diverse environments, dungeons and bosses to battle along the way. Players must work together to overcome foes and take on endless challenges in Party and Infinite Dungeon play modes, or embrace their inner strength and battle it out in Solo Dungeon Mode.

“We are really proud of this game’s breadth of PvE content, including the diversity of the 60 hand-crafted dungeons and the 150+ bosses that all require unique strategies to conquer,” said Tom Nichols, Vice President of PC Games at Aeria Games. “With over 1,600 quests across 68 beautiful landscapes, we wanted to make sure that whether your party has five people or just one, you’re having a great time, with hundreds of hours of content to play through.”

With thrilling dungeon experiences like the sinister “Necromancers’ Den” and the haunting challenges found in “Vagrant’s Copse,” players will need to muster up the courage and plan their strategies wisely to battle through Solo Dungeon Play. Solo Dungeons also test players’ resolve with environmental traps such as damaging pools and poison gas — and solo bosses only drop loot for your class, so they are a fantastic way to gear up!  In addition, leaderboards keep track of players with the fastest clear times and special titles are awarded to players that kill certain bosses first.

Echo of Soul Reveals Vast PvE Content

In Party Dungeon Mode, players gather a group of five Soulkeepers and experience the excitement and tension of enemy strongholds like the Lost Crypt and the Promethean Giant’s Hideout. Nothing is more satisfying than watching a beaten enemy fall to the ground after a hard-fought battle with companions – but there’s no time to rest, there’s always an even stronger boss lurking around the corner.Echo of Soul deliberately has no Healer class, forcing players in Party Dungeon Mode to work efficiently together and devise unique combat strategies for each dungeon.

Players will find all manner of enemies in the Infinite Dungeon Mode. These ever-changing environments are popular spots for Soulkeepers to hone their skills, obtain useful materials, and revisit former foes. With randomly generated terrain and monsters, and multiple difficulty levels, Infinite Dungeon Mode offers a new challenge each and every time.
