Studio Wildcard is partnering with Epic Games to bring the full power of the Unreal Engine 4’s tools and development resources to the ARK: Survival Evolved modding community with one of the first custom mod editors. ARK: Survival Evolved, the open-world dinosaur survival game from Studio Wildcard, has achieved wild success in just 30 days of Early Access on Steam, already selling more than 1 million copies.

“ARK provides a brilliantly creative universe for modding, and a wealth of beautiful environments and dinosaur content to build upon,” said Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic. “Many of us here began in the mod community, so we’re grateful to see Studio Wildcard open up their creative work to a new generation of programmers, artists, and designers.”

Players who have purchased ARK can begin modding immediately! Follow the “How To Mod” tutorial to get started, then join the ARK community, participate in the Unreal Engine ARK Modding forum, and find content in the Unreal Engine Marketplace. Modders can then share their creations with the ARK gamer community using Steam Workshop.

“As we’ve opened up the world of ARK to everyone, we’ve been seriously on the edge of our seats with anticipation. The amazing gameplay ideas lighting up the forum conversations can be turned into reality right away,” said Jesse Rapczak, Studio Wildcard co-founder and co-creative director. “The UE4 mod tools that we’re providing are phenomenal, and we can’t wait to see the limitless creativity of our fans come to life in fantastic new ways.”

Epic and Wildcard will come together on Twitch.tv/UnrealEngine on Thursday, July 9 at 11 a.m. PST/2 p.m. EST to walk the community through the ARK modding process. More details are available here.

Having established their mainstream origin with early 3D games such as Quake and Unreal, mods have been a central driver of the game industry. Modding heritage can be found in major franchises such as Counter-Strike, genres such as the MOBA, and professional game studios throughout the industry. A thriving mod community can act as a force-multiplier on a game, often going far beyond the original developer’s creation both in size and scope.

Anime Expo 2015 Cosplay Recap

Anime Expo 2015 DizzyPW

This year Anime Expo LA was larger than ever, as over 90,000 fans of Japanese Animation flocked to the Los Angeles Convention Center to catch a glimpse of the latest news, purchase some of the highest quality art prints, snag swag, and test out the coolest upcoming Anime games! While we had a chance to go hands-on with some of the sweetest upcoming games, including Namco Bandai’s Naruto Storm 4, it was the mobile game publishers that were out in force this year.

Gumi Inc in particular had a sweet upcoming Anime styled mobile RPG, Phantom of the Kill. I played the game for twenty minutes and was surprised to find an experience not unlike Fire Emblem in terms of solid tactical RPG goodness, with fully animated attack sequences between characters, and strategically laid out maps forcing you to fully utilize your units strengths with proper formation to defeat overwhelming odds.

Gamevil was also present showcasing their critically acclaimed Kritika and Dragon Blaze, with some spot on cosplay representing characters from each. Despite Toast’s tiny booth, their demo of drifting dating sim hybrid, Drift Girls, as well as their flagship game, Crusaders Quest, drummed up a line all the way down their booth’s aisle!

But of course the true story of the show was the sheer unimaginable number of copslayers in attendance. I don’t think any solo photographer could have captured them all, even if that was their sole purpose at the show. Every fifth person in attendance was wearing at least a partial costume, and every twelfth attendee had on costumes that would flat out dazzle you. We saw everything from full sized transformers, to a functioning R2D2 remote control droid, to the full cast of the original Power Rangers facing off with a gender bender line-up of Sailor Scouts! Catch all our shots below in our new gallery system!

TERA Go Berserk Update Launches Today

TERA Go Berserk Update Launches Today news header

En Masse Entertainment, a player-driven publisher focused on delivering great games and exceptional service, is excited to announce the launch of the Go Berserk update for TERA, the most-played MMORPG on Steam. Starting today, players can Go Berserk with new berserker class skills for tanking, a new PvP battleground, new dungeons and more.
For the first time ever, players can protect their party as a berserker-class tank with an array of new level-65 tanking skills. The new Intimidation skill is the key for successful berserker tanking. While active, this skill draws the attention of enemies around the berserker, increases attack aggro and reduces critical hits. Intimidation also alters Axe Block, Flatten, Staggering Strike, Fiery Rage, Raze and Unchained Anger, adding new effects that increase threat, decrease damage and restore HP.
The Go Berserk update will also introduce the all-new 5-player dungeon, Timescape, the new 10-player raid dungeon, Akeron’s Inferno, an updated return of the 5-player dungeon, The Vault of Kaprima, new Tier 7 gear and a new dressing-room feature allowing players to preview cosmetic items for any race or class.
Players also can look forward to Gridiron, an all-new 15v15 battleground. In Gridiron, two teams enter and everybody dies! A lot! In this team-deathmatch-structured mode, players are dropped into the middle of an enormous, open factory floor with only one rule—kill as many members of the opposing team as possible in ten minutes.

For more in-depth details about the new berserker class skills and new content coming to TERA today, please visit the official Go Berserk website.

Global independent developer and publisher, Psyonix, announced today that Rocket League – one of the few PlayStation games in history to offer PS4™/PC cross-platform play – is now available digitally on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system via the PlayStation®Network, and on PC via Steam. With a PS4™-exclusive cameo from Sweet Tooth, the iconic ice cream truck of Twisted Metal® fame, Rocket League brings gamers a high-powered hybrid of arcade-style soccer and vehicular mayhem. Without their continued support, our game wouldn’t be what it is today.”
